If you want villain recommendations, here are some of my favorites: Villian: Chayton Littlestone Actor: Geno Segers TV show: Banshee The show had several great villains and you could enjoy studying many of them, but Chayton was by far my favorite villain. A Native American who is angered by what the white man did to his people. He sees the war against white oppression as already lost, and he only seeks to cause as much pain and destruction to the white man as his culture dies out to modern American ways. This a villain with true conviction and purpose. Segers brings an amazing intensity to the role. He's not prominent till season 3 though, but the rest of the show is worth a watch too. Villian: Tyler Durden Actor: Brad Pitt Movie: Fight Club Tyler is a great example of the cult of personality. He is charismatic and persuasive. Its very interesting listening to his monologues and thinking about how he's gained followers. Brad Pitt was great. I don't want to reveal too much about this movie though, so I'll leave it at that. Villian: Colonel Hans Landa Actor: Christoph Waltz Movie: Inglorious Bastards He plays a truly intelligent villain. He is terrifying because you are aware of how smart he is. Even when he is acting friendly, you're wondering what's going on under the charismatic mask. Even when he's being friendly, jovial, and acting oblivious, you are terrified he knows everything.
50:05 Bane took the speech from Gordon at the beginning when he was captured while in the sewer. Tom Hardy is a shorter guy so I think in many scenes he's wearing lifts to stand over his co-stars, but physically yes he got that big for the role. You mentioned suggestions of films with good villain studies, so here are mine, off the top of my head. Misery, Silence of the Lambs, Goodfellas, Die Hard, Face Off, Con Air, Robocop, No Country for Old Men, Django Unchained, Mad Max Fury Road, Gone Girl, Blade Runner, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Seven, The Batman, Tenet. You watch anime, so honestly as far as DC goes, I would recommend giving the "DC Universe Animated Original Movies" a try. They're better than most of the "DCEU" stuff. Specifically in regards to Batman I would recommend the animated film adaptations of "The Dark Knight Returns" and "The Long Holloween." Both of these are based on graphic novels of the same name which have heavily influenced many of the live action Batman movies. They're both two-parter's and self-contained stories, so you don't need to have seen anything else beforehand. They're also very loyal to the source material. Last but not least I would recommend "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm" which is arguably the best Batman ever made. Enjoyed the reaction.
It was worth the watch just for your scream at the end!. Great Reaction. I love that she's wearing his mother's pearls at the end too. Robin was Batman's sidekick/partner in crime fighting, so it was nice they tied that up in a neat little bow too.
During the plane scene at the beginning when Bane says removing the mask "will be extremely painful......for you". He says the line directed at the CIA guy but he gets interrupted by the "you're a big guy".
1:10:54-1:11:03 Back at the prison pit, that doctor guy said that Bane's breathing causes him pain due to either the beating he took or the disease that was rumming rampant in there, so yhe mask eases the pain, but it also eases any and all pain he receives, hence why no amount of damage slows him down. He can't feel it. It's only when his mask is damaged that he feels pain again.
Four of the greatest movie-villains / performances to learn from: Inglorious Basterds ( Hans Landa ) Joker ( Joker / Arthur Fleck ) Silence of the Lambs ( Hannibal Lecter ) No Country for Old Men ( Anton Chigurh )
The absolute greatest is Ian McDiarmid as The Senate. But whether or not someone can learn from his performance is another matter, it might just be too over the top and unique.
It's a shame that Christopher Nolan has repeatedly said he will not do another superhero movie. It took years, but Christian Bale said he would be willing to do the role again, but only with Nolan. The ending scene can be interpreted in different ways. The auto-pilot was fixed, but that alone doesn't mean the Bat could/would escape the blast radius. The closing scene could just be Alfred envisioning in grief the life he'd always hoped Bruce would have. The door was left open enough so as not to rule out another sequel, which seems weird given that Nolan had said from the beginning he'd only do a trilogy.
At 21:28 the original scene had joker as the “judge” instead of scarecrow. They were going to cgi him in the scene but figured it would be disrespectful and not the same, so they went with the one we have all seen
This was a great movie not only that but seeing everything thrown at Bruce all the obstacles he had to overcome. Losing Alfred, all of his money/assets gone, being defeated by Bane, betrayed by Catwoman, having his back broken, overcoming the pit, and then being betrayed by Miranda with a knife that was gut wrenching. Despite all of that Bruce Wayne came out on top and you know why because he's BATMAN!! All those things happening at once would have been too much for a normal person for not Bruce Wayne because he's BATMAN!!. And Tom Hardy's performance in this was absolutely incredible did a great job as Bane. And the soundtrack was awesome!
My favorite Gary Goldman roles are the reggae gangster in True Romance, Dracula, Churchill, The Professional, a movie with Sean Penn, Soldier tinker tailor Spy, a movie with Michael Keaton, and a few others.
Movies with the great villians: Silence of the Lambs - The only horror film to win the Best Movie Academy Award along with Best Actor, Actress, Director, Picture, and Adapted Screenplay, one of only 3 films to do so. The Usual Suspects- Doesn't have a classic "villian", but definitely has an antagonist. Won Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor, Kevin Spacey, from The Academy. The Writer's Guild also ranks it the 35th best screenplay of all time.
If you want to see great performance as villain: Over the top, extremely theaterical, amazing performance by Raoul Julia in Street Fighter (1994 ). Film itself its considered pretty bad, it has great cheesy moments but Raoul Julia's performance as villain has been rated greatly. Its been called greatest performance ever done in bad films. It was his final performance before dying in cancer, for the kids who loved Street Fighter games and you can see by his performance: Its his farewell performance for his kids.
These 3 movies are why I started watching you, your sexy catwoman costume, with your delightfully whimsical yet actually really smart and insightful commentary… ugh. I’m in love. Will always be a fan !!!
A wonderful ending to the trilogy as the first part was how Bruce overcame fear and use it and in the second part confronting someone who doesn't know fear but in this part he must make fear reach him As for Bane he does all this for love and this reminds me of Obito
57:40 Sweetheart it's not just Batman with the twist in the plots. This is The Dark Knight Rises by Christopher Nolan who is an excellent writer and director. Everything comes full circle and that's the geniusness of Christopher Nolan.
I like this film for the most part but I always hated how Gotham changes in each film. We went from a really solid Gotham City in Batman Begins that had a great tone and visual design with the narrows and the Art Deco style overhead train system built by Thomas Wayne running through Wayne Tower and Gotham City. To The Dark Knight where Gotham was stripped from all its personality for basically Chicago and then this film where Gotham is just New York and Pittsburghs. It just lacks so much personality in these films, same with Metropolis in Man of Steel. Idk what's with DC directors and struggling to make fictional cities unique instead of generic American looking dull cities. The storyline is a mix of Knightfall where Bane broke Batman's back leading to a new Batman taking for a while until Bruce recovers combined with No Lands Land a storyline where Gotham suffers the results of a magnitude 7.6 earthquake. In response, the US government evacuates most of the civilian population, then declares Gotham a "no man's land", blowing up all the bridges to the Island and leaving Gotham to the Kingpins of crimes and villains. Each region of Gotham is controlled by different villains with many fighting for control wile the GCPD control some area with Batman and his Bat family helping out. Also yeah the whole reveal at the end with "Robin" being the name of John Blake was a little odd for comic book fans. I personally can see Joseph Gordon-Levitt being a great older Robin like Dick Grayson and later becoming Nightwing but having his actual name be Robin is just not it for me. Robin is a title handed down through a number of people, plus I don't think Nolan would ever introduce a Robin anyways as his world is very "super duper grounded". Last time we've seen Robin in a Batman film was 1997's Batman & Robin but thankfully James Gunn's new DCU Batman film will feature all the Bat Family.
You are one of the better reaction people. I think you got that extra bit of charisma. Also you seem to have good insight on the actual cinematography. I like this
Some other great villains are Hans Gruber from Die Hard, T-1000 from Terminator 2, Magneto from X-men To not spoil the film’s villain, watch Audition, Oldboy, Casino Royale, Skyfall, Gladiator, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Leon the Professional
This movie is definitely underrated. The coolest thing is the difference between the Joker and Bane. Joker was the personification of chaos.. Bane, on the other hand, is a man with a plan.. And super loyal troops.
Ok, film recs for best supervillains, specifically that you haven't yet seen on this channel: Joker (with Joaquin Phoenix), X-Men First Class (Fassbinder), X-Men (McKellan), Logan, Batman 1989 (Jack Nicholson). You've already seen a lot of them. For best villains, generally: Silence of the Lambs (Anthony Hopkins); Misery (Kathy Bates); One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (Louise Fletcher); Django Unchained (Leo); Scarface (Al Pacino); Inglourious Basterds (Christopher Waltz); Schindler's List (Ralph Fiennes); No Country for Old Men (Javier Bardem); There Will Be Blood (Daniel Day Lewis); Night of the Hunter (Robert Mitchum); Psycho (Anthony Perkins); Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? (Bettie Davis); The Godfather Part II (Al Pacino); Cape Fear (Robert de Niro); Training Day (Denzel Washington); Amadeus (F. Murray Abraham);
Batman has the best villains because every villain in Batman's Rogues' Gallery is a inverted version of Batman. They're not just criminals, like Batman, they are seriously psychologically damaged.
@@Cream-2128 Yeah, but Deathstroke is more of a Titans/Nightwing villain, or at least I always felt that way. There's crossover into Batman, of course - because it's the same DC Universe and the same Bat-family, but Batman and his Rogues (at least most of them - maybe all) are based on Jungian archetypes and depict abnormal psychologies. Batman himself is the Jungian "shadow-self," and the man behind the mask, Bruce Wayne, is incredibly psychologically damaged. Anyone who, as a result of the trauma of seeing his parents murdered and then grows up to become a vigilante who goes out night after night just so he can beat criminals to a pulp with his bare hands in order to symbolically avenge those murders is not a mentally healthy person.
Aye, Batman by far has the best rogues gallery of any hero. And part of what makes them great is how many of them are also victims of the cruel, absurd world (like Batman) and reflect different parts of his psyche.
Tom Hardy is an absolute legend, he did indeed got that big for the role. He went through tons of training. Just like Christian Bale, he reshapes his body to fit his roles
In the Dark Knight The Joker says to Batman: "You see, their morals, their code. It's all a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. I'll show you, when the chips are down... These "civilized people", they'll eat each other. See, I'm not a monster, I'm just ahead of the curve" And in this movie Bane proves just how right Joker was. Insight a little chaos and see how much people lose their minds
This was a masterpiece, rewatching this I can definitely say this is the best superhero trilogy and this was my favorite in the trilogy. Joker and the Batman next?
Some of my favorite villain performances are Tim Roth in Rob Roy and Jonathon Price in Something Wicked This Way Comes. If you want to see a really good, complicated actress who's a nemesis, watch Annette Benning in Valmont. She's not a villain, but uses wile, manipulation, cleverness and sexuality to control. It's a variation of Dangerous Liasons, but the superior movie
Noticed something this viewing. Curious editing choice in movie. It would make more sense if the mayor's room got blown up before the football field. Instead, the field is exploding, an extremely unusual sight, all while the mayor's casually viewing the kickoff run like nothing's happening. Then he go boom. Can't unsee that now.
This Trilogy shows that there are some people in Hollywood that are untouchable. I am mainly referring here to Christopher Nolan and Hans Zimmer. You put these two on a project, you guarantee a legendary film that can hold for a generation! Whatever were the Original Batman Classics from the 80s and 90s, and whatever DCEU brought us! Nothing, and I mean NOTHING can touch this trilogy. Prefect all around in all three movies.
Tom Hardy got jacked to play Bane, and it was a fast transformation. He hit the weights to build muscle, but his diet was straight up dirty bulk. Tom said he ate an ungodly amount of pizza, burgers, and other high-calorie junk food to put on the most size he could as fast as he could. He said he ate so much he felt like garbage for most of the production and didn't like being that size and hated how maintaining his Bane physique made him feel mentally. Dirty bulking to build muscle isn't advisable, or desirable. I tried it once, and while the muscle gains were noticeable, my stomach and my mind hated me for it. It makes you feel stopped up and sad after you stick with it for a few weeks. Dirty bulking is something only bodybuilders or powerlifters should be doing, and even then, done under a strict regime.

Guy in purple tie, top gun 2! And a true pilot story about two pilots during the Korean war, 1 black and 1 white.
OMG! I almost skipped this, because for some reason I didn't notice Bane in the thumbnail, or "Rises" is the title. I just thought this was a re-upload of The Dark Knight because maybe YT did ya dirty as they do so many. Thank God it was on the side, recommended during another video.
Thank you, Collette, for sharing your reaction to this trilogy. It might interest you to know that earlier in their careers, Joesph Gordon Levitt(Robin in this series) and Heath Ledger(Joker) worked together in "10 Things I Hate About You."
And both of them look so similar! They look like brothers
@@aryastark772 I have noticed the resemblance. In case you haven't seen it, "Premium Rush" is a entertaining movie starring J.G.Levitt and Michael Shannon.
Well, she gets paid to share it. She's not doing it for you. 🤷♂
Completely forgot about that aye
This is how Bane got the letter about Harvey Dent. When Jim Gordan went down into the sewers, he was knocked out and taken to Bane. Then Bane said "I will search you and then kill you". Before Gordan escapes you can see Bane with papers in his hand
If you want villain recommendations, here are some of my favorites:
Villian: Chayton Littlestone
Actor: Geno Segers
TV show: Banshee
The show had several great villains and you could enjoy studying many of them, but Chayton was by far my favorite villain.
Villian: Tyler Durden
Actor: Brad Pitt
Movie: Fight Club
Tyler is a great example of the cult of personality. He is charismatic and persuasive. Its very interesting listening to his monologues and thinking about how he's gained followers. Brad Pitt was great. I don't want to reveal too much about this movie though, so I'll leave it at that.
Villian: Colonel Hans Landa
Actor: Christoph Waltz
Movie: Inglorious Bastards
He plays a truly intelligent villain. He is terrifying because you are aware of how smart he is. Even when he is acting friendly, you're wondering what's going on under the charismatic mask. Even when he's being friendly, jovial, and acting oblivious, you are terrified he knows everything.
She was also in the movie, Assassin's Creed, with Micheal Fassbender!
You have such a beautiful view of the characters who appear in these movies - it's heartwarming.
Christian bale is my favorite Live-action Batman and Kevin Conroy was my favorite animated batman, I got an autograph before he died
Now, Joker & The Batman 2022.
I'd say both aren't all that good
Nope, now Man of Steel.
No. No one ever needs to watch that garbage joker movie. No one ever needs to see an emo old anorexic joker crying for 2 hours.
@@RichardsLPStreetSoldier100% cavill4life
50:05 Bane took the speech from Gordon at the beginning when he was captured while in the sewer.
That conversation between Blake and Bruce, always gives me chills
During the plane scene at the beginning when Bane says removing the mask "will be extremely painful......for you". He says the line directed at the CIA guy but he gets interrupted by the "you're a big guy".
1:10:54-1:11:03
Back at the prison pit, that doctor guy said that Bane's breathing causes him pain due to either the beating he took or the disease that was rumming rampant in there, so yhe mask eases the pain, but it also eases any and all pain he receives, hence why no amount of damage slows him down. He can't feel it. It's only when his mask is damaged that he feels pain again.
Four of the greatest movie-villains / performances to learn from:
Inglorious Basterds ( Hans Landa )
Joker ( Joker / Arthur Fleck )
Silence of the Lambs ( Hannibal Lecter )
No Country for Old Men ( Anton Chigurh )
The absolute greatest is Ian McDiarmid as The Senate. But whether or not someone can learn from his performance is another matter, it might just be too over the top and unique.
This movie is super underrated in the trilogy
Commissioner Gordon's letter revealing the truth about Harvey Dent was taken when he was briefly Bane's captive in the sewer.
53:07 He got it from Gordon in the earlier scene where Gordon was brought into his hideout by Bane's men just before he got shot trying to escape.
And the soundtrack was awesome!
i don't know if you already watched Skyfall but that's a movie with a really good villain, Javier Bardem did a great job
My favorite Gary Goldman roles are the reggae gangster in True Romance, Dracula, Churchill, The Professional, a movie with Sean Penn, Soldier tinker tailor Spy, a movie with Michael Keaton, and a few others.
I have to admit, the Batman fight scene where Batman is played by Ben Affleck, rocks! He's far more ruthless!!
Hey if you want a masterclass in villainy Hannibal Lecter is an all time villain. Watch "The Silence of the Lambs".
A couple of villains I love-
Hannibal Lecter, The Silence of the Lambs
Anton Chigurh, No Country for Old Men
Alonzo Harris, Training Day
6:20 I wonder if “that comes later” was improvised because of that pause
Movies with the great villians:
Silence of the Lambs - The only horror film to win the Best Movie Academy Award along with Best Actor, Actress, Director, Picture, and Adapted Screenplay, one of only 3 films to do so.
The Usual Suspects- Doesn't have a classic "villian", but definitely has an antagonist. Won Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor, Kevin Spacey, from The Academy. The Writer's Guild also ranks it the 35th best screenplay of all time.
lol your reaction at the end to Batman being alive with Catwoman was hilarious. Knew it was coming haha 🤣
The reaction to Tate being the kid and him alive with Catwoman was so epic, you are so gorgeous and funny 😂😂😂
1:19:01 Yes, Catwoman knows Bruce is Batman. She learned at 41:12, at the start of his first confrontation with Bane.
I like this
Some other great villains are Hans Gruber from Die Hard, T-1000 from Terminator 2, Magneto from X-men
To not spoil the film’s villain, watch Audition, Oldboy, Casino Royale, Skyfall, Gladiator, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Leon the Professional
This movie is definitely underrated. The coolest thing is the difference between the Joker and Bane. Joker was the personification of chaos.. Bane, on the other hand, is a man with a plan.. And super loyal troops.
Ok, film recs for best supervillains, specifically that you haven't yet seen on this channel: Joker (with Joaquin Phoenix), X-Men First Class (Fassbinder), X-Men (McKellan), Logan, Batman 1989 (Jack Nicholson). You've already seen a lot of them.
For best villains, generally: Silence of the Lambs (Anthony Hopkins); Misery (Kathy Bates); One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (Louise Fletcher); Django Unchained (Leo); Scarface (Al Pacino); Inglourious Basterds (Christopher Waltz); Schindler's List (Ralph Fiennes); No Country for Old Men (Javier Bardem); There Will Be Blood (Daniel Day Lewis); Night of the Hunter (Robert Mitchum); Psycho (Anthony Perkins); Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? (Bettie Davis); The Godfather Part II (Al Pacino); Cape Fear (Robert de Niro); Training Day (Denzel Washington); Amadeus (F. Murray Abraham);
It was such a satisfying ending for me as well.
Batman has the best villains because every villain in Batman's Rogues' Gallery is a inverted version of Batman. They're not just criminals, like Batman, they are seriously psychologically damaged.
I mean name isn’t one of the psychological damaged ones though neither is Deathstroke.
Ive seen this movie multiple times and I still get teary at the end even though I know Bruce lives
Little Finger from Game of Thrones is playing the CIA guy
Your reaction was adorable and it made my day
Wow never realized that at 1:08:35 that’s Christopher Judge Kratos voice actor from the god of war games
The new Batman movie with Robert Pattinson also has a good villain. that would make another good reaction movie
Aye, Batman by far has the best rogues gallery of any hero. And part of what makes them great is how many of them are also victims of the cruel, absurd world (like Batman) and reflect different parts of his psyche.
Really like the editing, so you both can see the movie and Colettes reactions
Great reaction. Nolan and twists...The Prestige and Inception will rock your world!
Tom Hardy is an absolute legend, he did indeed got that big for the role. He went through tons of training. Just like Christian Bale, he reshapes his body to fit his roles
The final reaction was priceless
In the Dark Knight The Joker says to Batman:
"You see, their morals, their code. It's all a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. I'll show you, when the chips are down... These "civilized people", they'll eat each other. See, I'm not a monster, I'm just ahead of the curve"
And in this movie Bane proves just how right Joker was. Insight a little chaos and see how much people lose their minds
colette is such a good reactor. she really gets all the dialogue down
This was a masterpiece, rewatching this I can definitely say this is the best superhero trilogy and this was my favorite in the trilogy.
Oda is such a goat he even foreshadowed batman surviving sacrificing himself flying away with a massive bomb thats about to go off. gonna call him Patman to represent the will of P living on within him
If u watch her scenes closely, there's hints that let u know, she's the bad guy!
That scream was everything 😂
Love your reactions, you are always a joy 😊
Gotham City is Chicago
I remember the filming
Regarding the tunnel flashing, he did that to the reporters at the party.
NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. That’s a movie that needs to be watched. There’s a character in this that will always gives you a feeling.
Just realized that Alfred sent Selina to give Bruce his food because he was tired of seeing Bruce be depressed and a shut in so he was trying to draw him out and wife him up lmao. Really is a great grand dad
The football player running with the ball during the explosions was the real NFL running back, Hines Ward formerly the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He was a wide receiver
1:17:48 Yeah, that's him. Watch the film "Bronson". He got really big for that role before this one.
I’m really happy you got the SAG-AFTRA waiver for the independent film, but I hope they’re ultimately okay with reaction work based on what historically would have been struck films. Some react channels by Union people have restricted themselves to TV animation for the duration.
I upvoted this but it's kind of stupid, something released like a decade prior needs to be ok. If they go after people like this then f them.
Between your loud voice and those eyes, wow, you have such a glow and your super intelligent.
Of course, Robin was Batman’s sidekick in the comics.
was he supposed to get his own movie?
@@ColetteCherryI don’t think so; they just named him Robin for continuity with the comics. Glad to see you loved the DC trilogy! Keep it up, you’re doing great!
So good! My favorite of the trilogy too.
James Bond you can start from the beginning but I would just start from the 1999 film
