      I wish Doctor Sutterer would have this same conversation with Tony Patker so Tony could comprehend that his injury was NOT 100 times worse than Kawhi Leonard! Unfortunately, throwing Kawhi under the bus was old man popovich's idea and NOT Tony's. When Manu, and T. Murray threw kaehi under the bus was also old man popovich's doing and not any of the players. However, I blame these players for being ball less wonders and allowing the old man to dictate to them like that!

    One thing Dr. Sutterrer did not mention is the low circulation tendons have. Low circulation means slower healing. Tendons must be as strong as muscle while being much smaller. How is this possible? welp, a blood vessel is weak structure. For a tendon to be just as strong as a muscle while being smaller it can not have as many blood vessels in it. Tendons heal slowly. Tendonitis sucks.

    • @BrianSuttererMD
      @BrianSuttererMD  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep great point. And we think that chronic tendonosis might be an arrest at some stage in the healing process. Where the healing gets started with initial inflammatory response, but then can't progress and you get this chronic inflammatory phase. There's even speculation about whether or not nsaids and ice are good/bad based on what stage of healing and how it affects that process.

    • @905JimRaynor
      @905JimRaynor 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrianSuttererMD Thanks for your reply. I had Prolotherapy to help heal my 2 year tendon issue. From my understanding Prolotherapy sort of "re-injures" the tendon and "re-starts" the healing process right from the beginning. Supposedly, It helps pull you out of the repetitive re-injury cycle you mention.

    • @BrianSuttererMD
      @BrianSuttererMD  6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Highly unlikely. If it we're a contusion would have had to have been hit in the thigh pretty hard at some point. Tendonopathy develops overtime after repeated use

    • @Vihntage
      @Vihntage 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Huge fan of your videos! You definitely should give an update on Kawhi's health status in a new video since so much has happened since then and there more info now...It seems that it's probably closer to tendinopathy now that he's on the clipper's opposed to a quad contusion.The NBA also disclosed that it was his patellar tendon which he has a chronic condition which is right under the quad. tendon. He also got a custom ring with an F U which has all sorts of implications. Is it the same leg? If so, is it the same chronic condition from then and kawhi blames the spurs for it because they kept him in? Is he blaming them for not properly assessing and not disclosing the information to keep him playing and undermine his injury? Literally writing this as im watching the clippers-Minnesota game where he was literally perfect in the first half and now im see him limp and hobble all over the court like his damaged tendon is nearing it's limit.

      My theory is that the spurs doctors knew his tendon injury was chronic and degenerative, and kawhi's canp knew that it would have a huge impact on his future "mega" contract. Hence they seek the opinion of other doctors to sort of dispute and dispel the issue(a bruised thigh sounds not so bad, of course), then demanded a trade so that other teams kinda will be in the dark about the true nature of his injury.

      @@BrianSuttererMD doc you know as doctors we can't 100% rely on imaging, we have to listen to our patients. I always encourage my patients to listen to their bodies. I have seen too many great NBA players' careers get cut short or never reach their full potential because of pesty injuries, misdiagnoses etc. i.e. Bill Walton, Sam Bowie, Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Chris Webber, Greg Oden, Danny Granger, Brandon Roy and recently Derrick Rose and Isaiah Thomas who's career is a cautionary tale of why exactly you should listen to your body as a NBA player. This a franchise player, someone who you're banking on to be the face of your franchise. I would be backing him 100%. Currently going thru hamstring tendinopathy and yea, I’d legitimately prefer a rupture or tear to this type of chronic pain/ injury.
    As a Raps fan I’m also fairly certain he had a flair up in symptoms during the 2019 run and played through vs the Bucks and Warriors. Dudes tough af for that and the Spurs look bad for insisting he play tbh, especially Parker. But it’s a hard thing to diagnose for any medical staff. Awful injury.

    Kind of obscure reference when talking about basketball, but I remember hearing about the danger of calcium buildup with regard to Urijah Faber when he fought Jose Also in MMA. Aldo kicked the living shit out of Faber’s inside leg. After the fight it was swollen to like twice its original size, and I remember hearing how the calcium buildup can become a problem with leg kicks. However I have never heard of any follow up on whether guys have issues, or maybe they don’t because they get treatment. Just an interesting tidbit. Look into it, or not. Regardless, just found this channel and it’s super interesting. Always had some of these questions. Keep it up.

    Hey so on the topic of the quads, last year when I was in football practice we were squatting and I felt a pain in my area where the quads are. I tried to do more squats and lunges but couldn’t. I also found out that it hurt when I was running. I had to quit the football and basketball teams due to this pain and not being able to run for half of the year. I never went to the doctor for it because I didn’t think it was serious. While it’s obvious the injury wasn’t overkill as it went away with time, I’m curious to know what happened and why it hurt when I ran.

    SO happy He didn’t play. Oladipo had quadriceps tendon issues and sat out, came back early and had that devastating gruesome test of THE SAME tendon.

    hi, my FPL tendon ruptured and repaired about 12 weeks ago, but till now i'm still not able to move it as it as on another hand. being my dominant hand, it's important for me to have full mobility, i been trying to bend my thumb as hard as ican but i can only go around 45degrees. may i know is there any exercise i can do to improve this?
    thanks in advance

    Can you explain if you said the muscles eventually get wear and tear how does LeBron stay so injury free? I know he spends like a lot of money on his body but how effective is some of his treatments and just in general I suppose how does he stay in shape

    Is it possible he had both injuries, but the Spurs doctors missed the contusion and cleared him to play when he shouldn't? It would explain why he didn't play well his last 9 games on the Spurs, why he was in so much pain when he played those games, and why his personal doctors were able to diagnose a contusion. If he rehabs the contusion for the rest of that season then by the time he gets to the Raptors the contusion is healed and that would explain why he's been great after getting traded from the Spurs as long as he load manages the quad tendon. To me that makes more sense than him quitting on the only team that could offer him the super max while also being a title contender
