I've Never Been More Worried Watching an NBA Game | Zion Williamson Injury Risk

  • The regular season is a few days away and there's already some concern surrounding New Orleans Pelicans Zion Williamson and a possible knee injury. I've never been more worried watching a player in the NBA then when Zion Williamson is on the court. The combination of an abnormal gait pattern and his body weight and playing style make me really concerned about him getting hurt.

Hey doc. As a doctor myself, I have the same concerns for Zion. I really hope they have a world-class team of doctors, trainers, physiotherapists, nutritionists etc. on that Pelicans staff because this young man needs to be manged more intensely than the average NBA player. I've already heard Shaq and Chuck state publicly that he needs to get his weight under control. So his nutritionist, personal chef and personal trainer literally have to work as a cohesive group. If I were the Pelicans, I would definitely request that both Shaq and Chuck to him about the challenges of the NBA and get his parents involved. Not to mention a top notch psychologist because as a teenager it may be difficult to get if to understand certain concepts. It seems that he was raised in a stable environment so he may be more inclined to reason. I wish him all the best because I hate to see all of these injuries ruin careers.
