The levels (both the Sonic ones in the remaster and the new Shadow ones) are expertly crafted, there's also a fair amount of content if you want to get all collectibles, missions and improve your time/score in each level. Since you brought up Frontiers, I didn't play much of it as I disliked the boring environments and sluggish controls.

For more indie and low down titles they should have a smaller party or even one person review the game.

Honestly, I think IGN was WAY TOO harsh with Brothership. IGN is the one video game reviewer that isn't the most reliable & that goes for Sonic too. Sonic Unleash got a 4.5/10 just because of the werehog levels was TOO harsh. It wasn't that bad. It feels like IGN takes very small errors as very big problems & it annoys me.

As someone who like both Mario and Sonic franchises I will say that personally I'm glad that Sonic x Shadow Generations is the W the Sonic fandom needed in a long time, and I think the Mario fandom shouldn't overthink that rating the recent Mario and Luigi game got because they were already getting fed with other critically acclaimed Mario games like Super Mario bros Wonder. In the end IGN's opinion doesn't matter a lot so it's not like that Mario lost to Sonic.

It's a great game that definitely deserved a high score, but it's very likely that the review was biased. In the end, it's only one person reviewing the games, so everyone should be able to take the reviews with a grain of salt and make their own judgment (after all, every human being have different tastes and preferences)

I'll rate those 2. Sonic x shadow generations. : it's actually good and really it gives us a actual playable shadow. And some level designs don't make sense but they are fun. 9/10 Mario&luigi brothership : From the art style itself, it shows that it's very good! The game is similar to mario RPG (so it works like a normal RPG.) Overall a solid 8/10. (It is only 8/10 for some minor problems) My cons for both games For brothership, I think it has to do with performance issues on the switch itself so hope it gets fixed. For shadow x sonic generations, my problem with it to not give it a 10/10 is because it's based off generations, so yeah it isn't much.

Well, in a way, it is serious. Lots people consult reviews first before buying the game, and if these reviews don't accurately the game as a whole, then people could be missing out on some very great titles.
I think that IGN should have a fan of the franchise, and a person who isn't familiar with the franchise playtest the game. That way we get more reasonable information. But that being said, Sonic x Shadow Generations deserves the win in my book.
If they liked Sonic more than Mario, they wouldn't have given Sonic Unleashed a 4.5/10, Super Mario Galaxy 2 a 10/10, Sonic Frontiers a 7/10, and the Thousand Year Door remake a 9.1/10.

I loved Rain and Duncan in Xenoblade. Along with Fiona and Melina.
Jokes aside though, the Sonic x Shadow review was clearly written by a long time Sonic fan. The woman who did the review clearly had some passion for it

Sonic x shadow generations. : it's actually good and really it gives us a actual playable shadow. And some level designs don't make sense but they are fun.

Mario&luigi brothership :
From the art style itself, it shows that it's very good! The game is similar to mario RPG (so it works like a normal RPG.)
Overall a solid 8/10. (It is only 8/10 for some minor problems)
My cons for both games
For brothership, I think it has to do with performance issues on the switch itself so hope it gets fixed.
For shadow x sonic generations, my problem with it to not give it a 10/10 is because it's based off generations, so yeah it isn't much.

*i say it as a person diagnosed with autism, myself.* to me it seems that IGN thinks that autistic people might feel "offended" by seeing mario being more rated than sonic. since if i'm not wrong i know the most down bad side of autistic people, loves sonic and any other insanely fast paced game.

I think this is totally absurd, sonic deserved a W, yes, but Brothership is also a good game, and i don't seem to understand the low rating that IGN gave to Brothership, we haven't had a Mario & Luigi game FOR 9 YEARS, And everyone was hyped when it was annouced, the Brothership gameplay is also good.
I think both games desserve an 8-10 rating, because is obviously clear that IGN's decision was just favoritism.
Also, all those who defend Sonic and say that Brothership was trash, they're ALL kids who didn't even played the game (or both games)

IGN ratings didn't matter to us in the end because we had the heart and we knew better while they kept playing favorite with Mario all this time just because. Well, in a way, it is serious. Lots people consult reviews first before buying the game, and if these reviews don't accurately the game as a whole, then people could be missing out on some very great titles.

I think that IGN should have a fan of the franchise, and a person who isn't familiar with the franchise playtest the game. That way we get more reasonable information. But that being said, Sonic x Shadow Generations deserves the win in my book.

The main lesson here is that games do not need gratification from journalists or generalists in order to be good.
Ignoring the toxicity from most sonic fans in this comment section, IGN shouldn’t be the way you determine if you want to play a game or not. There’s tons of other reviewers and 99% gave brothership a 7 at worst. At the end of the day you should always form your own opinion. Both games were good and bringing sonic into this was unnecessary.
