    So happy to run across your video! I’ve been on an arduous search for an NGSS aligned science curriculum with features like Mosa Mack that we could use in our homeschool (4th grade). The challenge with this and similar programs is that they are technically designed for the trad’l classroom and hands-on material kits (if available) don’t come in smaller/more affordable quantities. Mosa Mack does provide pre-purchase access to a materials list, but details are important (e.g., what kind of thermometer, what sized beakers, what kind of tubing…??? etc.) Their rep indicates lesson plans may provide helpful details, but presumably I’d have to commit before I get access to this. 🙁Frankly, the relative ease (or lack thereof) of acquiring materials is a really big concern for us and would play a very important role in deciding whether to use a particular curriculum. Did you guys do much of the hands-on experiments/labs? How did you navigate materials purchase? I would greatly appreciate any input re: this. Sorry for the long post.

      I didn’t have any issues with the labs or materials. It was all materials we had or household items. That being said, I did not follow a specific order or sequence to all the available lessons. We did them as they matched our other science curricula. I wouldn’t be able to tell you that every single lab or hands on was accessible. If that’s a concern for you, I would suggest looking at resources that come with the lab materials or list them. I can’t tell you with certainty that you won’t encounter a problem. For us, it was never an issue and I never really worry about gathering a list ahead of time since we are science heavy home and use to gathering supplies for experiments. The classroom setting only came to play with us, if it had a classroom discussion. Which was an easy modification for smaller group or individual. But again, we use several traditional resources and I’m very use to adapting it to the home. NGSS aligned curricula are going to be for the most part written for traditional setting, if that’s your aim, it’s something to be aware that it will require some translation from you. Some more than others. Again, for me, as someone with a science background, it’s a non issue. There’s a lot of great science curricula made for homeschool setting though.

      Thanks for the input. We are not what I would consider science heavy, but I do want my kid to get quality science ed. But it’s gotta fit with everything else we’ve got going on and not be too stressful. Unfortunately most of the homeschool friendly options aren’t NGSS aligned and that’s important for us. Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Have a great academic year!

      @@agslovesjesus984 I understand, It’s important to us as well. I have a few other videos that are NGSS, one that free, but depends on the grade you are looking for. Maybe something else fits. Best wishes and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have other questions.

    Thank you so much for sharing this! Unfortunately, I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to navigate this site. :( I wish it were more intuitive! :(

      You have to contact them to order, you can’t order via the site since it’s made for schools. But they offer single license use, just contact them for pricing and ordering.

    Also, how long do you feel like it took your kids to complete an entire unit? Lesson 1-3. I know each will vary in time, but I'm trying to get a general flow and then can go in and tweak it through our weeks.

      Conservatively a week. But we spend a lot of time on science.

    Do you find that having them do the Phenom vs the Animation would be more/less beneficial for younger ages? I have a 3rd grader doing the 4th grade level...dont want to overwhelm him.

      Depends on the child. My oldest still loves the animation, and prefers to watch both . My youngest likes them both, but I met her take the lead with the more complex ideas and activities.

    Can you share what the price is for a homeschooled student?

    • @Arleneandcompany
      @Arleneandcompany  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ok, I just asked them as I see you can’t see pricing without contacting them on the site. We purchased via our homeschool funds with a third party, so it was a different ordering process. They just told me, $150 for up to 2 homeschool students for the annual subscription.
