Opossums are so adorable. I heard crying next to my window one rainy night and it was an opossum trapped at the bottom of our empty garbage can. After we got him out I left food on the back porch steps incase he came back.

We used to have rescued (unreleasable) opossums in our animal education unit at a large zoo I worked at. The comment that you're so glad they never try to bite is so true. They can be terrified and hiss and posture but I personally never had a single wild opossum actually try to bite me during a rescue. They're just the most inoffensive, harmless creatures. I love them, they're so wonderful.
I have the feeling that there were More of them around. Mothers deliver lots more than three babies!! I hope they all survived!! CONGRATS ELDAD for this special rescue!!
Eldad, you got eagle vision. It is true that once you get into animal rescue your eye for animal movement in the corners and niches becomes more attuned.

They CAN, but it's very, very rare (game warden's daughter here....he would bring home injured animals and we would take care of them until they could be re-released)

Opossums are one of my favorite animals they eat insects TICKS), rabies resistant, and with all those sharp little teeth, even the adults rarely ever bite.

Some Opossums prefer the country life and some prefer the City. I've lived in both areas and I've seen more when I lived in the City. They'd have regular parties on my back patio.
She's a really smart dog, it looked like she was doing her best to get all the food without setting off the trap. Good to see that she also figured out that she was safe after being trapped and calmed down.
So tiny! They look fierce but are truly terrified! They hiss and open that huge mouth but they really do not bite from aggression. They’re almost blind except in total darkness. My cats & kittens all get fascinated by opossums’ long ratty tails.

Once I found a baby opossum in our yard and took it inside. It was so cute! Then I found another one. And another one. And another one. Until there were 7 baby opossums in our house.😬 Then I just let them go in the yard again and they were fine, I still saw them around a lot after that.💕
These are WONDERFUL animals. So beneficial for the environment. They eat thousands of ticks that transmit Lyme Disease and they are almost entirely immune to rabies. They sound really scary but they are not aggressive at all and only will bite as a very last resort. Love Love Love Possums!!!
Me! I used to work as a wildlife rehabber, and as a newb, you are started on opossum because some people just think they're gross. My 1st pair made me fall in love with them, and I decided to be the 'possum lady. They're lovely and I would love to raise them any time.
People think opossums are disgusting animals..but they are very helpful as well.. Im glad these babies were saved...they have just as much right to life as any other living creature.. .

They also eat small snakes and grubs. And they don't get rabies, and are immune to snake venom. Scientists are working with them, hoping to find a universal snake antidote.

Opossums are great animals, not just cute. They eat insects ( mainly ticks!), slugs, rotten stuff in the garden. They are truly useful. And cute. -:)
