  • Come along as we make the trip to DFW to pick up a relative. The temperatures this summer are so hot, I lose 4 cameras to heat failure. No trip to Texas would be complete without BBQ so we enjoyed lunch at Hard 8 before returning to Springdale.

It's almost like you're trying to shorten your words, but it's not easy to understand you. Great job of flying, you'll be a great pilot one day. Continuing learning as much as you can.

  • @carlrossi7989
    @carlrossi7989 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Kory-quick question....how often do you use the long-range tanks? I noticed that you have them installed, and we are planning on doing the same in a few months, was hoping you could comment on your real-world usage [or not]. Vast majority of our flying is two relatively light people [about 130 lb each] so weight generally not an issue. Thanks!

    • @MalibuFlyer
      @MalibuFlyer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Carl. I use the additional capacity quite often actually. Since it's a "wet wing", there is no additional tank. The STC just allows for an additional filler cap to be drilled farther out on the wing to take advantage of what would otherwise be air. This will give you 140 gallons total.

    • @carlrossi7989
      @carlrossi7989 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MalibuFlyer Good to know. We are planning on having the filler ports installed during the aircraft's first 50 hour inspection, it is one of the least expensive STC's I have come across for any airplane....:) And it beats the "lean on the wing while fueling" method that some use!

    Your clearance at takeoff was to "turn right 090 climb and maintain 15000" - you both repeated 4000 which was what your initial clearance was. Fortunately it didn't matter as when you called departure they then cleared you to 15000.
    Sorry to be picky and the tower controller should have caught the error, but he didn't.

    I appreciate the effort and production as well as many good videos by Malibu Flyer However, three things stick out like a sore thumb about this video. First of all is taking off in those conditions with no out, putting lives and property at risk. Second, intentionally eliminating working nav aids during the approach as if it were a game…meaning hand flying and turning off the flight director that could have enhanced safety. Different if in a sim or better weather. Third, was the distraction of all the talking about someone dealing with an off airport fire during the final phase of the landing. Not trying to be a “Donny Downer”, just concerned about you, your family, and friends.
