You are awesome Sam, i have been struggling with my landings as i am forced to jump on my side opposite to my default one so i can use waves kickers, i used the bar pressure tip and now i land most if not all of my jumps.
The comment about keeping more pressure on the back foot to prevent forward rotation was very helpful. I have been having a hard time not rotating forward when I’m trying for jumps more than 2 or 3m so thanks for that!
He just did! Hold the bar in and don't re direct the kite till a few meters off the water. If you let up on the bar at all during the jump it causes the kite to fly upwind and makes for a hard landing if it doesn't just completely fall out of the air. Or you can heli loop it on the way down to keep it from flying upwind but you must time the end of the loop right.
Trim correctly was the best advice for me. I went overpowered always thinking I would jump higher that way, and actually it's easier to jump HIGHER when kite is correctly trimmed.
Thank you for mentioning the need to have the right kite or correct board for jumping bigger. So many vids out on the web that don't say anything about needing the correct gear.
Sam thanks for the great video,s !!I started kitesurfing when i saw you flying over landgaps 😂😂great inspiration !!! now i can kite upwind next step jumping 🤙🤙
I hope to one day try jumping, the closest I've got so far is when I were standing on the spot with the kite at 12 during water draging and I pulled the bar down a little and felt myself lifted off my feet. I got to learn to get up first which hopefully I can try again in a few weeks time with a bit of luck. One step at a time and I wouldn't want to scare myself. I bet it's super fun.
Really good video. There are a lot of details an tips for correcting mistakes that you go over really quickly though. I had to go back and rewind the video a bunch of times. Keep up the good work though. Oh, why are the diagrams with the Sentinel bar and you're riding the Guardian? Which bar do you like better and why?
Hey Sam! I like these instructions videos! Is it possible to share some tips for getting and staying warm during the cold winter sessions? Would be very usefull, now we can’t escape to a tropical destination!
Great video Sam 🤙 When you do that mini ‘bunny’ jump before landing on your edge carving up and sending it for bigger jumps, how do you do the mini jump, is it just a small kick down with your rear foot or both feet or you simply just lifting up your knees ? Also what do you do with your body and bar when doing this mini pop ? Maybe a video on this if you run out of ideas of what to make videos about,
Yeah got question, getting that board pop right is the basis for many moves, I'm still trying to figure that out too. I can edge super hard, yet not getting much pop really.
Awesome! For some reason i can do great jumps and landings with low effort and on other days i just can't seem to do the landing right and fall out of the air real hard while pulling the bar. Any ideas? Maybe it's the conditions (gusty wind or so).
At 3:50 you say when steering initiate input and then let out the bar. Doesn’t that decrease power.? Any thoughts on timing? Edge first and then send kite? Send kite first then edge? Same time? Any thoughts on spotting a takeoff point? I’m pretty frustrated. Been kiting for 8 years and I just don’t consistently jump well.
you only let out the bar very briefly so it doesn't pull you off your edge until the kite is above your head. Edge and send kite at the same time, its always good to spot your landing, it's all about building as much tension in the lines as possible
can you do a specific video on edging? I'm fine with small jumps, but have problems holding my edge, when I'm trying to jump really powered... especially right before takeoff. It seems nearly impossible to edge more at this point. And could you also tell something about the course before takeoff? Does it make sense to ride more down or upwind before the takeoff sequence begins.
Great idea! There is so many nuances with jumping, i could talk about it for hours. Its best to ride across the wind, the hop before take off can help but thats more advanced jumping
Sam,, Do you keep your bar sheeted out a little bit before you jump? Do you move the kite towards 12 , while sheeted or do you sheet the bar all the way before moving the kite. I have been told that my kite moves to 12 slowly, but I move the bar as fast as I can
Hallo, have U tried to *flare, flap or pump* the trailing edge while up? Does it make U go farther at least? I do paragliding since 2001 (LTF2) and now that there are no mountains where I am now, I'll starr with kitesurfing.
Sam, where is your Head weight a little bit before you pop? If you could explain how set the body weight on the board before take off i will be Grateful tks mate
I very often rotate forwards when jumping, don't know why it happens but I think I put enough pressure on my back foot. Do I need to stretch my body as I notice it mostly happens when I am in a "tucked" position (knees closer to the shoulders).
What role does the front leg play, e.g. do you keep it straight and then actively lift it up as you take off? Personally I can actually hold down quite a bit more power by trying to shift more weight to my front leg instead of sitting on the back leg too much. As a result my front leg is also bent quite a bit, not sure if that's good. For whatever it's worth, got 11.7m on the Woo
"Make sure you don't let the bar out and depower or the kite will overfly you" Best advice I have received - I could not understand why this was happening to me ...
That's quality content right there !

Wakeboarder here, looking forward to learn do jumps with kite 😂😂 thanks for the tutorial!

I love how everybody explains how to jump as big as possible but nobody explains how to land those big jumps 😆 😆

Excellent video Sam. Simple, no nonsense, quality presentation. Many thanks!
Many thanks!
Great video, thanks for showing the detailed barmovement - very good for understanding and timing
Superb video - loads of great tips thank you!
Thanks. The forward rotation you showed is my biggest problem. Usually followed by an accidental kite loop due to facing backwards
Nice video! Perfect bite size length and clear tips with good example videos.
Trim correctly was the best advice for me.
I went overpowered always thinking I would jump higher that way, and actually it's easier to jump HIGHER when kite is correctly trimmed.

Thanks Sam! very good details
Fantastic informative video Sam !!!
Excellently illustrated and thank you.

Really good tips, I did not know to sheet the bar all the way out before pulling it in when you are about to jump 🤘
That's really helpful thanks I'll be practicing down at Hayling 🏖️

Top work as always 🤙
Great tutorial! Can't wait to start trying🤙🏻
Thank you for the clear explanation. Can you please explain how to jump while standing on sand (just going vertical)?
I hope to one day try jumping, the closest I've got so far is when I were standing on the spot with the kite at 12 during water draging and I pulled the bar down a little and felt myself lifted off my feet. Good stuff - keep it coming :D

Oh, why are the diagrams with the Sentinel bar and you're riding the Guardian? Which bar do you like better and why?
thanks, i use both bars, its just personal preference really, i probably use the guardian more as you have a longer throw and a smaller chicken loop
good solid advice, hold that edge
Hey Sam! I like these instructions videos! Is it possible to share some tips for getting and staying warm during the cold winter sessions? Would be very usefull, now we can’t escape to a tropical destination!
Awesome. Thanks.
hey Sam. Could you, one day, please do a video on how to jump 20m. Cheers
Hey Sam, can you make a video on how to lend, lol. I can jump and pretty high but crashing so often
Awesome vid, thank you !
Amazing ! Good típs !!

what camera mount do you use to keep the go pro in your mouth? great video thanks!
Background music giving mushroom flashbacks hahaha😊
Muito bom obrigado
“Keep the bar in the entirety of the jump” about killed me.
Sam,, Do you keep your bar sheeted out a little bit before you jump? Do you move the kite towards 12 , while sheeted or do you sheet the bar all the way before moving the kite. I have been told that my kite moves to 12 slowly, but I move the bar as fast as I can

hey Sam, i take it you actually rate the Slingshot Crisis Kiteboard, or are you just sponsored by them? i want to get a nice freeride board
I use the slingshot crisis and the refraction, both boards are made by slingshot, yes i am sponsored by them
So good! 😉
Thx ! When i jump i just turn around my bar. What i’m doing wrong ?

Sam! Please record the video about kite looping!!! Cheers!
"Make sure you don't let the bar out and depower or the kite will overfly you" Best advice I have received - I could not understand why this was happening to me ...
Excelente!!!!!!
I found that sheeting out when im coming down provides softer landings, unless I am doing something else.
Can you do a tutorial on doing bigger jumps than those big jumps. They didn’t look very big to me…
New in the game from Kenya
What I don’t understand is how to release the edge?
I heard that "initiate input" for raising the kite is incorrect. Constant light oressure or even accelerated raising is a better technique.
Danke🙏
Thank you
thx
This would’ve been even better if we could see the kite as well
holy shit i didnt know u could get air that massive
Hi, in many videos it's said to let the bar out shortly before landing whereas you recommend to keep the bar in. What's better? Hang loose
Kite jump hi! Jump so hi I fard and shid pant
That’s cool seems funny my Ducati is even more cool and funny sorry
Is that a mask?
