    You are awesome Sam, i have been struggling with my landings as i am forced to jump on my side opposite to my default one so i can use waves kickers, i used the bar pressure tip and now i land most if not all of my jumps.

    The comment about keeping more pressure on the back foot to prevent forward rotation was very helpful. I have been having a hard time not rotating forward when I’m trying for jumps more than 2 or 3m so thanks for that!

    Trim correctly was the best advice for me.
    I went overpowered always thinking I would jump higher that way, and actually it's easier to jump HIGHER when kite is correctly trimmed.

    I hope to one day try jumping, the closest I've got so far is when I were standing on the spot with the kite at 12 during water draging and I pulled the bar down a little and felt myself lifted off my feet. I got to learn to get up first which hopefully I can try again in a few weeks time with a bit of luck. One step at a time and I wouldn't want to scare myself. I bet it's super fun.

    What role does the front leg play, e.g. do you keep it straight and then actively lift it up as you take off?
    Personally I can actually hold down quite a bit more power by trying to shift more weight to my front leg instead of sitting on the back leg too much. As a result my front leg is also bent quite a bit, not sure if that's good.
    For whatever it's worth, got 11.7m on the Woo

    Great video Sam 🤙 When you do that mini ‘bunny’ jump before landing on your edge carving up and sending it for bigger jumps, how do you do the mini jump, is it just a small kick down with your rear foot or both feet or you simply just lifting up your knees ? Also what do you do with your body and bar when doing this mini pop ? Maybe a video on this if you run out of ideas of what to make videos about,

    • @pr4nk5tr
      @pr4nk5tr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah got question, getting that board pop right is the basis for many moves, I'm still trying to figure that out too. I can edge super hard, yet not getting much pop really.

    can you do a specific video on edging? I'm fine with small jumps, but have problems holding my edge, when I'm trying to jump really powered... especially right before takeoff. It seems nearly impossible to edge more at this point. And could you also tell something about the course before takeoff? Does it make sense to ride more down or upwind before the takeoff sequence begins.

    • @SamLight
      @SamLight  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great idea! There is so many nuances with jumping, i could talk about it for hours. Its best to ride across the wind, the hop before take off can help but thats more advanced jumping

    Oh, why are the diagrams with the Sentinel bar and you're riding the Guardian? Which bar do you like better and why?

    • @SamLight
      @SamLight  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      thanks, i use both bars, its just personal preference really, i probably use the guardian more as you have a longer throw and a smaller chicken loop

    Sam,, Do you keep your bar sheeted out a little bit before you jump? Do you move the kite towards 12 , while sheeted or do you sheet the bar all the way before moving the kite. I have been told that my kite moves to 12 slowly, but I move the bar as fast as I can

    Hallo, have U tried to *flare, flap or pump* the trailing edge while up? Does it make U go farther at least?
    I do paragliding since 2001 (LTF2) and now that there are no mountains where I am now, I'll starr with kitesurfing.

    I very often rotate forwards when jumping, don't know why it happens but I think I put enough pressure on my back foot. Do I need to stretch my body as I notice it mostly happens when I am in a "tucked" position (knees closer to the shoulders).

  • @jondeur2686
    @jondeur2686 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    At 3:50 you say when steering initiate input and then let out the bar. Doesn’t that decrease power.?
    Any thoughts on timing? Edge first and then send kite? Send kite first then edge? Same time? Any thoughts on spotting a takeoff point? I’m pretty frustrated. Been kiting for 8 years and I just don’t consistently jump well.

    • @SamLight
      @SamLight  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you only let out the bar very briefly so it doesn't pull you off your edge until the kite is above your head. Edge and send kite at the same time, its always good to spot your landing, it's all about building as much tension in the lines as possible

  • @jimmyjames1411

    I found that sheeting out when im coming down provides softer landings, unless I am doing something else.
