Ronald !! I use you as calmer, your voice, humour and skills along with the music and the bast part of all, i think is your wife is all perfect thank you both
Top. Keep on turning. Groeten uit België.
This was so helpful I've been searching for ages how to make the eyes people show you to use the cup method but not how to make the cup! So happy will try tomorrow thanks again!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I really like your technical use of how to use the reverse cutting. I had never seen this before. Love the little owl. Great video..
Hi Ronald, thank you for explaining how to make a sphere and the eyes. Wifie and I love owls and these are lovely owls in love. I shall make a pair for her for Valentine's present. Bit late but she won't mind. Thanks for sharing.
At 14.10: Lovely example of a fine (really fine) cut Ronald. Thank you for doing and showing your videos, they're clear and detailed with ample explanations. ps, Absolutely love your workshop 👌
Well done!!!! Excellent tutorial!! I have been looking for how to make an owl. The mascot at my high school was “The Fighting Owls”. Many great pointers that will work on many other projects. Love the sphere making method!!
Great video and love the owl’s. My turning skill isn’t at this level yet but I hope one day to be able to make a bunch of these. Thanks so much for sharing your skill and passion. Take care!
I have had an owl on my to do list for some time. Maybe your video will push me over the edge. I love your videos and envy you having a partner willing to operate the camera. I would love that. I do cringe when you hit the awl with your hand. Put a bird cage awl grind on it an give it a simple twist to reduce damaging your hand. I know, I hate the safety police as well and here I am one!
Your videos are such fun to watch in addition to being informative. Kudos to your camerawoman; she is first-rate. Beautiful dog. Burmese mountain dog? 🐶 I like your folding ruler. What brand is it? Fun project.
The dog is a Appenseller Sennen Dog mixed with Labrador... The folding ruler is a typical dutch carpenter thing... We call it a duimstok... :-) This one is made by Sola.
Hi Ronald and thanks for another enjoyable and informative video. I was just wondering why the owl head isn’t staying in the body before turning the eyes? I’m using Purple Heart, which is very dense so thought this may be causing the problem. Would I be better using a softer wood for the socket?
Hi Mitchel, well to do the eyes, the head has 2 centre points. So that is one reason. The other reason is that i want the eyes to be in the side grain wood. Because it looks better...
Groet, kootje007
Hi Gregory, this one was made for me. But later i found out that Hager in Germany also makes them....shop.hager-drechseln.de/epages/Hager_Michael43959566.mobile/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Hager_Michael43959566/Products/90206 Grtz Ronald
Sanding lines... well that could be caused by bad sanding paper, or making to big steps in the grit, or not removing dust inbetween the grits... when you are finished with 120 sandpaper, sand the 120 scratchen away with 180. When you are finished with 180, sand the 180 scratches away with 240... and so on. If you are finished with 240 sandpaper and you still see 120 scratches, go back to 180... hope it helpt a bit... grtz!
I really enjoy your videos. On one of them you asked for ideas for more turning projects. How about more hollowing or bowl turning videos. By the way that beautiful one way lathe looks lonely in the background. Just sayin'

Thank you David!
Excellent vidio! It's great seeing you making something on the lathe, teaching us and enjoying doing so! Thank You.

Brilliant !!
A joy to watch and learn - Thank you.

At the beginning of the winter a bird is never fat enough! Good tutorial. I had to cut a cherry in my garden, I am going to try.
Good Luck Isaac! Post the picture of your Owl!
Beautiful owl! Great video with lots to learn. Thanks for sharing!

Hi. Great video, thanks. Easiest way of making a sphere, for me. Have tried other ways, but something just ‘clicked’ with your method. GREAT 👍
Excellent job, I am just getting started in wood turning and I would like to work up to this
Good luck James! Making spheres is great practising spindle gouge...
Wunderbar, Ronald...

I was watching this and kept thinking BOX! A tenon on the head and hollow out the body.
But if you put a tenon on the head, you can't move the head and turn it in all kinds of different positions....
Now you've got to make the babies 😉😀😂
Haha! Don't think so! 🤣
Erg leuke video! Heb op deze manier ook vogels gemaakt. Wel opletten met een te lange snavel, dan zakt het kopje steeds verder naar beneden door het gewicht, en kijkt ie altijd verdrietig... Groet, kootje007
Please continue saying mills. I can write that in an email to you too if you want?😂
Haha! Thank you Felix!
How many degrees is your spindle gouge?
39,875374 degrees Hanne
Approximately 40 degrees...
@@ronaldkanne haha Ronald. You are so clever measuring 👍🤣
Where can I find a Suck Chuck? I saw it with your platter video
