I is a pleasure to watch your precision and tool control. I have seen Hans turn at a AAW symposium as well as a number of his pieces, WOW! Your reproduction looks fantastic, thank you for showing us how it is done.
Your videos are on the long side with regards to length. This requires a lot of coffee, as I enjoy every moment of it😀 I would watch them even if I wasn’t a woodturner myself 😀
Excellent. This was a very enjoyable video. Thank you for sharing. I made two self closing vessel. They look great. But they both cracked. I will look for you on the next one
Oh, great project. The look on your face, so happy 😁 that it came out ok. I also enjoy starring up at the night sky through my telescope and Saturn 🪐 is my favourite planet (next to Earth 🌍 of course). It’s going to be a long time before I get the skill to make this project. I will try though. Thanks for another fantastic video. All the best from the UK.👍 🇬🇧
Some of us wish we had hair that would fly everywhere. I like the uncombed look. It's a Doc Brown "Back to the Future" look. This is a very interesting little project. Thanks for sharing.
In my part of the world (southeast United States) your hair style would be called ‘California surfer’. It looks fine and it suits you. I love the sanding jig. This is a nice project! Fun 😊, thank you for sharing.
Ronald, cosmic stuff, a lovely piece. I have a piece of box that might just be big enough for me to try this but first I need to finish my self-closing hollow form, it is still closing.
Agree with the first part of this comment BUT what a shame to end up seasick because the image is sometimes swaying all over the place. Also the music is unnecessary - it was ridiculous to have the sounds of the lathe, the sanding and the extractor, plus the music.
!!You estimate the centre of a branch, put it in the lathe and the tool cuts smoothly in straight away I do it and it chatters fit to shake the tool rest off and my branch looks like a big dog has had it!
You are unique in many ways....the hair just one item on the list. Would not be right if it were combed. I think after a few more decades of practice I will undertake this Saturn project.
Love the Saturn box !. I do have a question i hope you've not been asked a million times and bored answering 🙏, what bevel angle are you grinding your spindle gouge as it looks shallower than 45 ?.
@@ronaldkanne thank you for replying. I just replaced my old Robert sorby 1/2" with a posh Crown M42 gouge. It came with a rather odd grind, but still 45. I kept the 45 but ground the wings back further and it works nicely but it's ground to a very decisive point which I don't much like. My Robert sorby has a more rounded tip much like yours which I assume is down to flute profiles. To my eyes it looked like yours is closer to 40 & I wondered if that might make a difference?. I'm a bit cautious of doing lots of experimental grinds on such an expensive tool. PS, thank you for the videos as I learn so much every time.
Well, at least you have hair to comb. Otherwise, if no hair, then you are either trying to grow grass on a busy street or on concrete. Be proud of the hair you have!!!!

Very nice tool control, and sharp, sharp tools. Love this project!
Awesome as ever.
Great project. I will use the sanding trick for my next sphere turnings.
Fantastic turning 🪐🪐🪐🪐🪐
Great work!
This is the second time I'm watching this. I have the wood chucked up now. Again, thank you for sharing
Great project, detailed explanation and the big moment is the smile when it's finished, like a child at Xmas Eve. Thanks so much!

What a great piece
Excellent turning! I'm not going to even try this.... Fantastic box that only wood turners will truly appreciate
Beautiful 🙂 I don’t think I have enough ‘space’ in my shop for this 😀
I'm envious of your hair, I've been bald since my middle twenties 🤪. Very interesting piece of turning, great turning as always. Cheers

Maybe it is because (re hair) some of us don’t have so much! Flaunt it!
Can you spell Hans full name please. And I like the hair it's like mine when I let it get long. Great show thank you.

I’m 57. I’ve never used a hairbrush or a comb on my lid. Just don’t see the point. This is how I look. Your hair? Looks fine to me.
