    This is the best video on TH-cam for understanding the concepts once the air leaves the compressor. Thanks man.

    Aren't those filters supposed to be at a certain distance from the outlet?

    Nice compressor. I would put some anti-vibration pads under your compressor’s feet. Running it on concrete can cause fatigue/stress cracks where than feet are welded to the tank. You can get them at Grainger, Home Depot, etc. I like the ones with the hole in the middle. Regards, Shane

      Interesting! Thanks for the tip, I would have never considered this until it was too late.

    I'm with you on the oilier. I don't really see the need for one because you can keep the air tools oiled manually. I like your set up with the quick disconnects and all. That's a tidy install.

    Do any of you guys read manufacturers recommendations? 50ft of pipe b4 you put in any filter, dryer or anything. The pressure is way too high to work effectively. The air has to cool alil bit b4 it gets to a separator

      It's not Ideal but I don't have 50ft of pipe and its better than nothing

      @@LifeWithChase not really true! the hotter that air is the more excited the molecules are which can bypass any filter without removing anything.

      Even 50 foot of hose between the compressor and the water trap is better than nothing. But definitely not hooked up right up to the compressor. That’s way too close

    Nicely done my friend. I feel the same way 100% about the oilers. Nothing wrong with 'em, but I don't need 'em.

    This is a Drinking Game right right ? Every time somebody comments
    that the filters are to close to the air compressor you take a drink right ?
    Because at 2:57 he tells us they would be more effective on the wall but
    this is how it is for now.

    Just something to consider... I believe that regulator is rated for ~150 psi >>>max inlet

    • @Gtrfan76
      @Gtrfan76 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i believe i have that reg but haven't installed it, did you happen to verify this Matt? I asked what reg i needed and gave the manufacturer the model and that is what they sent.

    • @matt8134
      @matt8134 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Gtrfan76 Dean Brooks the regulator in the video I'm 99% sure is 150 psi max. Can't tell you for certain because he never said anything to my post. Likely just didn't want to confirm. The regulator has to have the max inlet pressure stamped in the casing to be certified under AMSE standards. All you have to do is look at it. If it does not, you don't have an ARO regulator and it is not ASME certified. Do not use anything that is not ASME certified.

    • @matt8134
      @matt8134 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or some sort of national standard certification. There are others, ASME is common in these applications

      @@matt8134 you are 100% correct. I have a 80 gal. 7.5 hp compressor with a 175 psi output and had like 3 regulators failing because they were rated at only 150psi max. Since then i brought a 300 psi and works perfect.

    I think that moisture trap needs to several feet away from the tank. Mount the traps on the wall and run your lines to the filters ,the father the less water

    • @LifeWithChase
      @LifeWithChase  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I needed a quick inexpensive, simple solution that beat nothing. If the compressor doesn't run much it doesn't matter much, because the air in the tank doesn't become hot. Under heavy use it would be better to have it further away and run through copper so the air cools down, but this is better than nothing and if you're compressor is only cycling every 30 minutes or so it works ok...I eventually want to buy some land and build a bigger shop but this works for now....

    Hi thanks for your video. Do you think can I use a regulator-lubricator system (like a DXcm019-0352 DeWalt regulator) but ‘bypass’ the lubricator component by not filling with oil/lubricant?

    • @LifeWithChase
      @LifeWithChase  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not familiar with that regulator but all the regulator, lubricators I've seen would still work without oil, it just wouldn't lubricate.

  • @boeingav8r
    @boeingav8r 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    everyones talking about the filter must be 50 feet from the compressor for cooling. Shoot, my shop area isnt even 50 feet long! Any other ideas how to remove water from your air?

    • @LifeWithChase
      @LifeWithChase  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can build a good water trap from copper pipe going up and down if you are skilled and have time. If you are just running air tools and not painting a car or something this is probably sufficient. Many will argue about it, but the fact is this beats nothing. Most of the time I don't use enough air for my compressor to run long enough to get hot so the air doesn't need to cool down, and if I am using that much air it's for something that it's not really critical to have dry air, such as big air blower blowing off mower etc etc. This has worked ok for what I do. I'm not running a paint shop where supper dry air is critical. I just wanted to keep the water from spraying out of my air tools 😂.

    100% agree oil tools everytime you use one. And no issues of oil where you don't need it. But I would use a whip hose. Build a Manifold on the wall. That setup will take a lot of stress when the compressor is running. Mine failed within 6 months set up like that.
    I'm going to build my own air dryer. Guy in one of the forums, has his homemade. Its from Thick wall 4" PVC pipe. He used the Desiccant stuff you can buy online. It comes in a gallon jug. And is killer for high volume air use.
