You can say it's close but objectively Rogue Wave wins in all aspects except musicality and even then the second round was quite musical... I have to clarify that I enjoyed Jairo's rounds much more and probably most of the judges too, but once you understand a little how the voting system works you realize that battles like these are not closed at all
@@nebojsavelickovic5388 But they are not just judging art, they are judging a battle. Your subjective personal taste of the best art is just one of the criterias, the last one i would say. Rogue wave were much better in many aspects of the Battle, u can go watch dlow's videos and see how is the process of his judging. It's gonna be very subjective many times, but that is objectivly many diferent aspects u can analyse to sctrure your decision.
@@nebojsavelickovic5388 there is objectivity in battles though. As I understand it, there are several criteria, including technicality, musicality, timing etc. which can be scored objectively.

the only problem with Rogue wave is that Jairo won the coin toss. So they have to go first that is why y'all forgot to mention how good their first round is. For my taste the first round go to rogue wave (not even close). To be fair the second round of Jairo is very* on point and has more battle energy than the first round they did on the other side Rogue wave being not 100% on point but keep in mind that the technicality and variety of sounds is way ahead . The music that Jairo brings is more enjoyable and easy to understand. But the technicality and the pure beatboxing skills of Colaps and River is just unmatchable . In the end I really glad with the result. Big up for Rogue wave and Jairo for pushing the boundary of what a tag team can do.❤
Yeah its not all about how good are them on solo, its about how well they delivered the rounds. And both give a crazy performance, however it was a very clear edge to rogue wave by one of the smallest of margins in gbb tag team finals but they did his style first round, and second round used very well to sort of "counter" the style of jairo up to that moment in the competition, very risky but they are profesionals bro, they ticked almost every box. Even harder when you have a insane crowd response just for start singing like a any major singer lol.
There is so much great music that could be made in beatbox thats not going to be top level battle round material - or at least will usually loose out to the superior 'box tickers' like Colaps and River (and yes those guys can write amazing music as well as elite battle rounds and I really enjoyed them here). If I'm introducing people to beatboxing I never show them battle rounds (except maybe Codfish). Imagine if battle events (with the same kind of judging criteria as these events) had always been the means by which musicians could claim the best success. Would that have been good or bad for the music world? - There might be a lot less empty spaces in a lot of songs...
I agree that rogue wave could have executed the second round way better ! But i think live you couldn't hear all the mistakes as in the video. But i think the first round was to good vs jairo's first. I would give first round to rogue wave, second to jairo. But the first is a large win. Also Jairo did covers and not original songs. So i would vote for rogue wave.
I'm starting to turn crazy with the reactions of this battle . Like COME ON ?! How can people can objectivly choose Jairo as the winner ?! I mean, don't get me wrong, this was a close battle and what Jairo brought was amazing and really refreshing and I absolutely loved it and I could listen to their music like regular music. And also, for a first appearance in the GBB stage, what they did was wonderful. BUT, if you stay objective : To say and prouve we should not minimize Jairo crazy muiscality, with extraordinary voice and bass techniques, people tend to minimaze the "most solo skills with more complex drops and more crazy beatbox tehcniques" to quote you. Yes, to sing is a special sound but how many special sounds does Rogue Wave have ? They absolutely smashed it, bought more energy and abttle energy, had a better stage presence, and their secound was an excellent answer to jairo style. Jairo spent to much time singing in their first round, and at the end it is "always the same" (not reallay but you get what I mean) Everybody's using the magic words 'more enjoyable"... but this is a *esh*ing battle and in a battle perspective (yes it is because judges have criterias but it is important) Rogue Wave won and it is obvious
I wouldn't say obvious, also you can't stay objective when judging art, art is subjective, everyone views it differently, so yeah, it all depends how judges see it, I'm sure there is some variant of judges that would have choose jairo, and jairo would have won
I think rogue wave deserved the win, although Jairo were amazing there was limitations and it may be a hot take from me but all there rounds are very very the same either musically sounding the same or more specifically structured the exact same build with a verse of singing punch into a drop where it’s either bass and throat tapping or unison vocal + bass and drums a lot of there rounds you can fit into the same structure and it became repetitive honestly rogue wave had a variety of genre, techniques even musical elements with that second round and were more of a variety through the whole comp, Jairo are amazing but they are performers not battlers they are probably some of the best beat boxers when it comes to musical style and performance but one of those B’s in GBB stands for battle and when it comes down to it rogue waves came in to battle and Jairo came to perform (nothing wrong with that) There’s my hot take don’t flame me to hard if you disagree haha
i think jairo couldve won if they had faster build ups and just less "dead times" or "breaks" whatever you'd call it, where not much happens. it's still a battle and therefor rogue wave wins for me for sure
