I just LOVE that everygame I was hyped for I instead saved and NOT bought It. ON release day I like to go into the forums, watch some HONEST youtube reviewers and laugh my ass off and congratulate the handsome man in the mirror for being gritty and not got my head spinned around by marketing.
Yeah I had this experience with starfield lol. I waited and waited and smiled at all the hype and cope and then laughed my ass off when people realized that they'd been ripped off. It was hilarious.
What I find frustrating is that for the last few years, every AAA game with convenience and customization microtransactions has been getting panned by gamers, and now many of the same gamers I saw complaining about the others are finding ways to defend it in this one. This happens with some many issues in a gaming. A game gamers like comes out, but does the same crap they've complained about for years in others, and suddenly it's not that big a deal, or it's different, or [insert excuse here].
I love when people compare anything Capcom related to Elden ring. I mean, Capcom is as greedy as it gets, but at least they aren't doing the same game for the last decade
None of the items up for purchase are being locked away from non paying players. You will find them in game. You are paying for shortcuts and nothing more. You can change/customize your character fully at the barber, in game at the first major town. It's blatant misinformation when people say you HAVE to spend money to do so. You can find the 10 port crystals in game through quests or stumbling upon them, just like the first one. Though they are as rare as they were in the first one. You can get the wake stones in game through quests, just like the first one. Though they are as rare as they were in the first one. There's nothing here being offered that's being locked away for only the paying players. I'd be on board with the complaints if the game devs had gone out of their way to make these items/features uncharacteristically hard to obtain or find, but they have not. Everything is in line with how they designed them in the first game. If they weren't, then yes I'd agree it's predatory and scummy. If you want to complain about the CPU being a bottleneck, or Denuvo, fucking go off king. But those complaining about entirely optional microtransactions, that only serve as shortcuts, are engaging in a wasste of time. Just don't buy them, speak with your wallets.
After I saw Denuvo and microtransactions, I decided to not purchase the game. The game won't even allow you to start a 2nd character which is unacceptable in 2024.
Only one character is fine, but no new game option is not. That is why they are pushing people towards paying to change their character. Yes, people can do it for free in game, but we shouldn't have to grind (or pay) to play the character we want if we've made a mistake or chaged our mind, especially for this price of game.
@@luke-47 they did state they will add a new game option soon. The first game also had similar weirdness with "new game" at the start. The item you use to fully change it can be found in game. It being in the store is only an issue because people who made a mistake cannot start over. I get that. But then the issue isn't the microtransaction, it's the lack of being able to start a new game. Which they said they will add soon.
the biggest issue for me that stops me HARD from buying is that everything is server side. in a single player game. so in essence whenever capcom decides to turn off the servers - that's it. gg. so you're literally paying 80+ bucks for the ability to play this game for 'some time' as nobody knows when they will shut the server infrastructure down. this isn't even late stage capitalism - this is plain robbery.
You forgot to mention how you can't start another playthrough if you have changed your mind or have multiple characters. Which is something so standard in every single game ever. But yeah!
They are adding in the ability to restart a new playthrough thankfully. Just find it it dumb they didn't include it on release. DD2 for me has been a fantastic game so far, but with so many odd little executive choices that make me scratch me head. Classic Capcom I guess.
You can, but you run the risk of being banned for doing that, very few "reports", especially with denuvo possibly flaggin it. EVEN THEN, WHY DO I HAVE TO EDIT FILES VIA EXPLORER FOR A SINGLEPLAYER GAME TO HAVE SAVES.@@hallyuniverse
I rly was hyped for it. But while i was warned about the performace, having a rig that should be more than enough still having dips in fps is not rly acceptable for me. On top of that MTX that was not talked about pre release. And not being allowed to restart my game without dabbling with save files manually is too much for me. I think if they admitted they would sell stuff from the start, people wouldn't be as mad. They decided to hide it. No reviews mentioned this, so it was never mentioned to any reviewer. Capcom fucked this up.
The performance I can absolutely understand people being pissed by. And I also think these microtransactions are scummy. But i'm surprised that this game received backlash for them, yet for example, the RE4 remake didn't when from what I recall, you could literally buy ammo and end game upgrades.
I would disagree with Odyssey, I hit level 70 really easily and never was stopped by the main quest. There were far too many damn forts in that game though...
I agree with your premise, but I haven’t played long enough to see how they effect the overall experience. I can see it being a problem if rift crystals are harder to get. I’m playing on ps5 and having a pretty good time so far. They should have just let the game stand for itself without the micro transactions. It does feel greedy, these days games companies want to be in your pockets forever, it’s pretty shameful to see.
Great video. People who are making excuses for this game make me sick. When games like Elden Ring, Balders Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3 hell even Starfield and none of these games have micro transactions of this nature. It's disappointing and sad. Inflation and greed are running the world right now, and for some people to say that this is ok and it was in the first game piss me off. The fact that your save file is in the cloud on a server doesn't make sense. It's just a bad look for capcom period. Thank you for your video. Just subscribe.

But there is no "problem" to sell a "solution" in DD2. Just play the game and explore. Performance needs improvements, yes. And I wouldn't add a "Online Store" to the title screen, steam store would be enough.
The game is still fine as is without the micro transactions. If u can ignore them you’ll be fine. Theres tons of content already packaged in. The character creator and gameplay alone makes it worth it.
I recently bought Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen cus of this yet I might stick with that instead and enjoy it, FFS I'm done with microtransactions. Even though how good of a game it is, graphically, I'm never going to spend 70 bucks for a half baked game. Heck they should've added a fee for exiting the game too since most of the features are paywalled.
What's so sad about this situation is that it doesn't matter anymore how good the game is - they ruined their reputation. And for what? Greed? It's also crazy how much they distrust their paying customers and at the same exhibit shady practices that make them not trustworthy.
Honestly, I don't see a problem with MTX in a single player game. It just gives the player a choice on whether they wish to buy them or not. My issue with the performance.
Nothing wrong with wanting to make as much money as possible. However, this can sometimes work to prioritize short term gains at the cost of long term health and sustainability of the company. But that’s a business decision, perhaps a very dumb one.
the only thing i can get behind on the anger is the no new game option. the Micro transactions are whatever to me , considering you can earn them in game
I understand the performance thats understandable, microtransaction isn't preventing from progressing in the like some games since everything is in the world for you to find. I take it at face value when people say DD is Itsuno's passion project so when this keeps happening (the first game already had crappy microtransactions apart from the massive budget cuts which led to content cuts) so it pisses me off. I agree the game itself is good if you ignore the technical issues and microtransactions giving it bad publicity.
@@MeowLesty it was. You could buy those things for the first game also. Theres never a need to tho, cause you can get all of it in the game so easily its really dumb to even consider buying anything from the store.
First and also a sad launch. I have the game parked at 1.9 hours played. I want to play but the performance is terrible in the city and they did not follow through on adding frame generation, I'll wait for 2 weeks before refund to see if they fix performance atleast. I tried the PureDark mod but it crashes for me. Game seems so fun and the plot is also interesting. Personally I don't care much about the mtx stuff but I do see the argument of how a game dev can never tune an experience just right if you can buy progression or aid it through outside game means. Just imagine a game like Sekiro that's tuned so tightly having mtx, it would ruin the game. So in some ways DD2 can't be designed to be challenging (only time consuming) because the mtx items need to have the justification of not truly being necessary except quality of life which also adversely affects how the game is fundamentally designed ala fast travel. Hence the overall game's challenge is bankrupt.
You can say that again, soon as I learned the goings on, I cancelled my pre order immediately, and put my eyes on No rest for the Wicked and Rise of the Ronin, what a greedy bandersnatch capcoms become, my reverence for them is at a all time low, never thought in a million years I'd hear myself say that at all about them

I don't remember ever refunding a game before this one. When my framerate on a 30XX card can't hit 40 fps and most importantly, you currently can't replay the game blew my mind. One undeletable save slot is insane. Imagine, it's 1993, you just bought the new Nirvana CD, and you could only listen to it once. The money crap, whatever, every time a company figures a niche way to charge you cash, other companies will apply it to their game regardless of context (looking at you Blizzard).
im not going below 80fps with a 3080. are you using a slow cpu like an I9-13900 and a 3050 or something? Remember newer is not always better, base clock cpu speed will always be more important than anything else. granted more nuance exists than just that but yea those new fancy cpus with low speeds are not better than the slightly older ones with higher speeds.

I definately see the problems for PC players. I am on xbox and expected something around 30 fps. Some games just have their frame pacing right and it doesn't really seem noticable when you are just playing the game. A perfect example is Starfield. I thought it was going to be a major hang up for the game but I genuinely never notice it. As far as the microtransaction stuff just play the game and grind it out. I still grind out the original DD like crazy for specific weapons or armor pieces, this game will be no different. And I think they don't want you to start a new game becuase it fits the whole narrative better. Like sure it sucks and is less accessible for most players, but they really wanted to deliver a vision of what they wanted the first game to be and I can't wait to get out of work and play this shit ALL NIGHT! It's been 12 years fellow Arisen, nothing will ruin my good time tonight 😅
Eh, I'll still play it. There is a most certainly an option to do things in the game so long as you explore, thats just there if your lazy. Its like the issue people had with exoprimal, you can get all the characters ingame they just added the option to buy them in the store if your lazy.
Huh , never really thought about that since I just did everything by progressing. I hate micotrsactions as much as the next guy but I do understand why it's there. Rift crystal where hard to come buy in the old game. Sending your pawn out was the best way to earn them but in time it will get harder to get them because less people are playing so your pawn is not used. So getting them will take a lot of time that some people don't have. That's all I'm gonna say I agree it's crapy but I see both sides.
You don’t even need a mod for that, you can already buy that item in the game with rift crystals that you earn for free by just playing. You can obtain everything they sell for real money in the game for free.
@nelsonbragg You can earn it in game, that’s what I just said. Same with port crystals, rift crystals, ferrystones, everything you can buy with real money you can get in the game. You don’t NEED to spend a penny. It’s all completely optional. If the microtransactions weren’t there it would change absolutely nothing.
Dude everyone is on record saying the ps5 out performs the series X in all areas and no one has said either version tips into the 20’s fps range. Stop lying.
Digital foundry’s video and igns both show the series x with roughly 10% fps gains over ps5, but also degraded image quality , and there are plenty of examples of the game dipping into the 20s , especially in towns . Personally I thought the ps5 version.
first and foremost the only negative for the game is the optimization and even then its not that bad if you are at least using the recommended specs. The people who are complaining about not getting 60fps just refuse to lower their settings. since I'm using a 2080 and an i7 4790k with 32 gb of ram. on medium to low settings at 4k im getting 60 fps. though my cpu literally is worse then the minimum required settings. As for the MTX all the items are only purchasable once and are quite literally the items that come in the deluxe edition of the game. The wakestones are so easy to obtain that you can get 3 in your first 10 mins and 4 hours in i have about 16 stored in the inn. The rift crystals are very much useless. since you can only use them to recruit hire level pawns, which isnt necessary since at your level and under is always free (also friends pawns are also free). the portcrystal is also easy enough to get but they are limited in the world. however being able to buy 1 is just pointless. So basically all items that you can purchase are obtainable in game and are easy to obtain. Next for not being able to delete your characters, that is 100% wrong. You can delete your character and turn off cloud saves. then you can restart the game. If you want multiple characters then you just move the save file to a new folder and do the same thing. then if you want to go back to that character you just move the files back into that folder. Sure its not the best but its 100% possible to make new saves and have multiple characters at once.
@@PeopleRTheProblem you can buy one like you can in the deluxe edition. Which is what all of the MTX are. They are the same items in that edition. Which not a single person had complained about, but when the debundle it then everyone complains. As for on consoles can you have multiple saves. Technically yes. plug in a usb drive to move over the save data. Then delete the save data on the hard drive. now you can create a new character and when you want to go back to the other character you just move that new data to a new spot and put back the old data you had. Its not that its not possible its just not convenient, but those saying you cant are just 100% wrong and are spreading misinformation.
Denuvo is the only issue I have. Microtransactiosn that are just items already gainable in the game don't affect me. And Capcom just gave all of their employees a raise. If mtx is the cost of a company giving raises instead of handing out layoffs, I'm okay with that. Denuvo doesn't even stop Pirates lol
While the micro transactions are bad and all, as far as I’m aware everything can be gotten from the base game by just playing through it. The micro transactions just make it easier to obtain them so that’s not too bad however not being able to start a new game is an absolutely terrible choice and that is reasonable to be upset over.
1. Performance is based off of each persons rig. I haven't experienced any issues or drops and I'm on ps5 2. Half of the microtransaction are locked out if you got the deluxe edition. they are also NOT NEEDED for progression. RC is easy to acquire simply by beating enemies in the world, and by having a pawn being used by another player. EVERYTHING CAN BE EARNED IN-GAME EASILY 3. the 1 save file is necessary as you are forced to be locked in on your decision throughout your playthrough until New game plus. this isn't Skyrim or Cyberpunk or the Witcher. you dont need to have multiple saves to play different styles. in fact we should be grateful they gave us an option to recreate during a current run in this game. 4. For the port crystal to work you still need to travel to the location to place them down. notice how they are not selling ferrystones or an eternal ferrystone. they are very rare and very expensive to come across in game. people are so quick to judge a game for having optional MTX but are willing and ready to spend thousands of dollars on other games that truly are predatory have have a worst experience. no one is holding a gun to your head an telling you to buy them. play the game as intended and you'll forget they exist. If you need the extra help then go ahead.
1) you are not experiencing problems becouse you are not playing on the platform that has the problems. As stated in the video the pc version of the game has DRM loaded that drasticly reduces performance with no practical gain. 2) if the microtransactions are not needed why include them at all. The idea that any microtransactions in a singleplayer game is acceptable needs to die and should not be excused 3) when i pay for a $70+ game i dont want to be told how to experience it. Addtionaly the forced inability to manage your own saves leads to a reliance on an autosave function that can screw you over. There is no upside for the player by removing such a basic function. 4) you are making the false assumption that the very small percentage of players who are willing to pay crazy sums in other games are the same people who are complaining about the microtransactions in this game. That overlap, if any, is extremely small. If the microtransactions provide no benifit to the player why should they be tolerated at all? What design decisions were made purely to provide for the existance of these transactions? Can you without doubt say that the game wouldnt have been diffrent if there were not any microtransactions? If the character change transaction didnt exist would the ability to modify a charater still be tied to an item in game, or would you have just been able to do it without artificial intervention?
@nelsonbragg I completely get it. I'm playing the game now, and never once did I have to look at the store and think I really need this. The mtx is technically Dlc for convenience. Once you buy it you can't buy it again. Not that you need them. Everything is earned in game. For people who want extra help because they don't have time that's what the dlc is for. Enjoy the game however you want and stop listening to people spreading misinformation. Nothing in here is pay to win. Nothing is gate keeping you from your journey. If you play through the game you get a chance to recreate your character again, or go to barber shops and use gold coin. Rc crystals are east to obtain by playing.
lol literally every preview included that bs commentary from developers on reasons why they're restricting fast travel, how it is more immersive without and mandatory for the true creational intent to come across. Plot twist u didn't see coming: Extending playtime like in DD1 (before Dark Arisen) alongside actually selling them to you as microtransaction! Great!
Its capcom this is why i told ya i never boight à gme froom them full price .... im not surprise they hide in fighting game for so long to make that look normal .. greedy
So here is the deal... The backlash on Microtransactions is understandable, but not warranted in the capacity that it is. The reason being, there is absolutely NO need to purchase them. There is a lie going around that you HAVE to pay to change your appearance. That is not true. Will I purchase anything from the Microtransactions? Absolutely not. But they are not in my face to do so, and they are not evasive. Now, to be upset about the ability to have other save files, and the performance issue for a poor port? I get it. Reasonable and warranted, and that is coming from someone that has NOT experienced a single one of those issues to this point.
Its sad. I was so excited. The game looks good too, I just can't support this. Denuvo was already a hard sell, but them there's everything else and I just can't. Refund just went through. Thanks valve.
Not having fast travel in such a large game just isn’t as fun unless you’re a extreme fan & if implemented would improve the game greatly…. Yet they claim it’s not wanted but include it as DLC. This looks to be a “Create annoying issue sell you the solution” scenario.
Everything is shitty about this but my real problem is the performance, is not well optimized at all which shows how much they care for the game, at the start I thought the character editor thing was a 1 time purchase but after carefully read it, is a single use thing so yea, also what's the point of a single player game if you have to be connected online to play man, for me the real problems is just performance and character editor everything else is kind of dumb but ok you can understand it to a certain point, I got my refund because to be honest this feels like the game is going in the wrong way, then they are gonna release shitty DLCs or maybe even block progress you already did because they released a new DLC (Destiny I'm looking at you) so yea very but I mean VERY stupid decisions from Capcom that make it feel like a scam, they broke Monster Hunter Rise for a lot of people when after a couple of years of release they decided to implement Enigma on it, people got suuuuuuppper upset and it makes sense, they fucked a game you bought and you cant do nothing about it, now there is absolutely nothing stopping them from doing even worst things whit Dragons Dogma 2, that is my worry and why I asked for a refund, their attitude towards costumers is concerning.

Could you imagine if Elden Ring sold runes and spirit summons as micro transactions?
What I find frustrating is that for the last few years, every AAA game with convenience and customization microtransactions has been getting panned by gamers, and now many of the same gamers I saw complaining about the others are finding ways to defend it in this one. This happens with some many issues in a gaming. A game gamers like comes out, but does the same crap they've complained about for years in others, and suddenly it's not that big a deal, or it's different, or [insert excuse here].
If this is the norm these days, the next game will probably have this -_-
That’s exactly what it is. As irritating as these DLCs are you don’t need them and they should be ignored.

@@obredaanps3only one character? that’s dragons dogma baby
So they made it an inconvenience so they can sell you shit? Most games just let you fast travel lol
the biggest issue for me that stops me HARD from buying is that everything is server side.
in a single player game.
so in essence whenever capcom decides to turn off the servers - that's it. gg. so you're literally paying 80+ bucks for the ability to play this game for 'some time' as nobody knows when they will shut the server infrastructure down.
this isn't even late stage capitalism - this is plain robbery.

Why the hell do that, wtf are they thinking?
You forgot to mention how you can't start another playthrough if you have changed your mind or have multiple characters. Which is something so standard in every single game ever. But yeah!
the original game only had one character slot as well, but at least you could restart the game.
Yeah, the inability to start a new game is inexcusable, like wtf? Its predecessor has a "new game" functionality
Well you can pay 1.99 for a new start and thats dicusting
They are adding in the ability to restart a new playthrough thankfully. Just find it it dumb they didn't include it on release. DD2 for me has been a fantastic game so far, but with so many odd little executive choices that make me scratch me head. Classic Capcom I guess.

I agree with your premise, but I haven’t played long enough to see how they effect the overall experience. I can see it being a problem if rift crystals are harder to get.

Personally I thought the ps5 version.
Haven’t pirated a game in a while. Might have to with this one as soon as they crack the DRM shit.
first and foremost the only negative for the game is the optimization and even then its not that bad if you are at least using the recommended specs.

Then delete the save data on the hard drive. now you can create a new character and when you want to go back to the other character you just move that new data to a new spot and put back the old data you had.
Its not that its not possible its just not convenient, but those saying you cant are just 100% wrong and are spreading misinformation.
Shame on capcom, they tried to do the same thing with Re4 Remake. By adding MTX last minute.
I was excited for this game until I learned it had Denuvo.
While the micro transactions are bad and all, as far as I’m aware everything can be gotten from the base game by just playing through it. The micro transactions just make it easier to obtain them so that’s not too bad however not being able to start a new game is an absolutely terrible choice and that is reasonable to be upset over.
You answered your own question. You started by saying micro transactions are bad.
@@PeopleRTheProblem I never asked a question I was making a statement
@@juliuspearce fair point.
1. Performance is based off of each persons rig. I haven't experienced any issues or drops and I'm on ps5
2. Half of the microtransaction are locked out if you got the deluxe edition. they are also NOT NEEDED for progression. RC is easy to acquire simply by beating enemies in the world, and by having a pawn being used by another player. EVERYTHING CAN BE EARNED IN-GAME EASILY
3. the 1 save file is necessary as you are forced to be locked in on your decision throughout your playthrough until New game plus. this isn't Skyrim or Cyberpunk or the Witcher. you dont need to have multiple saves to play different styles. in fact we should be grateful they gave us an option to recreate during a current run in this game.
The idea that any microtransactions in a singleplayer game is acceptable needs to die and should not be excused
3) when i pay for a $70+ game i dont want to be told how to experience it.
@nelsonbragg they did. Nothing is being gate kept. You can even earn the deluxe items
Great!
Its capcom this is why i told ya i never boight à gme froom them full price .... im not surprise they hide in fighting game for so long to make that look normal .. greedy
Persona 5 Royal still has DRM and no one cracked it
So here is the deal...
You were able to have more than one save file?
@@PeopleRTheProblem Sorry, not an issue with performance/bugs. Save file just isn't a bug, its a missing feature.
By the time ive completed it im sure there will be an option to restart lmao
Its sad. I was so excited. The game looks good too, I just can't support this. Denuvo was already a hard sell, but them there's everything else and I just can't.
Refund just went through. Thanks valve.
I'll hopefully get my fill when empress has her way with it
No one buy the microtransactions
Yes, keep preordering, people! Keep showing these companies that what they introduce it works 🙄
Let the AAA gaming crash continue!
Thank Gabe for Steam refunds.
I was just on my way to buy the game but when I heard this i choose to buy Ronin instead.
I love CAPCOM
but come on what a F………….
Not having fast travel in such a large game just isn’t as fun unless you’re a extreme fan & if implemented would improve the game greatly…. Yet they claim it’s not wanted but include it as DLC.
This looks to be a “Create annoying issue sell you the solution” scenario.
Good video. I agree with every word
Might buy it one day, but i did live fine without nr. 1
Also it depends on what els gonna be released in future and if i get a stronger PC xD
Second note, odyssey was amazing! Loose the crack pipes
But yet people pay hundreds for skins in multiplayer games!😂
Pretty sure the game can be beat without micro transactions…
All games can
Everything is shitty about this but my real problem is the performance, is not well optimized at all which shows how much they care for the game, at the start I thought the character editor thing was a 1 time purchase but after carefully read it, is a single use thing so yea, also what's the point of a single player game if you have to be connected online to play man, for me the real problems is just performance and character editor everything else is kind of dumb but ok you can understand it to a certain point, I got my refund because to be honest this feels like the game is going in the wrong way, then they are gonna release shitty DLCs or maybe even block progress you already did because they released a new DLC (Destiny I'm looking at you) so yea very but I mean VERY stupid decisions from Capcom that make it feel like a scam, they broke Monster Hunter Rise for a lot of people when after a couple of years of release they decided to implement Enigma on it, people got suuuuuuppper upset and it makes sense, they fucked a game you bought and you cant do nothing about it, now there is absolutely nothing stopping them from doing even worst things whit Dragons Dogma 2, that is my worry and why I asked for a refund, their attitude towards costumers is concerning.
They saw all the dollar signs when all you fan boys were creaming over the game before release
Don't buy the micro transactions ?
people have 0 self control and they will
@@MeowLesty then the people are the problem 😂
@@dhbee1254 The people exploiting the people are also the assholes that allow this to continue tho.
Wich leads to an industry churning out garbage and insane grinds that you can avoid by just... spending money so you can get to the fun parts directly
Where are the people that are like…”im glad they sell port crystals!” “Im ok paying to edit my character”
its free to edit your character. it costs very little in game currency at the barber.
They are not here cause the whole debate is a lie.
