      I dont think these guys are to stressed for food. Especially the hornet (if it is the same one every time).
      While there are some minor scuffles, there is very little actual fighting going on. The hornet repeatedly uses the raised arms gesture to intimidate the wasps away, and if they cant see it, it bumps them or "fake" bites them to get their attention. Seems food is plentiful and tensions are low. If ants got to be to much of an issue, the hornet would either get backup or just mozy along to the next food source. Plus theres enough wasps that ants would be good snack packs to just pick up and cart off.

    • @Ace_of_Horns
      @Ace_of_Horns 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@smugreptile6695 I agree, but idk about the ants being snacked on, if there are alot of the smaller variety of ants they could overwhelm the bigger wasps like they do with most bigger insects. If they were carpenter ants tho that might be different.

    • @mickcarson8504
      @mickcarson8504 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a queen, just a larger species. They're called Vespone in Italy. That's the bastard that attacked me when I paid a visit in Italy in late 70's in a time when rotten apples fallen from the trees were being eaten by wasps and some of them were bigger than normal. And this is the one. They're quite bossy over the normally little wasps.
      Also, depending on where this place is, I had not see any Hornets like this one (1:45) in Italy, which has a reddish brown head and shades of yellow head and body. This is probably a wasp from Japan that may have found its was here or introduced to eradicate other insects such as wasps themselves, as it does show a tendency to also attack wasps and other insects.

    Whereabouts is this place because the giant hornet is an alien here. That big one is certainly a Japanese giant Hornet. The rest are European Wasps. At 2:12, 2:35, 3:05 and 4:00, this is the giant European Wasp, sometimes very identical to Wasps in color, other times the head and body is a little darker. I remember these, when I was a kid I used to see them below fruit trees eating fallen fruits. This type is an aggressive Wasp, it attacks other Wasps indiscriminately (1:50). The two don't get on despite being in the same genera they have conflicts. This Wasp at 2:13, is alien, probably an introduced pest. It looks like a Japanese Hornet. But the Wasp at 2:29, that is the European giant Wasp. It is larger than the other normal yellow Wasps, notice the body has same colors? Whereas this one has to be definitely an alien Wasp 4:17). What country would this be?

    • @melodicpixelmedia2115
      @melodicpixelmedia2115 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @Beos_Valrah
      @Beos_Valrah 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wrong, this is clearly not a Japanese giant hornet but a European hornet (vespa crabro). Also there are no "giant European wasps" in this video, but actually common wasps or German wasps. The one at 2:29 is a paper wasp like the person above me said, that's it. Get your facts straight!
