- Hey guys!! I hope you all had a great weekend (or long weekend if you are in the US!) I wanted to organize and clean my single shadows and decided to take you along! I know so many of you have been enjoying the longer overhead video so I hope you like this one too!! I always think if I depotted my shadows and put them together in a way that speaks to me I would get so much more use out of them!
I don’t buy palettes anymore - only if there are enough standout shades for me to depot into my collection - which is rarely the case, as I have so many beautiful singles/depotted singles.
I was the same way! I depotted all but two of my palettes and it was a great decision for me!
Same! I plan on eventually depotting them all. Then I have all the power to create color stories!
I hardly ever buy a full palette anymore. I love handpicking the shades I want to add to my collection, instead of the ones they want to give me. If I never see another brown (light med or dark) I’ll be the happiest person on the planet 😂

I still use my Coastal scents hot pots to dupe palettes. Balsam is one my favourites.
I just recently got into makeup, so I never used them, but every time someone mentions them I always think how weird the brand name is. It sounds like they would sell wax melts or aromatherapy oils, not makeup.

Okay, I had to pause at the beginning to go check out the Coloured Raine magnetic palettes. They were not only half price, they were also BOGO. So I paid $22.50 for two of them. Shipping was expensive, but even paying nearly $11 for shipping, I still feel like I got a good deal.
Excellent deal! Wish I had the money to take advantage of that.
Im in Aus and just had a look it’s $45 shipping to here and still think I’m going to get them. Been tempted for so long

@@hellotrude I follow your account 😊 I’ve been tempted to press some of my pigments and I found you that way. I think I’m going go ahead and get some of these palettes there’s nowhere in Aus that has any this decent so I think with the deal it’s worth it 🤔

That one I didn't mind. The Juvia's Place/BH palette not being in even rows though... That is why the single shadow life is not for me, but I will still watch any video Lauren makes about single shadows and depotting!
@@samantha6564 yeah I wouldn't be able to do single shadows unless I had a set number of them and knew they were all gonna fit in the palette and there wouldn't be any empty spaces lol
I have all of my shadows in magnetic palettes (I depotted absolutely everything I had) and sure inside squares are with circular pans sometimes, but my ten xtra large palettes are perfectly identical, which is oh so soothing compared to having different shapes, sizes and colored packaged palettes from different brands, hehe!!

Idk why but I really thought you owned some shades from Devinah! Their shimmers are super sparkly and shifty so they’d be right up your alley imo
I second this! Devinah is super hard to get a hold of, but the 3 I own are 3 of my favorites for sure! The most economic and beautiful multichrome shadows ever!

my tip for magnetic palettes that you don't like the design of or that are a bit beat up: I bought a roll of decorative adhesive foil, the kind you can stick on furniture, it works perfectly and you can even put it on the magnet sheet, the pans still stick to it the same. I now have a set of matching white wood grain palettes.

Love having found someone who depots and organizes their shadows. I organize and reorganize as the collection grows, mostly by color but not always. The new Makeup Geek square pans are in their own pallet . . . because they are square. lol. Actually miss the old MG round pans. Sad to hear about Costal Scents because they were one of the last places to buy single shadows. :-(

Okay, so this is fascinating to watch. I just put a few depotted small palettes into two larger ones. Not knowing how to do it, I organized by color, tone and finish-all in gradient-never considering which shadows were from which brand. Obviously, I was dealing with not even as many shadows as fits into one of the CR large palettes-and I am also not a TH-camr-but it seemed odd to me that you separate by brand. If I’m looking for a light gray, I want them to be in one palette, not six. If you were just a regular person, would you still organize by brand? Also, in a perfect world, shadows would all be square and of the same size so you could just create gorgeous mosaics of color.

I just saw a single shadow that u did a year ago. It amazing to see how much your collection grew. U inspired me to depot some of my palette shadows. It helped me get excited for what I have and to really see what colors I have in my collection....now I'm not so tempted to constantly buy more palettes

You inspired me to look up those Anastasia glitter magnetic palettes AND the Coloured Raine 96 pan monsters (amazing deals on both right now!), and I'm so beyond grateful that I found your channel. Hey Lauren, just started watching your channel and it’s soothing my anxiety with all the organizing! Do you show how to de-pot shadows from different types of palettes? I tried before and destroyed the shadows in the process!
She has a few videos depotting shadows from lot of different palettes on her channel!
When I depot a palette, I often start with shades I am indifferent about keeping. That way, if I break those while getting the hang of the depotting process for that palette, I'm not that upset about it.
@@jessicaharrison4719 I started the same way, until I got the hang of it. For original commenter just try to break it down as much as you can and don't be in a hurry. Maybe get a pipet or something and use alcohol in between the layers to help make them easier to remove. Good luck!
I looove Terra Moon shadows so much. I'm surprised that in your entire shadow collection you don't have any from Give Me Glow. I feel like they'd be right up your alley and their pan sizes are the same as JD Glow. Also, I think it'd be cool to see a video where you create a look (or a few lol) with your 'big pans' palette!
After watching this video, I finally grew the balls to take apart my CP Bare Necessities and Stone Cold Fox palettes. I love a handful of shades from each palette for an everyday look, so I took them out to form one palette.
It’s crazy because I’ve been into makeup for over 10yrs now and these are the first ‘major’ palettes I’ve ever depotted lol. For some reason, I always felt the need to keep products in its original packaging since it’s part of the novelty of makeup releases. But I think I’ve gotten to the age where I care more about functionality (if I’ll actually use it) rather than hype or packaging of a product.... but lowkey, the upcoming MAC Botanic Panic collection is telling me otherwise😍🥴😂

One of the best decisions I made was learning how to take the mirror out of my Coloured Raine palettes. They're SO CHONKY otherwise, and imo there's really not a reason to have a mirror in there. I recovered mine in faux leather and took the mirror out and they're perfect!
I got two on the BOGO (+50% off) they recently had, and that brings my total to 12. Haha
Glad this came up. I just ordered 2 big palettes from coloured rain. I had a huge order waiting for the give me glow ones. They keep claiming it will ship, but has been sitting in pre-shipment for over a week. Long story short, I'm upset cause I needed it, so I'm so glad that colouredraine has them for a decent price too

My single shadow collection is a mix of Sydney Grace, Colourpop, & Looxi Beauty. Oh yeah, and I got a bunch of singles from Pinky Rose to try out recently too.

Your de-potting videos inspired me to de-pot my Deck of Scarlet palettes. I loved them but I didn’t use them a lot because the three pan color stories didn’t fit how I do my make up so adding them all to one big magnetic palette will hopefully have me reaching for them more often. Thank you!!
You should do a challenge where you take your biggest magnetic palette & act as though you’re only allowed to keep shadows that fill that palette! I’d love to see a cutthroat look at what brands / colors are ACTUALLY your preferences

Have you tried Pastel Roses yet? Annette just did a video on them, and they look like they might be something you’d be interested in. They have some really sparkly duo and multis.
I have around 1000 single eyeshadows and while I mostly use mega palettes - organising them is a constant struggle. Do I arrange by colour? Brand? Type? Pan shape and size? I can never settle on one arrangement. Ugh! The struggle is real! 😝😂
These days I keep all my Clionadh and my multichromes together - my Glamshop together - and then everything else by colour.
Every 2-4 weeks, I sit an pull out 30 or so new shades and just focus on those. Then I rotate them out and bring a new rotation in. That way, I’m using most of my collection and I fall in love with shades and brands all over again. 😊😍
I have a similar way of organizing, I have around 400 singles. I have a palette strictly for clionadh, an all iridescent palette, and a palette for all of my jd glow shadows because they’re so big, everything else is organized by color, also sub categorized by mattes and shimmers. I too do monthly palettes to rotate my collection.

I have two medium-sized magnetic palettes for single shadow storage and a single nine pan one where I put together looks for the day/week. I often take out some of the shadows from my premade Colourpop palettes and it feels so freeing to be able to do that (and relaxing since my counter top doesn’t get cluttered with multiple palettes and I don’t have to remember what specific shadow(s) in those palettes I want to use). If Colourpop ever switched to gluing in their shadows instead of magnetizing them I’m going to be very sad.
You should check out the give me glow empty pallets! They are bigger than the coloured raine ones

@@jennifermelloy3944 I think they hold around 60 of the give me glow shadows but I have the power coloured raine pallet and one of the give me glow ones, give me glow is about 1.5 times the size of the coloured raine one

Sydney Grace always has their Christmas in July sale! I have a couple of the xxl Give me Glow empty palettes, along with some Adept, Amazon and magnetic palettes from shop MissA. I think I need to re-organize my singles now!! I have mine by brand too, but my Devinah, Terramoons, SG, and JdGlow all have too many to fit in just 1. I’m so inspired to do a do over! I have mine organized by collection as of now.., but I want them color coordinated now too! They look so beautiful this way instead!

Honestly singles & depotted palettes are dangerous!! Once you have some you can’t stop ! Even after decluttering 😂 , I did declutter my palettes & singles I think 4 or 6 timed & I’m always adding new palettes or singles!
Like 2020 made me realize I actually have a lot & I love what I have , and suddenly last month I went to terramoon website to have a look at what possibly I could buy ! 😬 also now thinking of some lethal ,MUG & Sydney grace singles to add to my collection & depotting my magic palette by Juvia’s place! So that I don’t buy a repeated shade ! And also I feel GUILTY decluttering it 👌🏾🥺✨ it’s too pretty to pass on !

Speaking of additions; I’m in the middle of building my blush palette ( which is basically depotting single blushes into a magnetic palette ! ) and that’s alone needs a strategy lol 😂
