    Hi Tom, if you want to silence the smoke alarm. Isolate at the consumer unit, if they are mains powered with a replaceable battery backup (might have a dedicated breaker for the smokes or might be on a breaker for a local lighting circuit) Pop a 9v replacement backup battery in and it will be happy again. No more beeping :)
    All the best, Pete 👍

    The smoke alarms are AICO , find which one is beeping , on the side is a slot for a thin screwdriver, push it in and ease it down and slide the smoke off the base. All the others will still work ok. As regards pipe sizing I would have thought up to 4 rads on 15mm , if 22mm will do 10 or more radiators. ?? I appreciate it's better to be safe than sorry. Keep plodding along with camera on a stick 😂😂

    • @PlumbLikeTom
      @PlumbLikeTom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the support mate, I wanted to split some of it off as there would have been 6 rads off 15mm, It should be easier to balance like this, I'm hoping to get the flow temperature as low as possible but still need to check the downstairs rad sizes, ideally I would set it to 60 but I guarantee it will get turned up the second I leave the job, the smoke alarm has stopped beeping today, it's absolutely typical

    Get what your saying about using a rule of thumb not running more than 2 rads off a 15mm pipe run, but you see a whole house run off 8mm micro bore?
    Just a thought, great video as always Tom!

    • @PlumbLikeTom
      @PlumbLikeTom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know what you mean mate, in theory the days of microbore should be going with the new max flow temperatures but I'm sure they will still use it, thanks for watching as always

    • @dennisphoenix1
      @dennisphoenix1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Microbore has one 8mm or 10mm to each radiator, you can't feed 2 radiators with 8mm or 10mm . 15mm and then split to 8mm or 10mm . If you consider the volume of a 22mm pipe has 314mm squared a 10mm pipe has 50mm squared so 7 runs of 10mm has the same volume. So running a 10mm from a 22mm pipe or manifold to each radiator is sufficient.

    I wonder if you can give me some advice? I’m based in Hertfordshire, I have a keston qudos 28s boiler, the pressure sensor has gone but the part is obsolete. I can’t afford a new boiler. Is there anything I can do to get it repaired? I’ve been without heating for 3 weeks. The keston part is c10c217000 - is there a generic part that would do the same job? Sorry to trouble you but I’m really stuck! Many thanks

      Sometimes the pressure switches just get blocked on these, have you tried cleaning the end of it out, I'm not sure if there is a replacement off the top of my head but I can have a look in my stores and if I've got one you can have it, I've got a mate who deals with Kestons, I will have a word with him on Monday when I see him and ask if there is a replacement part

    RE: Present for the Mrs. This will make you laugh. Long time ago I was doing a big install in a empty house that was going to be let by a large country estate, brand new oil Rayburn was delivered to site. ( My Materials, not theirs)
    Delivery guy rolls it off the back of the truck on a pallet, drops it at the top of the steps and takes his pump truck back to lorry, i'm inspecting the Rayburn before signing for it and he walks over with a large cardboard box.
    " Here's you free gift mate" He says, I stuck it in the van and moved the Rayburn.
    When I got home at night I opened the box and it had the genuine AGA cast iron pots and pans, HAPPY DAYS!!!!. Big bucks worth.
    I stuck it in the garage and said nowt to Mrs, eventually I wrapped it up and gave it to the Mrs as a present! 25 yrs later shes still using them and got no clue, unless she reads this of course...... 🤣🤣👍
