I'd like to see back to back spl testing with the v1and v2 same box, same power level. Most people will be upgrading with same box so it's a fair comparison. Its obviously going to handle more power so if the efficiency is equal or better it will definitely be an upgrade.
I am currently running rev. 3 and I am old school, love it. I cannot wait to hear a new version. rocking a Wolfram 2400.1 turned down a bit on my rev 3. Pounds Period. I opted for an upgrade to a U-18 d.2. Its all good when its Sundown.......
I just hope it will live up to the original S.A. series subs. The S.A. series sub is by far the best and baddest sub I've ever owned by far. I was blown away by the performance of them. I hope the newer one can fill those shoes is all I am saying.
My husband wishes I would let him spend more money on better 15” speakers. He wants to do competitions but I don’t want truck that loud. You have very good speakers and I like the green truck you built with the 4- 18” sundown speakers

Why don't you emboss specs like impedance and RMS power? These subs last for decades and its hard to find specs later for buyers of pre-owned subs.
It seems like the material the coil is made from makes more difference. Black aluminum coils vs pure copper coils . Black aluminum coil seems to mean stick to rated power or below amd copper seems to be able to handle a range of power.
There's 3 companies in China that make all the subwoofers in U.S.A ... design and engineer is a different topic .. but all made in China

There's plenty of American made subs...all the mid-high end sundown subs, most DD subs, all of Fi, the new Wolfram sub, Hutchinson, DC..
Aye Wusup brother. First and foremost I wanna thank you for all your knowledge and content you put out to your subscribers. I honestly appreciate it. I purchased the SA v12 1000 watt subs with the 3k amp. I have them in a box that was built for a buddy a while back for 2 jl audio w7s.not sure what it's set to regarding hz. But I'm sure it's between 30/32hz. I wired them in parallel series but not bridged to the amp. They sound amazing with the gain turned to 32 hz and other settings at recommended setting. It was hitting super hard and then I thought I smelled something coming from my truck. I have a 2012 Denali. So I opened the back and didn't really smell too much but did smell a little burnt. But when I push in the woofers they feel normal unless I push them in almost all the way in them I hear a little scratchy. Like it loosened the coil a little or sun thing but not too sure. I can still play them and they still slap but wanted to get your suggestion or help on what steps or precautions to take next. I also want to mention I really wanna upgrade to the z or x model 10's. Just cus I like the ways tens sound.Any questions , comments, advice would really be appreciated my friend. God bless and keep the videos coming bro. Take care
Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't the v1's handle 1k easily? I would like to see both subs powered to failure in order to really determine how much of an upgrade
All their power ratings are very conservative. Can easily put 2-300 more watts than its rated if you know what you are doing.
@@timmythurman8801 I'm confused! Adding a few hundred rms to each sub isn't proving upgrades unless it's to failure so we see which sub makes out with the most power and value
Improving all the things he did will make the woofer more efficient. That’s for sure.

@@Carlossteezyblunts v2 is fantastic, worth the upgrade. Just don’t buy from D4S. Lots of other retailers also stock them.

@@Carlossteezyblunts I saw first hand how JP treats his employees and have been to their warehouse many times. I will never spend another dime there ever again. Their warehouse is literally 5 minutes from where I work and I have no desire to go back. I’ve never bought any product from them with JP’s signature, but I know for a fact he trains his employees to sign gear for him all the time. There are many other good options like “Apex Audio” and “Woofers ETC”

I'm always interested in new subs. For me I don't think anything will beat the combo I get with the x or z 15. The combination of a 30hz or lower fs for sq, shorting ring for sq, 15 inch for efficiency, and high mechanical and electrical linearity for sq and low extension is really the perfect combo for me. I know that the SAs also come with shorting rings and have good linearity and power handling for their class so really the main thing I'm interested in is the fs. This might be the perfect sub that I could recommend to someone looking for a similar sounding setup but using a smaller box or the same size box but more power.
I got my SA v2 today I love them I got one from the yard sale and its brand new nothing wrong with it I will be buying more. Sundown audio keeps up the good job. 👍

SA V2 15" D2 hooked to a Mini 3K can we see that in the jeep
How much space does the motor need for proper cooling? If I do a swap out, I will only have 1/4 inch from the back of the motor to the back of the enclosure. If I add a 1/2" spacer ring to the baffle, the excursion might be an issue in my down fire console enclosure.
I have a jl 1000/1v2 amplifier will it push this new and improved sundown sa v2 sub ?

Just a couple more questions: What is the difference in X-max? I do believe, that the original is 18 mm, which gives a total "throw" of just over 1-3/8 inches. What about the SA.2? is the free air resonance similar?(about 29 Hz)

I need to get my hands on those. Problem is here in Vegas I've been to 2 shops and when i ask about Sundown speakers they tell me it's just an internet daze and they don't carry them. Any shops you can recommend I visit to purchase and have installed?

What gauge speaker wire should I use for these? Keep in mind I will have to jam 2 into 1 for parallel. Also planning to run a 2400w amp with them but was told I should a bigger amp.
Same sealed enclosure for Classic vs SAv2? EBP of Classic 10" is 67 whereas EBP of SAv2 10" is 97. SAv2 seems like a way better candidate for ported and Classic could go either way. I've even seen a TH-cam video where a guy pulled up Sundown specs on his phone which said: sealed enclosure recommendation for SAv2: NOT RECOMMENDED. What am I missing here?
I am interested in someday putting 2 SA-12s in a custom built triple braced birch plywood sealed enclosure stuffed with mineral wool and an SAE 2000D amp in my 2015 Toyota Camry after I upgrade the alt and to 0 gauge wire and installing aftermarket speakers and 4 ch amp. I am more a sealed enclosure person because I listen to a lot of psytrance and highly doubt that a ported enclosure would have a quick enough transient response for those galloping bass notes especially in dark forest and hi tech psytrance.
Could you put both of those in the same ported box or would it cause problems? Version 1 and version 2
Why does the 10 inch say that sealed is not suggested but the 12 and 15 do have a suggested sealed size???
2 things, due to having a smaller cone it's harder for it to get low, and the cone moves more, so porting it is much more beneficial than putting it in a sealed box
@@UniCrafter i always run 10s sealed and they get plenty low. I have 3 wolfram ag 10s right now and they get down in a sealed enclosure. Infact I am about to pull this 4th order out and build a new sealed enclosure cause it sounds so much better to me.
@@devillenm5525 250w gets my 12" sub an inch of excursion so 1000w on a 10" is likely too much, unless its in a tiny sealed box, in which case it'd have no low end, so its likely a case of excursion control

I will want to try a pair of sa subs. I went from 4 Kicker C12a when I was 28, to 4 RF RFD 1212 when I was 30, in my 97 S-10. Now that I'm 46 and drive a 4Runner I want to try 6 12's. :D

My sa 15 v2 subs are reading 2.8 to 3.1 ohms. These are brand new subs and they are labeled d4 4 ohm. My final load is .7 ohm. Is this right or or a build messup??????

Would a skar skv2 2500.1d push 2 12s? The amp is said to be underrated, so I'm guess it's pushing around 3000 watts. That's 1500 watts per sub at 1ohm. I already ordered these subs so hopefully it turns out well. I have upgraded electrical, 400amp alternator upgraded battery

@@TokenTombstone not enough power. It does rated power but with box rise honestly just get a bigger amp. I got a jp63, alot more power than what I need but there is nothing more disappointing then having good electrical but not enough power from the amp to your subwoofers. I have enough power to push bigger subs now. Better to save up and get a big amp then have to get 1 later
The subs sound good but they don't play as low compared to sundown better subs
