An extraordinary performance of JS Bach music for a single voice! I particularly liked the Saraband at 8 minutes. His soprano playing at 13 1/2 minutes is superb! Listen and see if you too, admire Nobuya Sugawa's musicality!
Unexpected?! Well I guess most people don't know that the saxophone was made for classical music, but because of "saxophone biases" in the classical community there hasn't been many pieces written for it. Its sad that the common consensus around the classical community is "saxophone bad, clarinet good", but thankfully that has been fastly changing.
Unfortunately, the classical and romantic periods are over, and most new composers write that 12-tone rubbish. At least we can still adapt old music to fit the saxophone.
He does a great job, but the music was not meant for a sax, But I would much prefer to hear it on the violin for which it was written. Now Charlie Parker doing this piece, I would dig.
@@mitchparker6319 If you have perfect pitch, yes. Although, I wonder if people really hear it when ALL notes are in 440Hz. I mean: there are still saxophones tuning in 440 Hz and nobody is complaining that it is flat. I think JachaTaita hears something different: SOME notes might be flat (I didn’t hear it), or he/she is just not used to the tone color of Nobuya Sugawa.
Bach on Sax?! What a beautiful and peaceful rendition, skillfully performed. Loved it.
Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
So nice to see a saxophonist play this beautifully that doesn't have circular breathing. Make me feel more inspired ✨️

It’s a pleasure and a privilege to hear Mr. Sugawa playing anytime, his passion and technicality are always unsurpassed . Bravo.
I love hearing instruments played in unexpected music genres. And to hear someone so skilled makes it even better.

@@zipherdias420 well said! Exactly what I've been thinking!

“I wonder if anyone has ever done Bach on sax” (me 2 min ago)

Bro, even me I just had the same thought just now. It's amazing that you had it 1 year ago and I today. It's crazy!
@@Lol-h1g7oi feel like Bach is very common in pretty much every instrument, cause most of it can be monophonic

From 13:30 to the end, it’s a soprano.

I like jazz sax, but this is at another level.
not jazz at all, classical sax at its maximum level!
Alto Sax should be added in orchestra
trueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
It is lmao
@@aranzabonanza7231It’s still not common though. It’s actually a pretty interesting story as to why it isn’t
@sirboomsalot4902 yeah I was being a pedantic ass lol my b
The entire saxophone family should, it's the perfect bridge between the woodwinds and brass sections.
look at those cheek muscles !

この人の速いフレーズとかトリルの誤魔化してる感満載の弾き方がどうしても好きになれないんだけどw
どうしたら良いんだろう?www
I don't feel any expresion, I hear it very flat. Does anyone think the same? I may be wrong.
How a scuffed low note kept on being played in every phrase kinda irritating
Sometimes it's better to taste the meat and not the heat.
You may be hearing tones flat because you are used to hearing in 442hz. Many saxophonists are used to tuning to 440hz.
