- Time to check out the TH400 and see why it is whining like a supercharger, and if it is because of something I did. Got some cool drive along footage as well.

Thanks, it drives nice. Funny thing is the long air filter I had on there broke off and fell into the engine compartment at some point, I took the car back out and it took off way faster and I could hear the turbo whistle LOL. I ordered a K/N dry filter, hoping it isn't as restrictive as the one I found on the shelf, but I can see why I see some turbos with only a screen instead of an air filter. There was a noticeable difference.

Did you make sure to put the fire ring on your wastegate? It’s common to forget sometimes.

I’ve always wanted to do the jaguar front end do you think it’s the best budget option or are there any other options you would recommend?
Thanks! I don’t remember any separate ring for the gate, it had a machined step to fit into the flange on the header and doesn’t seem to leak. As far as front ends I have been using the jag for years, but in my area I can pick up a donor car for $500 or less, but they are becoming less common since they are now 30-40 years old. Nova, Camaro, and G body clips are always an option as well depending on track width. I picked up a 90 corvette to try that suspension on a future build, they are becoming cheaper to get. The fire ring looks like an extra vband flange but it actually slides into the wastegate and sits in there to seal it.
Was there one like that in the box?
One of my buddies forgot to put his in and his car would not really build boost and was sluggish. It’s kind of like driving around with the wastegate cracked the whole time.
It was night and day after he installed it!
Also It’s always good to perform a boost leak test on everything, you don’t want to be missing out on any of your hard earned boost!
Even at 4psi i would expect it too pull pretty nice but maybe you’re just use to fast cars! haha
@@asotelo2715 lol it pulls fine, I am just used to big block low end torque. I really haven’t gotten on it yet. Actually the big air filter broke off after the drive and the car felt stronger, so still running fat. New air filter on order and will continue to tune it before I do a WOT hit from a stop. No fire ring in the box, just extra springs.

I come from the import world, mitsubishi 4g63 stuff where we would just boost like 40psi all day and break stuff and replace lol
So pretty familiar with turbo builds and tuning but not so much all the custom fab work like you did to this chassis.
My build will definitely be inspired by yours!
