    Hello Nigel. I am genuinely happy to see your new greenhouse coming together. What a great boon for your bonsai efforts. It will be beautiful. It will be great for the coming winter. Wonderful to have a green place to work and just be during the cold months.
    Can't wait to see the finished product.
    I don't normally use this term but I say Kudos to you.👍

    I used pea gravel for a greenhouse I had back the 80's and I remember wishing I had not made it so deep. I like the idea of making a hole in the middle and filling with gravel to facilitate drainage. I would recommend no more than 3inches of gravel. Too deep and it gets hard to walk, like on the beach.

    • @Thimbrethil
      @Thimbrethil 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s why he is gradually presing it down, to eliminate airpockets.

    • @alanmclennan8797
      @alanmclennan8797 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Thimbrethil it wont help, it needs "Fines " to hold the pea gravel together, plus you can not compact gravel and it will always move under foot without the fines to lock it together... Nigel.. top it off with crusher fines, believe me!

    I was wondering how the fork lift traveled to the site and then I saw it kind of hanging in the back of the truck as it drove away. That was interesting. The fork lift must weigh a lot, but then again the gravel load is heavy, so that adds to the weight of the truck.

    How cool is to have a forklift attached to the truck like that!
    Is the gravel going to be the floor of your greenhouse or are you going to put pavers or something over it? I don't know how good will the overall compaction be when you put in a thick layer.
    Liked the idea of the rock garden!

    a word to the wise....I badly injured my foot doing some gardening on uneven ground wearing backless shoes. always wear good support as hurting tendons, ligaments and giving self plantar fasciitis is really unpleasant for a long time. and I mean off the feet icing and resting it. when you consider how important and delicate feet are and how much weight per square inch and how many bones and tendons and ligaments all work together, you need to really protect them and not take for granted.

  • @dalemagee8848

    Pea stone is a nightmare to walk/work on. It's like walking on marbles. Crushed stone is best for work areas and areas of traffic, because it locks together. You might have to put pavers down in order to walk, and to put your benches down on.

    If you have problems with weeds you can use product base on vinegar (totally biological as intended in EU), those are non toxic, non selective, acids that burns by contact all kind of weeds... make your research, make your decisions. I've appreciated using them (whit dogs and kids - not on them by the way 😊)
