Once I saw on Ebay "Hornby 00 class Bogie black steam locomotive engine tender" and then some other words about steam locos I can't remember. On sale for £15 and it was a 6 wheel bogie by the looks of it
It is funny to read the listings from sellers who have no idea what their selling but think it is valuable. In my experience train shows are the best as the sellers are reasonable and normally willing to negotiate. I got a good price on even new stuff that way.

Awesome Buy!!!! I have a bought from a Chicago land area modeltrain shop second hand early CN wide cab locomotive made by AHM back in 2015 custom kit bashed and painted along with a CN caboose custom painted. Both were customized by my dad's one friend before I was born. I showed my dad's friend and told him I bought it from a model train shop and he was surprized that it lasted a long time spite front walkway is sagging from when the orginal cab and nose was cut off and replaced with a Athearn F-45 cab. The snowplow was hitting switch points and frogs due to the sag. It's prob the glue had gotten old. =^.^=

One thing I had happen was a seller wasselling a mallett or a challenger for like $120 about turned out was a scam. Multiple sales came through luckily then a buyer emailed me asking if I bought and received. Only thing I've gotten is parts or couplers passenger cars in 2009 anything ive had for locks is from sets excpt 3 steamers 1 Chattanooga choo choo set was Facebook find , 1 from train show , and one my mom got in a box of Tyco random track but couple trains and cars . the cars went missing but I restored that locomotive by patience however it was worth time i put into it. I gotta make a video of it running all painted. Etc. I got discouraged ever since that Niagara and scammer bit.

Ebay is frustrating. $5 locomotive looks like a deal, then almost 20 to ship. HLf of the time the shipping cost on the package is a fraction of what they charge... its a way to sink in additional profit.

I've tried this before on etsy, and I recommend not to do it because I have gotten scammed. Instead of buying a locomotive or rolling stock from etsy, you should go to your local hobby shop that has model trains, and buy it from them.

I know I had my luck by slim chance on facebpok marketplace buying that 1975 chattanooga set For $20 and having 1 issue with a freight car and fact it was dirty and has some track and original transformer whistle bridge set i made out ok . yeah i know its harf to believe i got it for $20 trust me when it looked like crap and guy didnt know it worked it was by chance i took a gamble. 4:23 That's a Märklin TM800, made between 1953 and 1958, in very poor condition (paintwork is badly worn, couplers damaged, pickup shoe missing, rods bent, visible gears look worn, no idea of the state of the electrics inside...) - not being a particularly rare model, it's basically scrap. An intact model with an original box in good condition (the box also, that is) would be collectible (average price 290 €).
The vintage train car with the double floors and windows is a model of a train car used in the 1800s for railroad workers. Cars like that would have had tight bunk bed quarters and been prone to things like lice and ticks. It is a good model for an older railroad layout or a layout based on a museum.

The whole problem with our Train hobby is that too many people think Oh grandpa's old trains, let's sell them for $300 on ebay because they are trains. Most people don't realize that Tyco, Lifelike, Bachmann and the other Toy Grade trains aren't worth much and none of them are "Rare", as the market was saturated with them. There are a few Tyco and Lifelikes that are rare Campbell's soup and Good & Plenty comes to mind and those can fetch a decent dollar but the rest are nothing special. We need to take back our Hobby from the scalpers and nitwits and stop paying ridiculous prices for this stuff I think. I'd love a Hiawatha and Olympian Milwaukee road set but I refuse to pay $400-800 as that's just stupid, one day I'll just repaint old cars in that scheme just to have it lol.
The old Aurora DDT switchers, the ones made in Mexico at least, don't run on standard 12VDC power. Those were sold under their Aurora Railmasters sets, which is basically "N scale for kids". These sets came with a plastic layout molded with hills and painted. Rails were just metal strips set in the base. It was controlled by a slot car trigger style controller that plugged into the layout. I believe the Railmaster locos were 3VDC. Even by small switcher standards of the 1970s, they were awful quality. As for the layout itself, I personally find them to be so campy looking that they are actually fun. I did replace the cheap flat strip metal rails with actual N scale code 80 track.
I found maybe 3 boxcars on Etsy for around 8 US dollars each, with free shipping and got excellent results but I have seen some really crazy high prices on standard ordinary run of the mill items . As with many sites I find something decent priced but when you look at shipping that's what kills the deal for me . Overall tho , I'm cool with Etsy and will sure to find some deals out there
I gotta admit, the oak display case is really nicelooking. I would buy that for my trains if I didnt have them in my IKEA Detolf glass cabinet. maybe I'll get one case just incase for the future
I highly recommend using a company that does reshipping. You can consolidate packages and the prices I find to be reasonable. Just gotta be willing to wait twice as long. But hey when it can be 40+ an item to ship it makes it worth it. Reship.com is a good one

The at an sf loco was a Rivarossi and is not a split chassis. It runs quite well.

I think TYCO Mantua made them for a while. They aren't the best runners but you can find them cheap and they are super easy to work on.

thats cool, athearn GP40-2 modeled with a Canadian Details West cab....I modeled alot of those in the 1990s and early 2000s for a guy.

That Marklin engine looks to be a hamo dc version marklin used to make three rail ac and two rail dc locomotives and had several different brands
