      Thanks, I'm trying to use lots of different leaf colours, different techniques and different material. But there will be a lot that are water gilded or oil gilded, but I hope they are all different enough.
      Are you going to have a go at one? 😁

    This is such a great series, Ruth! I don't know how I missed it! Clearly, as a gilder, I need a tree like this for my place. Maybe it will be less enticing to my cat? I love the idea of making friends and family ornaments as well

      It was a lot of work but I really enjoyed being creative and gilding something different. You have just reminded me I need to come up with this years Christmas tree gift idea and not leave it till November as normal 😁

    Hi ruth, did you add anything to the water in the glass before you brushed it on the wooden borble?

    • @RuthTappinGilder
      @RuthTappinGilder  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's gilding water, the recipe is in the description of the water gilding for beginners video.

    Question: Is there any way to do water gilding using transfer leaf? At least, on a flat surface?

    • @RuthTappinGilder
      @RuthTappinGilder  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No sorry. The water pulls the loose leaf off your gilding tip. With tranfer it would wet the paper so the leaf would stick to that too

    I have loved these videos. Thank you. Quick question: can one only burnish gold leaf over a red clay bole? I see you use the gold bole here too. I am a little confused by that. Does the red bole give a better burnish result than the gold?

    • @RuthTappinGilder
      @RuthTappinGilder  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks glad ypu enjoyed the videos. The only bole that's not great for burnishing is yellow bole. It's the amount of layers rather than the colour. The colours are different for different countries

      @johannaspinks ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RuthTappinGilder thanks so much. So three of four layers of red clay bole should give one a good burnish result with the gold leaf over it?

    • @RuthTappinGilder
      @RuthTappinGilder  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johannaspinks I do 6 layers of bole. As long as they are well polished you should get a good burnish.
