I definitely think this is gammoths best shot at returning since her introduction. Her huge size has always been the problem, but based on the windward plains, maps in this game will be huge and have a decent variety of topography, so as long as there is a cold area with a decent amount of open space, it’s perfect. that is a huge if, but if so, She could finally have enough room. I’d also love to see her with added in game ecology. Like it would be really cool to see her hanging out and interacting with a herd of popo. Gammoth may not have had the most popular fight but I love how unique she is from other monsters. I really wish there were more monsters with the body types of real herbivores, since irl herbivores can be really aggressive and dangerous if they are threatened
She'd be great for Wilds If I remember correctly Gammoths are known for protecting herds of Popos This would be the best way to implement her, basically the consequences to attacking Popo
Lad, um... Glavenus was in Iceborne, mizutsune was in Rise, and astalos was in Sunbreak. Gammoth is the only one of the fated 4 that wasn't in the 5th generation. In fact, gammoth and lagiacrus are the only flagships in the entire series that weren't in at least 1 5th generation release including base games and expansions. Gammoth was not the only monster they thought of putting in World that just didn't fit on the maps. Early concept art for the elders recess included akantor so it stands to reason that, if he showed up, ukanlos could have been added in iceborne. I would love to see her again in Wilds. With the maps being twice the size of World that seams likely. I would imagine her size would not pose a problem if we have 2, 3, or 4 massive zones in the ice map like the 2 we see in the windward plains. I loved what they did with acidic glavenus, violet mizu not so much but mizu still has an empty subspeceis slot so it would be nice to see all the fated 4 get subspecies. Maybe gammoth's subspecies could also be a bit smaller. I would also love it if we got another monster using her skeleton, that is smaller and could appear in more areas. In truth, before we ever knew anything about Iceborne, I had theorized that we would get a moose monster. Where I was wrong though was, I expected a fanged beast that is in the gammoth shaped but smaller. Instead they subverted expectations and made him a brute wyvern wit ha commercially long tail that he doesn't sue for much. Elderfrost is a deviant. It has some unique moves, pretty sure normal gammoth doesn't have the kind of ukanlos attack of a charge that launches ice chunks on each side as she goes.
Yes yes yes yes!!! (But only if theres snow area in wilds) With how massive the maps are in wilds we maybe could see a full pack of gammoths with a elderfrost as matriarch, because they have packs with smaller and baby gammoths with also popos or other herbivore monsters, seeing one of this groups being together in the middle of the most cold area of the map could be awesome Even documentary level of experience
The only game to not come with an ice region is World because they wanted to show off new and exciting “alien” locales that weren’t ever done before. Wilds is all about open space and not having a massive tundra to run around in and explore, especially with how fun and pretty the Hoarfrost Reach is, would be a missed opportunity. Easy weather event too, big blizzard snowstorm
Gammoth is my number one most wanted returning monster. The open expanses, small monster herding AI, terrain manipulation, really cool fur physics, the stage is set for Gammoth to come back and I miss her so much. I hear a lot of people say she can’t come back because her fight was boring or easy, but I think that’s just an invitation to bring her back and make her better than ever!
I honestly believe Gammoth is definitely gonna be in Wilds. In lore Gammoth hide their young in herds of Popo because newborn Gammoths look similar. And now Wilds has huge herds of small monsters on the map, so it’s the perfect setting to show off Gammoth’s ecology by having her guard Popo herds.
Gammoths only needs two things: 1. A fight update to make a challenging 2. A large map We've got the map size and she has been missing since mhgu. She has to return, especaillly after the other fated four made it back
Gammoth really should come back! It's the only one of the fated four still stuck in Generations since Astalos was brought back in Sunbreak. The armor looks great despite the weapons having minus affinity. And the fight was even fun too.
Honestly I'm curious on your take for Rare species and variants Like how would they work. Could it be a timed event or maybe is the weather conditions are just right
Easiest yes ever. It would be such a missed opportunity for her to not be able to interact with the terrain, her doing her charge move to uplift trees like banbaro would be awesome. Also I think the reason why Elderfrost Gammoth's back turns silver is because they're old, like Silverback Gorillas. It's just a sign of maturity.
In the real world Elephants and Mammoths are animals that shape their ecosystems. So, if Gammoth does come back I want to see it shaping the environment like Rey Dau does. Like having it cause avalanches or floods by breaking dams or even acting like a snow plow and opening soil in a cold region so plants can grow and create a period of abundance or something.
I feel Gammoth is a great Vibe monster to see around, and for that reason I hooe it returns... but I don't think it is possible to really make it a fun a fight Make her too sloww and she becomes exploitable and cheesable, but if you make her too agressive she is so huge the hitboxes of her moves would turn overwhelming
yeah designing the fight itself is the hard part if you ask me. But maybe her difficulty challenge will come in when there is an avalanche or blizzard going on and you could barely see her and that would be the hard part of fighting her. She's massive, big, extremely slow, but you can't really see her attacks that well due to weather?
Elderfrost Gammoth picked up the tempo a lot and gave her new mechanics base Gammoth didn’t to force you to engage head on rather than camping out her hind legs. If they give an updated Gammoth an updated moveset and the ability to warp the terrain like Doshaguma or Rey Dau can but on a larger scale, her fight could actually be super fun and unique
With the map having twice the size of world map for just a single area, akantor ukanlos and gammoth is now possible to come back since thats the only thing holding capcom back to bringing them in the new world
3:25 I might be wrong but Kecha Wacha is pretty Elephant like right? I wouldn't that hes an Anteater because just putting a Picture of one next to Kecha shows that they don't look alike. I just thought it was weird you didn't mention my favourite Monke Boi. 😅
I would say he’s a bit more like a Tapir since his nose isn’t really prehensile and meant for grabbing, but I’m pretty sure there’s concept art of him having a super long trunk
Has capcom said anything about the apex monsters not all being new like Rey Dau is? If the apex are all brand new then monsters like gammoth could be used as challengers for the apex to turf with. Then capcom could do things like spawning a bunch of challenger monsters in the region after you kill the apex since they all wanna become the next apex. I'm not too sure about the whole system but hunting monsters is supposed to affect the locale right
They have not stated anything about the regions’ apexes being new monsters however assuming they cover the base five elements (six if you count raw) we already saw the switch axe in the weapon overviews do ice damage and we can assume that weird purple scorpion crab insect bird, whatever it may be monster isn’t an apex of a region but a mid to early game threat. If we do get an ice apex it’s likely it’ll be Gammoth as she’s the only ice monster big enough to fill that roll for wilds. Barioth is a contender but he’s much smaller and his fifth Gen appearances made him more wall based, jumping off of stuff, whereas Gammoth would work in an open field much better. That is unless Capcom drops either 2 brand new ice monsters or no ice apex at all
To be honest, I am not 100% sure if the apex predators are all new for each of the locales. Normally, rathalos would always be the apex of a forest locale. And diablos was the desert apex. I don't believe that is the case anymore, at least for diablos. But there was no official confirmation besides Rey Dau being a new apex.
@@itsturniptime3699 you're forgetting about ukanlos. Ukanlos can be classified as an apex with how it uses the snow area as his weapon, but putting ukanlos in the game means they also have to put akantor somehow. And that's fine for me. Those two also need to come back now
We can do something like ukanlos being the apex of the snow area and once you defeat it, gammoth will barge in trying to take that role Basically, Capcom should add monsters that can challenge apex predators in different areas. In this case, ukanlos as the apex predator and gammoth as the challenger. That will surely pose a good amount of threat
I definitely want her to return, from what we have seen of Wilds as long as there is a snow map it'll definitely be big enough for her. She is one of the few mega-herbivore monsters we have, and given that the biggest and toughest animals on land in the world today are herbivores we should definitely have more. As such bruisers as hippos, rhinos and bison can show an animal doesn't need to be a predator to be formidable opponent. Also the shortage of mega-herbivores does make the ecology of monster hunter feel a little lacking sometimes, the world can't live off of small herbivores like Aptonoth alone.
Aside from gammoth, the other three from the fated four should return. And give them a battle royale turf war. I wanna see who will win in a turf war between glavenus, astalos, and mizutsune.
