Heavy Bowgun required a mod for shielding. You could equip more than one shield mod on an HBG to mimic the effects of the ironwall (guard) decoration. It would auto guard attacks in front you as long as you were not in the middle of an attack or reload animation. It’s not new, but the change to incorporate it into the weapon right away may suggest that hunters no longer need to add shield mods for the basic guard skill or they straight up removed the shield mod in Wilds. If this is true it will allow for more flexibility in customizing your HBG for hunters who like using close range ammo like spread or hunters who cannot be bothered to deal with HBG’s rolling animation
good to know, thanks for educating me. Sorry if I wasn't able to give the best insight on the heavy bowgun. I am a Greatsword, Hammer and Long Sword user lol.
I personally hope they keep it as an attachment mod, but from the HBG reveal they have show that it still has the auto guard but also we can now manually guard as well. still haven't seen any wyvernsnipe for it yet which was my favorite ability for the weapon, and I'm hoping is still in the game.
@@joedoe7041 I never tried an HBG might do it in Wilds. All the weapons look really good. What advice would you give for a HBG first timer and is a hard weapon to get masterful at ?
@@RathalosWatch I've only played MHW/IB so I don't know how the weapon was in Rise. also what changes they are making for the HBG in Wilds except what they have shown. so fair warning first off the HBG is a heavy resource required weapon. with the exception of lv 1 normal rounds, all others will take resources or money to make or buy. and you will burn though it all quickly as well, especially if your a solo player. in saying that, there are 4 build groups for the HBG - mid range / long range / crits / heavy arty. Mid Range builds are ether up close(shotgun) or at a close stand off(LBG range) range for the weapon optimal damage output. but it will require you to get use to dodging or blocking attacks, as your in the monsters attack range as well. Long Range - builds are basically a sniper build, where's your normally going to be out of the monsters effective attack range. but will be limited in the type of ammo you can use, in MHW this build required you to use normal lv3 rounds only along with wyvernsnipe. because of how to ammo was set up for the weapontree was though out poorly for wyvensnipe in regards to this build(my opinion only). Crits - builds are basically similar to mid range builds but focus on dealing critical damages, so lots of Affinity, Crit Boosts and weakness exploit. Heavy Arty - builds are ones that focus on Sticky, Cluster Bombs and Wyvern Fire(basically your a walking artillery cannon). this build is one I use when playing with friends as their melee support allows me free reign to go ham on a monster. but regardless on which build suits your style of play there are universal points to consider or atleast points I've learnt to go by 1/ The ammo sheet tells the story of what a gun is good at and how you should build it, people are going recommend this weapon for spread and that weapon for Pierce because those guns have level 3 ammo types. but you also have to think about a manageable recoil, reload speed, and magazine capacity. Your gun mods need to bring these ammo types into an acceptable comfort range, the less mods you need to do this the more room you have for more impactful damage mods, barrels, shields and that sort of thing. 2/ The finesse of the weapon is all in the prep. Choosing the right gun and the right mods for what you want to do is a start. Then you need to gear for it, then you can set up your inventory and radial so you can craft ammo without going back to base. which people and meta sites will help cover when your starting out. 3/ farming is important so that you're crafting anything you need for ammo. Set up a good stockpile. You can buy a lot of it from the provisions vendor, but not all of it. Just another step of weapon prep. 4/ Contrary to the stereotype that ranged weapons are glass cannons, you can actually build to be very tanky if you lean into block skills. Three shield mods is as good as a lancer shield, guard and guard up apply equally to this weapon. More than any other weapon, you really get to decide how good your block is. You can also be surprisingly mobile with evasion extender, since your dodge is such a long scoot. 4/ make use of trap, bombs and the environment to keep yourself safe. edit - fixed some mistakes and added point 4
It seems like shiny drops are now just for slinger ammo dropped by monsters at specific health thresholds (green), or account items for research points (yellow) Also it's really interesting that Balahara can be flashed
Do we know if this game takes place in the New World or Old World? Also I do hope the environments aren't too helpful, we are in the Forbidden Lands, I expect the environments and it's creatures to be hostile
that's a good question. However, as far as the official marketing goes it is called Forbidden Lands as you said. Whether the Forbidden Lands take place in New World or Old World I have no clue. However, if I am being quite frank this feels like its the Old World which is what I honestly prefer. I really disliked the New World in Monster Hunter World, I was not a huge fan, the locales weren't as interesting as the original ones if you ask me.
heavy bowgun can auto-block for many years now, i think even before MH world. but earlier you could customize your bowgun - better barell for DMG or shield for auto-block
@@Yano83 thanks for letting me know. As someone who never used a single range weapon in any of the MH games this is good to know. I started in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite lol
@nekuroishigami4037 my.favorote version of the farm fields was in MHFU. It just worked well, was easy to understand, and fun to do and progress through/upgrade.
number 4: I was watching the stream. first the cat put the trap, then he used slinger. it is a coincidence and actually a waste of topple/opening. number 6: it is also not a new feature, you could give shieldspire to your palico in mhw, palico would taunt the monster with it. number 30: it is standard heavy bowgun feature, when you are not shooting it guards automatically, if you have a shield equipped. Number 31 is the new manual guard feature. never existed before number 33: was mentioned by someone else, giant vigorwasps were in mhw as well number 36: you were not able to play with palico in the camp but you can play with it in both mhw and mhr. mhw: you enter the footbath in the hub mhr: tell your palico or palamute to stay, then you can play with it anytime
@zolozoro58 I don't remember palicos placing traps in World? The different with shieldsprie is now that you don't need to give him anything. Palico taunts dynamically in Wilds. That is a difference
@@RathalosWatch you can equip flashfly cage in the mhw, if you level up it will drop shock traps as well. it has the exact same animation. I recommend getting more friendly with grimalkyne tribes as it will unlock new gadgets. in world you get: vigorwasp spray: healing. has 3 levels, 1. palico will bring a vigorwasp to you 2. palico will place a vigorwasp 3. Palico will actually revive you once flash fly cage, again 3 levels. 1. palico will drop a trap that acts like flashbug 2. palico will place the shock trap (same animation as here) called thunderbug cage 3. boombug cage, it will place a trap that explodes when large monsters step on it shieldspire: 3 levels 1. palico will taunt monster 2. palico will taunt and when the monster comes close it will hit the mobster's head with the shield, dealing stun damage 3. it will drop a scarecrow like thing, which will draw monsters attention plunderblade: 3 tiers 1. palico will jump on monster and get materials 2. palico will throw palarang at monster, it will drop a shiny 3. palico will mount the monster and it will drop rare trade-in items coral orchestra: 3 tiers 1. cheerhorn: it gives some buffs 2. cheer bongo: it will give you some resistances 3. sonic gong: will make the monster flinch meowlotov cocktail: 3 tiers 1. palico throws bombs 2. palico uses some shielded slinger to attack 3. meowcano: it will put a nuke on the ground. to level up gadgets you need to equip them and bring palico to hunts with you. in world you can only bring 1 gadget, however in rise palicos can do multiple things, such as healing, trapping, buffing, and placing wirebugs at the same time. check out palico skills. you can also teach it new skills as well, it is actually almost the same with generations ultimate. so this time it is closer to rise palico system.
@@RathalosWatch I would say you are missing a lot. I am playing mhgu right now and I always bring 2 palicos with me. they heal me and play the sonic horn which makes annoying small monsters flee the area. in rise I always bring palico since it drops wirebugs and actually can use a gadget called kittenator, it will topple even the elder dragons. if you are hunting with followers (highly recommend) or solo, you can bring 2 companions. dogs for mobility and damage, cats for support. you can bring 1 dog and 1 cat. they are great supporters, and it feels like I am hunting with my team. in world I also bring palico, the plunder blade is very handy when you are fighting annoying monsters. it can even grab mantles, so you can go to a hunt, command plunderblade, then return from quest. if you are lucky you get your mantle. I have 1900 hours in mhw and 900 in MH rise, and I am at 90h at MHGU, still playing.palicos are a core part of monster hunter since forever. I love my cats.
@@zolozoro58 I like palicos as a character and enjoy interacting with them in the village. But I don't like taking them on missions because it makes the hunt easier. I like a challenge.
One thing im gonna miss is the fanfare at the end of each quest. I mean i know that they were eventually going to go in this direction with the guiding lands in world, but i dunno...i feel like something is missing now lol I get that flowing in and out of hunts is more seamless/frictionless, but there was always something grounded about heading home after a "cannonically" long hunt for the hunter
@navi8801 not gonna miss that at all. Waste of time and energy going in and out of menu and load screens and i say this as a old school MH player. Thank God it's gone.
@@RathalosWatchI personally think I'm gonna miss it. I put near or over a thousand hours in all the games and over time I've grown really attached to the loading screens. It adds a sense of comfort, like a cozy game. Some of my most memorable moments were at like 2 in the morning in a voice call with friends doing a whole lot of nothing while the game loads. I know that it's probably best for the wider audience, but for me it feels like a downgrade
@@RathalosWatch oh I totally understand your viewpoint! Especially so if you want to hunt multiple of the same monster, my brother was bad about always switching weapon/armor/decos in town and I had to wait a good while for him to accept the quest at the board back in the psp/3ds era, Now he can catch up whenever he is ready lmao!
@@RathalosWatch Ah alright, then it was likely a comment stating they thought it would be then. I do hope it'll be around the same peiod world released. but I also hope they won't reveal much more. what bugged me about world was that they basically revealed almost all monsters before release. they need to just reveal what we got and maybe some returning monsters and leave the rest as suprise.
@@RathalosWatch not every monster, but they generally do reveal majority nowadays. but that takes away from the feeling of coming across it the first time. when you first play it. its not just them doing it. most companies do it these days. by example dying light 2 showed a demo before release which ended up being basically one of the final missions. companies need to stop that only reveal the first hour or so and keep the rest a secret.
with the underwater exploration showcased and the deconfermation of underwater combat i don't want lagiacrus in wilds, it would probably be a waste potential instead we can have agnaktor with balahara's serpentine body. If they will add the underwather combat in the dlc lagiacrus will be an absolute unit and we can have also other underwater returning monster we can't have in other games like gobul, ceadeus, abissal lagi, dire miralis... or an underwather fight for monster we fight on the ground like somnacant, zamtrios, mizutsune, namielle. For capcom this is a unique chance to let underwather combat return in mh. and considerating the reaction of the community to the showcase it will be a great addition to mh, maybe not in wilds but in the dlc or in a future game. But one thing is sure, hunters, we are going back to dominate the waters once again... one day

Well, the shock trap interrupting the down from it falling off the pillar is a bit of a waste so I'd say it was bad luck, still funny though. I was a solo hunter for a long time but now that I got a friend into the series with Rise, I look forward to my hunts with him and seeing his reactions to new monsters that either he hasn't fought yet or ones neither of us have fought. The highlights is probably the least noteworthy thing. Still, it's nice that what each title comes form is listed now. Instead of just a name and the number you got, without telling you how you got it. That's just the shield mod from 5th gen, it blocks so long as you are facing the attack and not in a firing or reload animation. I always liked that feature of HBG. Nope, giang vigorwasps were in World, there was one in the ancient forest. Normal vigorwasps only heal for a short time in an AEO but the giant once have a larger persisting AEO for a few seconds. "Closer to his return", no, he'll be back in this game or the expansion. Unlike almodron and mizutsune, balahara is exactly the same skeleton as lagiacrus and agnaktor. The othere 2 in Rise had slightly longer legs so the body wouldn't drag but balahara doesn't have this. This means the issues from before are no longer a factor.
@@RathalosWatch It's very likely. If not in the base game, it will be in the expansion. Portable 6th at the latest because the skeleton issues look to be just fixed now. I'd be shocked if we didn't see either agnaktor or lagi this generation.

@@titofox666 it is and isn't. I feel like it took away the challenge from the game a bit. Previously you had to be smart when to heal. Now, not so much.
@@RathalosWatch I mean... the game is not easy at all XD there are easier monsters, but there are really hard ones. Also the monsters are now way more faster and aggresive so the mechanic balances itself
@titofox666 I'd say older games are harder, but mostly due to lack of quality of life changes. I recently replayed monster hunter freedom Unite, the hit boxes in that game are something else
@@RathalosWatch yeah, I really apreciate the more accurate hitboxes. Another key factor for difficulty is our experience with the series, I started with Tri and it's day and night now XD
@SugeryGold yes, they confirmed no water combat. They also said they were very surprised at the demand for water combat as well. I think Gen 6 will be known for immersion and gen 7 will push for the water systems full on.

I am a little confused about how the female to male armor thing is gonna work. Like, what happens if I have a male character and I equip a female chest peace? Does my guy get boobs now? I know it's a weird question, but I'm still interested in how it will work. Because a lot of female armors do cool but they also have a body type. I definitely like the idea for more fashion, but I am confused.
@RathalosWatch I know it's a little silly but still interesting. I like some of the female helmets because they tend to show your characters face more. I also have some friends who play female characters who like the look of some of the male armors. Man I can't wait for this game.
@nidhoggr8193 I like that one helmet for the female more than the male one. It was in the Bow weapon showcase. The male musketeer helmet looks so derpy.

Like a health bar? Why would you want that? They already gave damage numbers for damage done by the player. We have enough indicators when a monster is close to death like drooling, limping and sleeping.
yeah cause that would not be monster hunter. I don't want too see their health bars at all and never. It would ruin the whole immersion and honestly the entire game.

Heavy Arty - builds are ones that focus on Sticky, Cluster Bombs and Wyvern Fire(basically your a walking artillery cannon). this build is one I use when playing with friends as their melee support allows me free reign to go ham on a monster.
but regardless on which build suits your style of play there are universal points to consider or atleast points I've learnt to go by
1/ The ammo sheet tells the story of what a gun is good at and how you should build it, people are going recommend this weapon for spread and that weapon for Pierce because those guns have level 3 ammo types. but you also have to think about a manageable recoil, reload speed, and magazine capacity.
I reckon underwater combat comes back in the expansion
@@darktempest53 maybe, but I'd put my bets on 7th gen for underwater combat.
It seems like shiny drops are now just for slinger ammo dropped by monsters at specific health thresholds (green), or account items for research points (yellow)
Also it's really interesting that Balahara can be flashed
you can also use a Sonic Bomb too to get him out of the sand. My dumbass forgot to mention that
-_-
I really want the monster armor and weapon from the swaxe trailer to be a purple ice mantis it would instantly go in my top 5
yeah I am hoping it is some sort of a mantis thing. 100% though it is an insect based of the visual design.
Idk if this is a un/popular opinion, but i hope they bring back the farm fields, i miss it so much and i want to see it in the modern MH graphics
Number 31 is the new manual guard feature. never existed before
number 33: was mentioned by someone else, giant vigorwasps were in mhw as well
number 36: you were not able to play with palico in the camp but you can play with it in both mhw and mhr. mhw: you enter the footbath in the hub
mhr: tell your palico or palamute to stay, then you can play with it anytime
@zolozoro58 I don't remember palicos placing traps in World? The different with shieldsprie is now that you don't need to give him anything. Palico taunts dynamically in Wilds. That is a difference
@@RathalosWatch you can equip flashfly cage in the mhw, if you level up it will drop shock traps as well. it has the exact same animation. I recommend getting more friendly with grimalkyne tribes as it will unlock new gadgets.
in world you get:
vigorwasp spray: healing. has 3 levels,
1. palico will bring a vigorwasp to you
2. palico will place a vigorwasp
3. Palico will actually revive you once
flash fly cage, again 3 levels.
1. palico will drop a trap that acts like flashbug
2. palico will place the shock trap (same animation as here) called thunderbug cage
3. boombug cage, it will place a trap that explodes when large monsters step on it
shieldspire: 3 levels
1. palico will taunt monster
2. palico will taunt and when the monster comes close it will hit the mobster's head with the shield, dealing stun damage
3. it will drop a scarecrow like thing, which will draw monsters attention
plunderblade: 3 tiers
1. palico will jump on monster and get materials
2. palico will throw palarang at monster, it will drop a shiny
3. palico will mount the monster and it will drop rare trade-in items
coral orchestra: 3 tiers
1. cheerhorn: it gives some buffs
2. cheer bongo: it will give you some resistances
3. sonic gong: will make the monster flinch
meowlotov cocktail: 3 tiers
1. palico throws bombs
2. palico uses some shielded slinger to attack
3. meowcano: it will put a nuke on the ground.
to level up gadgets you need to equip them and bring palico to hunts with you.
in world you can only bring 1 gadget, however in rise palicos can do multiple things, such as healing, trapping, buffing, and placing wirebugs at the same time. check out palico skills. you can also teach it new skills as well, it is actually almost the same with generations ultimate. so this time it is closer to rise palico system.
@zolozoro58 see I don't play with npcs or palicos I am always solo so i never get to see this stuff lol
I mean i know that they were eventually going to go in this direction with the guiding lands in world, but i dunno...i feel like something is missing now lol
I get that flowing in and out of hunts is more seamless/frictionless, but there was always something grounded about heading home after a "cannonically" long hunt for the hunter
11:32 I can tell you I already need to get real life snacks when playing Monster Hunter World, so....
haha you are god damn right about that lol
not 100% certain, but I believe the first trailer stated the game will be released summer 2025
none of the trailers ever showed a season or a quarter of when the game releasing. You are misremembering. Every trailer has just simply said 2025.
@@NefosteuxAlucard don't they usually reveal every Monster usually for every MH game before release ?

But one thing is sure, hunters, we are going back to dominate the waters once again... one day
i hear ya, i can see Lagiacrus 100% returning full beast mode in Gen 7 with proper underwater systems.
You could pet your palicos and palimutes in Rise.
wasn't aware, guess it continue onto Wilds then!

This means the issues from before are no longer a factor.
do you think Lagiacrus is coming back?
@@RathalosWatch It's very likely. If not in the base game, it will be in the expansion. Portable 6th at the latest because the skeleton issues look to be just fixed now. I'd be shocked if we didn't see either agnaktor or lagi this generation.
@jockpackage1770 Yeah, we gonna have to wait and see. If he returns his probably going to be in the scarlet forest.
Why do they make the food look so good...
To make you go spend more money in real life and get you fat so you will sit more and play the game instead of actually doing something productive in your life 😃
I love the food one
same !
6:55 you say this as if being able to move and drink a potion is not a tremendously good QOL change
@titofox666 monster hunter freedom united was my 1st game and that is sun and moon difference lol
Did they confirm no water combat? I only heard that they said that these water areas don’t confirm water combat
@SugeryGold yes, they confirmed no water combat. They also said they were very surprised at the demand for water combat as well. I think Gen 6 will be known for immersion and gen 7 will push for the water systems full on.
It is insane to think that they've been working on Monster Hunter Wilds' DLC (or Master Rank Expansion) for like 2 years already, before the base game has came out.
I wonder what game they began to work on after Monster Hunter Rise? Looking forward to whatever it is in 2027.
@SuaatanaTube meh, probably some other babysitter mode Switch 2 exclusive similar to Rise lol
@@RathalosWatch Rise was amazing
I am a little confused about how the female to male armor thing is gonna work. Like, what happens if I have a male character and I equip a female chest peace? Does my guy get boobs now? I know it's a weird question, but I'm still interested in how it will work. Because a lot of female armors do cool but they also have a body type. I definitely like the idea for more fashion, but I am confused.
I have no clue either and find it kind of silly but whatever.
@@nidhoggr8193 in MH most armour be like

I BET U THEY DIDNT ADD DAMAGE DONE TO THE CREATURE YET THO. THEY NEVER FUCKING WILL
Like a health bar? Why would you want that? They already gave damage numbers for damage done by the player. We have enough indicators when a monster is close to death like drooling, limping and sleeping.
yeah cause that would not be monster hunter. I don't want too see their health bars at all and never. It would ruin the whole immersion and honestly the entire game.
