I made an editing mistake at 1:18 that may confuse people. Sephiroth dodging Cloud's sword swing was meant to be the 12th attempted slash, not the clash. The clash was Sephiroth attacking Cloud which is why Cloud got launched backwards. Sorry for the mistake.
One interesting tidbit is their iconic duel hypercut flash slides to whoever wins the fight; in this instance, the camera slides behind Sephiroth instead of Cloud at 0:54
@@squall846 Hmm that's interesting, thanks for the translation! I wonder why the localization went for something wildly different here. "Not yet" is not even close to being akin to a quote like "easy".
Very interesting. That doesn't seem to be a coincidence, seeing how Remake is deeply related to AC [Final whisper boss is Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo + AC theme plays in ch2]. + Also could be a KH reference lol. You know Nomura.
@@squall846 yep and the end of Rebirth also plays AC music as well. They are definitely taking AC into account heavily. And yes it could be a KH reference haha
Thanks a lot Legend. I had a discussion of if he was really attempting to do Omnislash at the end of Remake and I just had a weird idea to count the slashes and they really did match up haha.
I LOVED that fight scene between UNKNOWN Sephiroth and Cloud in Remake. I've seen it more than a thousand times. I actually did think Cloud managed to perform Omnislash and tried to KILL Unknown Sephiroth with the move, but since we're dealing with Unknown Sephiroth, he KNEW exactly what Cloud was up to and BLOCKED THE SWORD at the last minute, with 'Not yet'... meaning that this Sephiroth PREDICTED that attack and was able to block it. I actually believe that this 'Unknown Sephiroth' is the one from Advent Children Complete that we're dealing with, trapped in the Edge of Creation, who has KNOWLEDGE OF THE FUTURE AND KNOWS WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. I mean the Rebirth version of Sephiroth wouldn't know about Omnislash in Part 3 if Cloud used it on him for real and caught him by surprise. That 'Rebirth' version of Sephiroth is more concerned about merging the worlds together/tracking down and killing Aeriths across multiple worlds/timelines like a Terminator than his death unlike Unknown Sephiroth, so if Cloud manages to kill him for real without him knowing about the full strength of Omnislash in Part 3, that is something I'd like to see happen! PS: I saw Advent Children Complete in theaters on February 23rd, 2024 and I LOVED IT!

Yoo that’s awesome, should’ve allowed us to play Sephy right then and there
Wow that's really cool. That likely means that in Part 3, we'll go behind Cloud instead. That's gonna be amazing. Thanks for the cool detail Legend!
@@Azumgi9 for real haha. That would've been awesome.
And Sephy saying “Not yet” just makes this even more possible
In Japanese, Sephi says: "軽いな" which translates into: [Easy , Trivial, Light].
It's like he's downplaying Cloud's strength there.

Noticing the number of slashes is beyond me 🤯 nice observation
Thanks a lot Legend. I had a discussion of if he was really attempting to do Omnislash at the end of Remake and I just had a weird idea to count the slashes and they really did match up haha.
Great observation! I believe it!
Glad to hear it Legend!

Clockout blow from Mario & Luigi also does 13 hits... Coincidence?
@@sinteleon nah that was Omnislash. Definitely an FF7 reference.
