At minimum Tifa builds (and Aerith). Also, other than not having access to the Disorder skill that Cloud can get with the Rune Blade (fills ATB when the full skill connects), Tifa might be better to build with this "Lightning God" like build, since Tifa is known for having the best/fastest ATB building in both Remake and Rebirth. All the ATB filling (on either Cloud or Tifa) would mean that you spam out those electric discharges on each ATB filled. But yes, would like to see more special builds like this that make use of the linked materia in ways that people don't normally think of. You can get Enemy Skill and the Plasma Discharge skill for it right away in the Grasslands. You can get an Elemental Materia as soon as you step into Junon's area as well. So other than the HP Absorb, you can do this simple combo really early in the game.
Please test plasma surge with Mug. Mug gives you like 60% atb back if you hit 2 enemies close by you get a full bar. So you can have infinite plasma procs. It works even crazier with haste. It makes a literal unkillable character
Thanks for this, bro. I appreciate the video, but he was talking and clicking his screen so fast, it seemed like he was late for a meeting or something.
Here's another thing about Plasma Discharge, any character can equip Mug (so not just Cloud + Disorder) which refills ATB when it is a successful hit, meaning you could spam Mug to get large amounts of Plasma Discharge procs off at once, truly an insane combination. Plus, you could add HP/MP Absorption + Lightning Materia to heal yourself from it all the while. You could actually have 2 HP Absorb Materia with Mug + Enemy Skill for double healing.
Great video, thank you! Small recommendation for build videos. Putting up a graphic at the end that shows all the materia in the specific slots would make it easier to screen shot when looking to build out on my own character. Thank you again!
Disorder also does a double flip maneuver while aerial that also helps with the ATB charge. Timed combat, dodges, Firebolt Blade, and Disorder while aerial makes Cloud look kinda cool as well.
This build can go on anyone not just Cloud btw. I actually recommend Tifa instead since she is a ridiculous ATB generator to begin with. Plus you can dump ATB on her Chi increases which are very fast executions.
I came into this video thinking "oh here we go again another video on Cloud with enemy skill" but you actually made the best video out of like the 4 I have seen on it.
I was looking at hp absorption and enemy skill literally 30 mins ago but I didn't think it would trigger the hp absorption with it being a multiple skill materia, great video thanks for the tip
this was available in Remake too i remember using HP Absorbtion with an Ice DoT Enemy Skill Materia Ability all the time there to regenerate HP constantly on hard mode and at zero MP cost

This has to be one of the best AAA games I’ve played in years. The game was a work of art and a masterpiece. Such fun combat, amazing characters, story and world building. Definitely the best AAA single player game I’ve played in a very long time. I put in 105 hours so far and plan on doing a new gameplus.
If you're fine with all the forced mini games, extensive linear sections like the first, and dragging out sections that were 5 minute stops or unimportant characters originally. Like in the first, who cared about Jesse's little pizza quest? Just like in this, why do I have to spend over an hour playing stupid games in Costa del Sol before I can even leave the area? The very small group of people I’ve met that didn’t like remake/rebirth are always comparing it to the original. I tried to play the original after remake and I didn’t last 10 minutes. It just felt so dated and bad. I’m sure playing it back then it would’ve felt amazing but today it was awful. I also don’t like turn based games in general. But yeah i absolutely loved remake and rebirth. Especially today when western AAA games are so awful. It felt good seeing some beautiful and well written characters, beautiful worlds, great lore and imagination. Unique gameplay and combat. You don’t get that from Western AAA games anymore. Especially female characters in western AAA games today. They are so unappealing. Stories are so badly written. There is never any sorrow, passion or beauty in them. So when I get these things in a game that comes out of the east, I go out my way to support it. You did not waste your money. You should be happy you are supporting a good studio who doesn’t make bad games like here. I also loved Final Fantasy 16. Do you know what game I felt bad about buying? Spider-Man 2. God that was so sanitized and woke. So I returned it after I finished it and got my money back. I hope in the third installment of Final Fantasy seven, they go easier on the mini games and give us more gameplay and story.
@@The_Primary_Axiom Well, not growing up with the original would definitely make the difference. It's fair to compare it to the original though, if they insist on calling it a "remake", that's why I keep putting it in quotes. Obviously, you can't compare the combat systems because of the limitations back then, but there was a lot more open world exploration, secret stuff you could miss, stuff you could get early, and there was a much wider range of weapons. Some had bonus AP as a built in aspect of them, which was nice. I still replay the original from time to time, and the big story beats still actually get to me, so there have been improvements there. You're right about it not being a waste of money either, because even now, I can see it will hit my dollar per entertainment-hour ratio lol. If I get at least 1 hour of entertainment per dollar spent, it's a decent trade, but I'll probably get to the 50 cent point by the endgame. Not only did I like this build and had some fun with it I learned a few different ways to use materia combos. I made a cloud build that i based on raw damage output high crit damage and ability crit chance. I used the crystal sword with dark side, pime mode's berserk effect and sonic boom for bravery and faith to give cloud a huge boost to damage
This video is amazing, I'm still early in the game but in the demo I played around with Aerith. I had her stood in an arcane ward and had synergy linked with magic and switch back to Tifa and smashed out ATB like its no tomorrow. This meant i had Aerith double casting magic for zero MP and zero ATB If this works along this video 🤯 it's game over

Great. Except your missing Haste which really makes this pop. Honestly this build is better on Red 13 since he gets a party wide haste ability and vengeance makes atb charge almost immediately from such fast attacks
Enemy skill is prob the best materia in the game currently. I put it on cloud first thing since even sonic boom stays relevant the throughout the game thanks to zero mp cost buffs.
Glad to see my strategy in Remake just got better. In that title I used ehemy skill-hp with algid aura and spirit siphon. And also deadly dodge -hp materia. Which actually worked quite well. Add regen and/or barret with Lifesaver and HP just dont go down with decent Def/barrier

So I have elemental and f&I in the weapons slot, elemental, l&w in armour as well so I can absorb those elements and to make swapping more convenient, and enemy skill with HP absorb, but also ATB boost paired with first strike, and Darkside, this build is my fav & it's absolute clutch!
Enemy materia in this game is pretty much the ultimate materia you want equipped on whichever character you're going to be using the most at the moment. So much more useful than part 1, if only because of Sonic Boom and Plasma Discharge. But mind blast is great too.
Late game stuff: craft the accessory that starts the character at max limit level. Equip it to cloud. Equip limit siphon materia to cloud. Cloud, Aerith, anyone else. Heal with aerith when necessary, limit siphon from both other characters and spam limit break by cloud.
In the original ff7 '97 and remake, certain blue materia pairings didn't work. Hopefully, the devs do not patch these incredible combos. The games damage output is extremely ridiculous in terms of low output from team and high output from enemies. Even HP is dangerously low in the mid level 20s.
@@wilkaiba I just hope enemy skill is actually realized properly in the next game. Real tired of it having like 4-8 moves with only two of them actually getting used and I *hated* how they were learned in Rebirth with zero effort on the player's part. In OG FF7 you had to hunt the abilities down, confusing and manipulating random enemies to get the really good stuff. Getting all the enemy skills on as many copies of enemy skill as possible was one of the most fun scavenger hunts in any game.
@@davidjones8043 I guess you're a fan of having everything spelled out for you and everything having the same general method of acquisition. I don't know man, seems kinda boring.
This is sweet! honestly I have been trying to find a good hp absorb build with cloud to replace my old one from remake (deadly dodge + hp absorb - rip) so this looks great! wouldlove to see more builds for other characters too
as you collect folios and unlock weapon levels and more of the orbs in the folio menu your weapons gain more slots and sometimes get linked slots, this effects the early game weapons more so than the late game ones
Is there some update to the sleek saber? because mine doesn't have the linked material (lvl 4 weapon). Should I need to level up more or there's another sleek saber with the linked materia?
@@codybrady6940 Ok maybe its like character level dependant because i'm like at weapon level 4, Cloud level 28 and still not weapon materia link. I'll just be a patient little boi and wait lol. Thanks for the reply.
@NotForAnimals I'm pretty sure it's entirely wpn. level dependent, but the levels for new and linked slots just vary from weapon to weapon. I was thinking of the sleek saber specifically when I said 3ish. But again, I could be wrong 😂 no problem tho!
Mug is a really good skill for dumping atb too, since it gives a pretty big chunk of atb back to cloud. This build works on just about everyone though. I want to see a build on cloudd punishment build.
Would have been nice to note the locations of where n when these materia are available (HP Absorbtion) As it seems only available near endgame of 1st playthrough. Spent ligit a cpl hours scouring the net and in-game trying to do CS to earn it. Great video, maybe add a bit more info for future reference.
I'm guessing the more you use it, the sword itself levels up just like materia. But I could be wrong. I am using this sword and I don't have those extra slots yet because I'm only in like chapter 5.
It just depends on that character's weapon level is. As you earn more SP from quests & other objectives, it'll naturally go up and start adding and linking slots.
I had no idea I could do HP absorption with enemy skill. Never crossed my mind. I thought it could only be linked with Green materia. But I put Enemy Skill with Yuffie in combo with Doppleganger. But never ever thought about HP absorption. I just beat the game last night. I’m not replaying it cuz that last Sephiroth battle was ANNOYING. But yeah this def could have helped
Just curious, in remake it was possible to have HP Absorb + Enemy Skill linked along with Subversion + Warding linked plus the weapon skill reprieve to use self destruct without dying (and gain a full limit bar while doing it), is that still a viable combo in rebirth?
I noticed they also put Crisis Core materia in this game which is pretty cool one of them that I have is called jump it's a lot slower but it's really cool
by immediately hitting square (attack) after hitting circle to dodge, if you keep hitting square and land a bunch of beams on a single target they will stack up and do sort of a shredder combo to the target, also if you are a good distance away from a target and start this green beam move but hold square cloud will flash toward a target and after hitting them launches you into atacking from the air and continuing to atack while in the air will keep you airborne, there are a couple atb moves that can also be done while airborne and some that can only be done while in the air
@@BigAussieCheeses It's a reward from one of Chadley's simulation trials. It's the one that requires you to assess 16 different enemies from the grasslands area.
@@BigAussieCheeses the simulation for discharge has you need to assess enough enemies and face a region's classified intel battle (which requires you do enough of the region's lifesprings to unlock it) but you also need to be dumping AP into the enemy skill materia as the later enemy skill trials need the materia ranked up
Is there a trick to having HP Absorb trigger automatically with ATB gain and Plasma Discharge? I only get health back when I manually use Plasma Discharge
A lot better. I think he just hasn’t gotten to that point yet. He called the Sleek Saber the highest attack sword which is very wrong lol. Igneous Saber is by far the highest, even without attack power boosts.
the game clearly tells you in the materia screen that it only uses the left most set of linked materia so unfortunately you can not get all 4, but you can put the other on your armour on the same character and least get the resitances as well

Late game stuff: craft the accessory that starts the character at max limit level. Equip it to cloud. Equip limit siphon materia to cloud. Cloud, Aerith, anyone else. Heal with aerith when necessary, limit siphon from both other characters and spam limit break by cloud.
Absolutely insane setup! Never thought about using Enemy Skill let alone combining it. 100% more guides 🤘
@@deedoubsnobody wants all that dude. Go play OG 7 then
@@davidjones8043 I guess you're a fan of having everything spelled out for you and everything having the same general method of acquisition. I don't know man, seems kinda boring.
How are u able to get the link material for the sleek saber?
you can must level up your weapon and then it automaticly changes the materia slots
Until it’s leveled high enough use another sword. The elemental damage is way more than you’d get with the extra stats
Nice build and well described. I'll definitely try this out for hard mode, thanks.
Can’t wait to try this , pre ordered the game still waiting for it to arrive just hoping square Enix don’t nerf this in the meantime
This is sweet! honestly I have been trying to find a good hp absorb build with cloud to replace my old one from remake (deadly dodge + hp absorb - rip) so this looks great! wouldlove to see more builds for other characters too
How do you get the material slots on the sleek saber to be linked? Mine aren’t linked
as you collect folios and unlock weapon levels and more of the orbs in the folio menu your weapons gain more slots and sometimes get linked slots, this effects the early game weapons more so than the late game ones
Ok kwel I guess I missed how you get the Plasma Ability?
In the grasslands, it becomes unlockable via Chadley’s combat simulator after doing the 16 assess scans for the area
What is the ability where you cast all these lightnings if your atb bar is full?
Thank u so much for this. Wow the difference it makes.
Nice setup, and it's lightweight enough to incorporate into many other builds out there.
Is there some update to the sleek saber? because mine doesn't have the linked material (lvl 4 weapon). Should I need to level up more or there's another sleek saber with the linked materia?
Yeah mine doesn't either...
How is your sleek sabers materia slots linked?!
Also my question. Mine is not.
So how’s this handle the end game brutal and legendary challenges?
It doesn’t lol
How did your sleek saber come with a pair mine doesn’t wth
Gotta level it up
@@codybrady6940At which level do you get the linked materia ?
@NotForAnimals I can't remember tbh. It's currently level 5 and I've had the linked slots for a while.. Maybe lvl 3 or so?
@@codybrady6940 Ok maybe its like character level dependant because i'm like at weapon level 4, Cloud level 28 and still not weapon materia link. I'll just be a patient little boi and wait lol. Thanks for the reply.
@NotForAnimals I'm pretty sure it's entirely wpn. level dependent, but the levels for new and linked slots just vary from weapon to weapon. I was thinking of the sleek saber specifically when I said 3ish. But again, I could be wrong 😂 no problem tho!
I pretty much did this exact build on my own, but just wanted to see if I missed anything. 😅
Mug is a really good skill for dumping atb too, since it gives a pretty big chunk of atb back to cloud. This build works on just about everyone though. I want to see a build on cloudd punishment build.
Do I have to put them in the same order to get the health back every time
I land a special?
Would have been nice to note the locations of where n when these materia are available (HP Absorbtion) As it seems only available near endgame of 1st playthrough. Spent ligit a cpl hours scouring the net and in-game trying to do CS to earn it.
Great video, maybe add a bit more info for future reference.
dam, thumbs up for the idea of linking hp absorbtion with enemy skills!
why is your sleek saber his linked materia slots? mine has 4 but all separate
Same Here. 4 Slots but not linked in the weapon
Question how come my sword " Sleek saber " the first materia cant fusion them together?
You weapon level ain't high enough
how to level it? you just have to use it right?@@whocaresreallywho2464
@@whocaresreallywho2464
How do you level it??
@@zekrom9586 just play the game, get into fights and it slowly levels up
@@whocaresreallywho2464
Ah, I see. I was trying to figure this out for the longest time and Google doesn’t not help
What about to use shorcuts for common attacks?
Finally got this and it's fun.
Ok question I see the sleek sword doesnt have a link materia slot so how is that possibel
I equip the Aureate Pinion in the Accessory slot, +10 speed, faster ATB charge
I had no idea I could do HP absorption with enemy skill. Never crossed my mind. I thought it could only be linked with Green materia.
But I put Enemy Skill with Yuffie in combo with Doppleganger. But never ever thought about HP absorption. I just beat the game last night. I’m not replaying it cuz that last Sephiroth battle was ANNOYING. But yeah this def could have helped
whats the last purple materia orb you used on the last slot of sleek saber
Cool build, does adding skill master or speed plus materia help?
How or when can i get 2 materia slots linked on the Sleek Saber?
Bro I'm wondering the same, can't find the information anywhere lol
Level up your weapon, it'll happen automatically overtime.
Just got it. It's at weapon level 5.
I don't have plasma discharge with the rune blade. Only with the Umbral Blade
Bro how did you get your sleek saber to have a linked materia slot? Mine doesn't.
Google doesnt even know
Increase weapon level
how do you increase weapon level?@@danielmillward9947
Your weapons will gain new slots/linked slots as they level
I have the sleeker sword but the first 2 slots are not linkable. How do you get this?
Great video... I'm gonna have to try this out.
Question.. so I have to use Plasma Charge first before it starts proc'n afterwards?..
yes, once you activate plasma every time your ATB bar fills it will pop
Just curious, in remake it was possible to have HP Absorb + Enemy Skill linked along with Subversion + Warding linked plus the weapon skill reprieve to use self destruct without dying (and gain a full limit bar while doing it), is that still a viable combo in rebirth?
I’m very curious about this as well
I exploded Cloud yesterday, and yes it is.
Does elemental actually work on that? The tooltip says it would only effect the left materia.
It works with the dual ones. If you look at clouds sword you will see it go from fire to ice.
I noticed they also put Crisis Core materia in this game which is pretty cool one of them that I have is called jump it's a lot slower but it's really cool
Would be nice if you specified where to get these from. Like what do you mean “all the Junon” stuff
I find it's more useful to link this to MP absorb, then throw on regen, with barrier or haste, something like that. You'll maintain health and mp.
How does he get the linked material on sleek sabre?
That’s what I’m wondering!
How do you get that green effect on your sword. It looks it releases a wave or something
by immediately hitting square (attack) after hitting circle to dodge, if you keep hitting square and land a bunch of beams on a single target they will stack up and do sort of a shredder combo to the target, also if you are a good distance away from a target and start this green beam move but hold square cloud will flash toward a target and after hitting them launches you into atacking from the air and continuing to atack while in the air will keep you airborne, there are a couple atb moves that can also be done while airborne and some that can only be done while in the air
I can't wait till I get elemental materia and hp absorb . And I might switch it to cloud. Since Red has been using enemy skill materia
this set up can be used on just about anyone, works really well with barret
Plasma is from grasslands report
I love plasma . Its such a sick power up
How do you get it?
@@BigAussieCheeses It's a reward from one of Chadley's simulation trials. It's the one that requires you to assess 16 different enemies from the grasslands area.
@@BigAussieCheeses the simulation for discharge has you need to assess enough enemies and face a region's classified intel battle (which requires you do enough of the region's lifesprings to unlock it) but you also need to be dumping AP into the enemy skill materia as the later enemy skill trials need the materia ranked up
Plasma discharge link with hp obsorb materia is op! 😊
Yes more builds bro you’re the man 🤘🏾🤘🏾
Hello, do you have a this kind of build for hard mode ? Bosses hurt a bit.
Would using slipstream sabre work for the extra hp and mp healing when staggering enemies?
i've used this build for basically my whole playthrough, but just on tifa
Can you write with materia did you exactly used to each item?
Yup, big mistake he made I think of not adding a list lol.
Is there a trick to having HP Absorb trigger automatically with ATB gain and Plasma Discharge? I only get health back when I manually use Plasma Discharge
How you get attack and mage buff???
Sonic boom from level 1 enemy skill materia
For the weapon, if you're going for physical attack wouldn't Igneous saber be better?
A lot better. I think he just hasn’t gotten to that point yet. He called the Sleek Saber the highest attack sword which is very wrong lol. Igneous Saber is by far the highest, even without attack power boosts.
Okay but what if you grabbed a second elemental and used lightning and wind with it on top of all that?
the game clearly tells you in the materia screen that it only uses the left most set of linked materia so unfortunately you can not get all 4, but you can put the other on your armour on the same character and least get the resitances as well
@@PhantomHelix I don't really read descriptions I just throw shit at the wall till something sticks
Definitely using this on hard mode. Hopefully it won't get patched.
why would it get patched? thats exactly how that should work
