    I am so happy not to have any allergies!! I would totally have to get shots or meds if I did because I couldn't imagine living without cats in my life. My heart goes out to anyone that has to go through anything like that😸😸😸😸

    I am allergic to my cat, but I love him anyways. I'm on antihistamines, nose spray, eye drops and I still have flare ups now that he's getting older. I've had him for 18 years already! =^..^=

    Thankyou for covering this topic, you created such greatly researched and complete content so fast after I requested it! Kuddos. I did literally everything you mentioned in the video and after 2 months of changes I am symptom free even though I will complete the immunotherapy to be sure. I also found out I am highly allergic (as expected) to dust mites, so keeping the house clean and changing to easier-to-clean furniture had a double positive effect.

    I would also recommend claw caps and a self-scooping litter box. Along with dry shampoo dander baths, those really help my life with my kitty.

      Very good advice !! I also recommend to try being vegan for a year , or two !! Then stay vegan , or become vegetarian to maintain the affect ! I am telling this from my own experiences which I didn't hear from other vegans !! Lol It's tge PHYTOCHEMICAL that boosts immunes !! I highly recommend it ! I was extremely allergic to cats . One day I realized I was no longer allergic to cats !! I was allergic to them extremely since I was a little girl til becoming vegan at 27 !! Then , quitted vegan 15 years ago , switched to vegetarian diet , but the affect remained !! Amazing !! I rescued cats & they lived with me til they passed away . I can't have them anymore now for my financial reasons & other facts , but I miss them ( all of my dogs & cats ) a lot & think of them everyday !! They were my babies & bestfriends !! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🎃🐈‍⬛️💕💞

    9:45 As said, always follow your doctor's advice. But the allergy shot timeline may be different. Mine was a build up of the dose each week until I got to .5 mL and then I continue weekly shots. I began about 4 years ago and have almost completely eliminated reactions to all of my previous allergens. But it's you can develop new allergies, so a retest every once in a while is helpful so your shot solution can be adjusted. They also told me at the beginning that there is a tincture option that appeals to some people who dislike needles.

    I'm allergic to cats. I suffer hives and rashes more than sneezing or watery eyes. When my Felix was still alive, I took antihistamines and I bathed him once a week (with cat shampoo or a good baby soap). I brushed his fur every day, I brushed his teeth, and I changed our bedding once a week. I was perfectly fine that way. After he sadly crossed over to the spirit world (he didn't survive an encounter with our stalker!), I stopped taking the antihistamines. I now find that, when I'm near cats, it does affect me - saying that though, most cats don't get bathed regularly.
    Litter tray - I cleaned this out whenever he had used it, or when I came home from work.
    As for antihistamines - try Loratadine which is non-drowsy, I got the okay to take it from work and I worked on the railroad. They give Loratadine to pilots as well. You should be fine to drive and operate machinery on it.
    It's important with a cat allergy not to have carpet flooring. I got floor tiles and I mop the floor regularly. This is far more hygienic anyway, given that most people with allergies are allergic to dust mites. I'm allergic to latex as well, meaning carpets or carpet flooring is out anyway. On the rare occasions that someone comes to my house, I get either stupid questions about this - because everybody here in the UK has carpet flooring - or I get assumed to be poor/a down and out/unemployed/mentally disabled etc, so be prepared for this and think of something to say to such morons that will shut them up.
    I was never offered immunotherapy, here in the UK they don't do that, here it's at best "buy antihistamines and see how you cope", at worst "don't have a cat then". Doctors are extremely uncaring here, most are very abusive. This is because our medical system is based on a nationalized system rather than insurance based (insurance and private treatment is available but very expensive and only provides the most common treatments). If your doctor is uncaring - and many are in Canada and the US as well - forget discussing this with him and try what I have described here, it will make a difference!
    I would like to state though that for folks with a severe cat allergy, I would not recommend having cats. Severe allergies are the kind of allergies where someone suffers breathing difficulties even when entering a house where a cat has been living years ago. Such extreme allergies are rare but if you fall into this category, better admire cats from afar.
    I haven't had a new kitty since my Felix left this world as it wouldn't be the same and I miss him too much. However, I miss having cats around. Maybe one day I'll be ready. Love this channel! Cats are amazing!

      You were a great cat parent. When they pass on, I try to console myself by knowing they had a good home and lots of love.
      As for Loratadine, I've found that it works great and is cheaper then Benadryl

      @@StAlphonsusHasAPosse Thank you! Unfortunately I wasn't such a great mother - I wasn't at home when our stalker broke in and murdered my Felix. I was at work. I know I couldn't have known what would happen, but I had premonitions. I ignored them at the time because I had been told they were "just my fears and anxieties". However - I don't suffer from anxiety! I now know to take my premonitions serious. It's too late for Felix though.
      I have failed as a mother. If I had taken these warnings serious, I could have prevented the murder.
      Loratadine is indeed the best antihistamine currently on the market. I have never heard of anyone reporting any side effects.

      @LittleKitty22 Please forgive yourself. I know that's hard to do, but it is essential for our mental health. I assume you had to work, so you couldn't be home with Felix every minute. And if so, you could've been killed also, which would not have helped Felix either. You sound like a wonderful person who has been through a lot. Yes, a tragedy occurred, but please try to let go now. God tells us to love not just our neighbor, but ourselves as well. I will say a prayer for you and Felix. May God bless, keep, and comfort you.

    When I had cats I vacuumed the entire house every day. They slept with me if they wanted to. They cured many a migraine by purring by my head. My son and daughter are severely allergic to cats. It upsets me because I’ve always had cats and haven’t had one for 28 years. Do allergy shots work on people with severe allergies? I’m not a bad mom ..I would never get a kitty if it would make my (adult) children sick. I was just wondering.

      I'm in the UK and they won't even consider you for immunotherapy if you own a cat claiming it won't work. Did you have cats while you completed the immunotherapy. I'm genuinely considering saving up to pay private because at the moment it's a choice between my physical health or my mental health. I genuinely don't know what I'd do without my cat, so I really cannot get rid of him and can barely be apart from him for a day (I'm at home all the time).

    When I was young I discovered I was allergic to cats (I had 1 at the time.), along with dust, pollen, fresh cut grass and a few other things. The allergist said my allergy was not bad enough to get rid of the cat and advised the same things as you have. Today I have 5 cats with whom I sleep with (strictly platonic), cuddle with, pet, kiss and play with. I wash my hands frequently, shower daily and don’t have rugs.

    I wonder if that new cat food works that is supposed to help lower allergens for people.

    • @MrCaiobrz
      @MrCaiobrz 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It works, but you need to give a large amount (75%+ of their daily food), it is expensive, and it does not stop them from producing allergens, at best case (and this is directly from them) reduce up to 47%. So basically it helps, but your cat must not have any different dietary needs (if they need special food to protect their kidneys, for instance), and its just one possible step of many you should do to really reduce your allergen exposure.

We had them vetted, tested and spayed or neutered. 15 of them were kept inside and the rest in our barn with the sheep and goats. Being the cats that they were, half liked the kibble I fed them, the other half didn’t. It drove me crazy trying to find a good food they all liked!

    • @MrCaiobrz
      @MrCaiobrz 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cats are very strong, but because they do not show pain, lackluster guardians might not notice any warning sings until its too late. There are also a lot of other issues that can kill cats and people consider sudden "disease" death, like cats who can leave the house and end up poisoned by anti-pest agents. Also, vaccinations are extremely important on all pets even if they are not allowed outside, since you can easily bring a disease hidden in your shoes and not know. Neutered indoor cats can live up to 4 times longer than their feral counterpart (even those vaccinated) because of the dangers of "outside" life.
