- Remove the pump from the bottle. Rinse & dry the shaft of the pump. Firmly grip the pump shaft below the collar and twist the pump head to the right. The pump will pop up and it's now open! We have Hand Sanitizer. We ship across Canada & the US.

Khris Gonzalez I'm just as surprised as you are! I made this video mainly to have it available to help my customers if the pumps on my products are stuck. Rather than trying to describe the technique over the phone or by email, I send them this video. So imagine how surprised I am for it to be getting this many views (this is a lot for my channel ;-) and all of the wonderful comments. I know the frustration so I'm super happy it's helping!

Exactly! Just struggled for a long time until I used pliers to grip the ridged top of the tube then twist the pump head! SHEESH!

Just hold the shaft firmly....if u can't hold it with thumbh as shown ...grab the shaft with yr whole palm and move th throat in anticlockwise direction as shown 😊

@@naman_ind I had trouble because she says twist to the right. When I watched it again she is twisting to the left, counterclockwise. That worked.
Lol, the bottle I had to open was evil, I had to hold it with pliers, then it finally worked.

I felt so stupid needing to look this up too, but I’m so grateful that you provided this easy trick! After about 10 minutes of trying to get my giant pump bottle of Dove body wash open, and worrying that I was going to crack the plastic spout forcing it, I looked up your video and this method worked for me immediately! I had to use pliers to hold the bottom piece steady but it worked! I was all set to return the bottle to the store, so thank you! Subscribed now too.
Used channel lock pliers and a wet washrag to hold. I was stunned when the spout popped up, as described. I'm pretty sure she DOES have a cape. I will spread the good word on this technique!

Finally! A quick and easy way to get this darn thing open. Typically, I end up having to get rid of the bottle after dumping the product in a different one. Thank you for sharing. And for making a quick and easy video to watch.

While struggling with handsoap, right at the point of beginning to lose touch with reality and questioning my own sanity, I came across this genius golden nugget of logic. Now I have hand soap as well as the final 1/5th of a huge bottle of 4 in 1 in the shower without having to use the pump shaft like I'm collecting honey. 😅Thanks a lot, I appreciate you for this!

Just today I was explaining to a friend how I’ve been struggling to open my soap pump. She gave me the funniest look. I felt like an idiot. Relieved to find I’m not the not one that has been stuck. I still struggled in getting it turned, until I got the kitchen rubber gloves to hold the shaft. That really did the trick.

Genius! I couldn't be bothered washing the tube 😂 So I used a tissue on the part you told me to squeeze. And it worked! The tissue gave it extra grip. Thanks so much. I knew there had to be a hack.

If you’re impatient like me, you can skip the rinse& dry and just grip the soapy end with 1/2 a paper towel. Worked like a charm! Thank you!

I knew this problem had to be addressed when this became the #1 issue my customers were having with my products. I try to make sure the pump cooperates with the end user but sometimes they get tight again during shipping.
Thanks very much! This tip saved me with an extremely frustrating bottle. In the end, I had to use your technique but actually grip the shaft with pliers to get a strong enough grip (even after completely drying it). In my case, it was a large bottle of Purell, so maybe not what your customers deal with. Anyhow, much appreciated!

I was able to finally understand how this thing works -- something that I have been randomly stumbling through my adult life.
I sell a few personal care products with pumps. I had a particular batch that were constantly giving my customers issues, so I made this video to show them how to open them. I had no idea it would get so many views.

Edit: I still couldn't make it work, so ended up brute forcing it open and the top part is no longer attached, but at least I can get soap.
You must have gotten a faulty pump. If you have the receipt I’d try to return or exchange it. If not, buy the same brand and swap the new pump for the broken one use it that way. Put the broken pump on the new bottle and put it away until you finish the first bottle then swap the pumps again.
Unbelievable. This not only helped me understand how it's supposed to work, but let me finally fix an alarming trend in broken pumps. Thank you for sharing this wisdom.

Worked like a charm!. So the real solution is to be able to hold the part of the plastic shaft that's inside the bottle to prevent it from turning while unscrewing the top. I made sure to rinse the entire shaft to ensure good grip and that did the job, thanks!

Pumps are all different. I had a large container of body lotion and could not open the spring pump. Eventually I used one piece of information from this video: remove pump mechanism from container and wash it off. Then I used an idea from another video which was to hold the top of the mechanism (in my case the part that was in the lotion) with a pair of pliers and and torque the spring top up. It took much more effort than I would have imagined. I also had to wrap a paper towel around the top of the tube because even though I’d washed it, it was still greasy and slippery. I’m glad I finally got it because opening the bottle to use the contents was a hugely messy process; I almost threw the whole thing away!

Yes, sometimes pliers are necessary. And very rarely, it simply won’t work and needs to be returned.

This worked for me, thank you for sharing. This video brought a little more sanity to my life. I did have to hold the part underneath the cap with a pair of pliers, because I have pretty weak grip in my hands due to repetitive motion injury.
