- Don't you hate it when you get home from the store but then can't open the pump cap of the shampoo / conditioner / soap / body wash?! So in this video I thought I'd share this little tip with you. You will need a rubber band...

Thank you so very much! I've been transferring my old cap to my new bottle of St. Ives hand lotion for 4 bottles in a row. It got to where the pump just wouldn't work any longer. On a lark, I tried TH-cam. And here you are! It works!!!! Thanks for taking the time to explain and show so clearly.
I've reused pumps too 😂 (usually hand sanitizer, I bought a huge one to refill the smaller ones, but after a while they died)

Oh my goodness! Thank you. I bought a shower gel bottle that I could not get to pop up. I had a thicker blue rubber band (one used for produce). This hack worked the first time!!! So happy I came across your video!

This worked great after trying two other methods which did not work (1. squeezing bottle and turning pump 2. rinsing pump, letting it dry and twisting pump). Third times a charm!! Thank you so much.

I felt ridiculous having to search this up, I feel much better now with your thorough explanation on the subject, I thought that smaller ring was a separate part the first time but I guess what I was missing was a death grip on it with my fingers. Otherwise, I would've just thought I was in denial about a broken pump!
Yes and it is really hard to get that death grip 😂 That part is inset and so small on many bottles that my fingers just can't pinch tight enough in that narrow space! It's a common problem and you are totally not alone!

It's ridiculous that I spent so much time trying to figure out how to open a stupid bottle of body wash!! Can't the industry come up with an easier solution for the consumer for Pete's sake? Great tip! Another easy way to open these crazy pumps, is to unscrew the pump from the bottle. Wipe off the top part of the shaft, just under the lid. Grip on to the shaft and twist the top part of the pump counter-clockwise. Pop!

Aha! what youre saying MAKES SENSE. I'd already identified the seal thing as my problem, and i tried to pry it away like i occasionally have to do with drink bottles but that got me nowhere.
Just knowing how these bottles work is such a help, even if i was able to get a grip without an elastic band!

Oh my gosh. What helped the most was your close-up of the parts of the bottle. After seeing that, I took a grippy thing I use for opening jars, then wrapped a kitchen towel around that for more pressure. Only then could I get enough grip on the teeny part of the pump. Also, don't forget: You gotta believe it's gonna work. Your video gave me the confidence to believe. Thank you!
Even knowing what to do it's kinda tricky isn't it?! My jar grippers are too thick and I cannot grip just the little spot that I need without grabbing the wrong parts at the same time. I'm so glad this work for you, thank you for your kind words and for subscribing😊

3 days I've just been unscrewing the top and pulling the whole pump out to get lotion. I'm so glad I got fed up and searched this video. Thank you! For the rings that you can't get to with your fingers, you can use those big rubber bands like you put over your waste baskets to keep the bags from falling inside. It worked for me anyway. lol
Wait what? Big rubber bands to keep your trash bag from sliding exist? I've got to find me some of those!

Thank you. This worked for me with a hair band, but I still had to grab the hairband with vise grips. It was a large bottle of head and shoulders shampoo. I would never have been able to figure it out without your video!
