  • Xenoplatyura beaveri (Mycetophilidae) is a web spinning fungus gnat whose larvae inhabit the traps of tropical pitcher plants Nepenthes ampullaria. They spin sticky webs above the surfaces of pitcher fluids to trap emerging mosquitoes (here Tripteroides tenax, which also inhabit the pitchers naturally).
