Of course the volume is there because there are a ton of people in Chicago, but by the numbers it's safer to live in Chicago than Lafayette with their conservative mayors & DA's. It's not about who runs the city, it's about the people within it. Violence is everywhere. Educate yourself and stop boiling problems down to politics alone. If we're to just go by politics, I could say that the largest and most prosperous cities in the US are almost all run by Democrats, and some of the poorest states are run by Republicans.
