I definitely would like to see a compare with the Tonal before buying one myself. My biggest concern at this moment is the single resistance point from below (maybe some optional pulleys mounted on the wall?). Other then that, I am pretty much sold as soon as I first saw the kickstarter.
thanks for this great first review. I would certainly be interested in a comparison video to Tonal as these are the 2 systems I am trying to decide between. Specifically what you get for workouts free here vs. what you have to pay Tonal for.
I think that the retracted platform position would be great for doing seated rows and would give an extra position for cable movement. Hoping also that they might be able to integrate heart rate monitoring with Apple Watch sometime.
Yeah, I have not seen that as a recommended exercise and don't know if it is designed to support resistance when collapsed. That would be great if it can support that. I have to imagine Apple watch is coming, but down the road a bit.
I'd love to hear how smooth it is compared tie Gym Monster 2, if you have the version 2. If you HAD to choose either the Speediance Gym Monster or this Aeke K1 for the REST of your life, which would you pick? And Why? Thanks
I have the original gym monster. They should send me a new one so I can compare! :) Honestly, both products are great products but different. These really depends on what is important to you and how you plan to use it. If you outline what you are really looking for, I am happy to give you my opinion.
I was still able to do triceps movements so I feel that was still covered. Lat pull downs might be hard to replicate and I see that being a potential problem area. Overall, it feels like you can still target most muscles, but I am still working my way through all exercise options. I will probably be able to answer this question better in another month or so when I have really hit all exercise options.
One thing I forgot to ask... does this only take proprietary attachments? Or can you use any third party cable attachments like you can with the Speediance?
I don't know the name off the top of my head, but it is a square clip that goes in. I believe it is exactly the same as Speediance. I have to image there are methods to make other attachments work with this. I have not looked into it yet, but have to imagine you can.
Do you have to be on the platform to use the cables? For example, on the hip thrust example they showed, it seemed like the person's back was basically touching the screen when performing the movement and if someone has a bigger/longer body, it would be awkward, or could I flip the bench and face the screen to do the movement?
I will try to test that movement as I am 6'3" and will give us a good idea of how it works. But, yes, you need to be putting weight on the platform. Otherwise, it wants to start pulling up a bit.
@@Learnwithtravis Is that a common thing to expect with this kind of design? (For example, vitruvian trainer+ and speediance comes to mind) My top 2 considerations are Aeke and Speediance and trying to figure out if losing out on the vertical pulldowns for lat and triceps will be a huge deal. And how is the smoothness of the cables as well?
@benji78900 Great questions, same here for me. I have ordered the Aeke already, but I'm just looking for the final confirmation that I made the right choice.
I was trying to test some of these items on both machines. Either machine, you really need to be on the platform unless doing really light weight. I have not really run into any scenarios where this seems to be a problem. As far at vertical pulls downs, Tonal is by far the leader because the arms extend out above you. Next is Speediance Gym Monster because it is vertical, but it is in front of you. So you can't pull straight down and have to alter the natural movement a bit. With the Aeke K1, I have not figured a way to target those muscles. Maybe there is, but I can't see it now. I am very much enjoying the AEKE K1, but I think that is one area you have to considerer how you would replace it from another option. Hope that helps! If not, toss me a comment!
Hi Travis, I wish you all the best in the New Year. I have a favor to ask. I saw your review of the AEKE K1 and I’m considering backing it on Kickstarter. However, when I checked the reviews on their official Facebook page, I started feeling a bit unsure. All the comments there look like paid scams. Also, I couldn’t find their claimed Red Dot Design Award anywhere in the database. I understand that you reviewed the product as part of their marketing efforts, but how genuine is it really? Is there a risk that I’ll buy it and never receive it? Or should I go for Speediance instead? Thank you so much for your response. Marian
Thank you! I wish you all the best as well! I have noticed that paid\bot comments are a thing and generally don't trust a lot of comments I see. Here is what I can tell you. They sent me the AEKE K1 to perform a review. So, I can't speak to order fulfillment and general support issues. I can tell you other companies have struggled with initial demand as they are a new company and figuring out logistics (Speediance as an example). Will AEKE K1 be like that? I have no idea, but being prepared to be patient might be a wise choice. Another thing I can tell you is, I don't see a company building a machine this advanced to scam people. This is very expensive product to engineer and has so much technology built into it. This makes me feel like they have to be legit. As I tested, this machine really surprised me in a good way. Screen quality, load times, ability to interact with, mirror quality, camera functionality, AI modes.... All this for initial release. My assumption is that in 1 or 2 years, this thing does a lot more. In short, there are some things I can't speak to but as an overall day 1 product, I was very impressed. As far as this vs speediance, I would suggest examining how you plan to use the machine and then pair which machines features tie to your uses most. Hope that helps!
@ Thank you for your super quick response. I really appreciate your honesty. You’re right-scamming customers while producing such expensive technology wouldn’t make sense. I’ll trust what they’re saying :) As for the choice, I honestly don’t know what suits me better. I’ve recently had a baby, so I don’t have time to go to the gym. I’ve watched pretty much all the reviews of Speediance and AEKE K1. What I need is a way to work out well, with quality, and in a healthy way. I really like AEKE K1 for its ability to track correct exercise form, the AI trainer, and, of course, the screen-it looks super cool. Plus, its design fits seamlessly into any room in the house. On the other hand, Speediance has excellent vertical resistance (though I’m not sure how much I’d miss it on the K1) and is already in its second generation, meaning they’ve probably ironed out the bugs. That said, its design wouldn’t work in just any room. If you were in my position and had to make this choice, what would you recommend?
@@majofury Both seem to be very solid options and I am going to guess you would enjoy either if that helps take some of the pressure away. You are right that Speediance has more points of resistance. This is nice for different exercise options, but there are usually alternatives. Generally, I would say you would know if this a showstopper or not. Reading into your comments a bit, I may suggest the K1. The reason I say this extra technology. It pulls you in more, gets you excited to keeping using it, and introduces you to new things in a run way. You want something this nice to pull you in and it sorts of sounds like that is where you are at. Baby has you exhausted and you could easily talk yourself out of exercising. Which one is mostly likely to get you excited to still go get that workout in? Again, Speediance is great as well. Whatever route you go, don't question it. Just enjoy it and maximize your usage of that option. Good luck!
@ Thank you, Travis. I’ve weighed all the pros and cons and decided to back the AEKE K1. When it arrives, I’d be happy to share my first impressions with you. Take care!

Great feedback! I will try to include that in the video!
100%f. I don't know why they did not use pulleys.
Agree with the others a 3 way comparison, Tonal & Speediance would be great. Looking forward to it'
Need to get my Omni One review done and then I will check overall interest in this. Hoping to do it!
Definitely interested in a comparison to Speediance!! (I've already ruled out Tonal.)
Starting to see more comments for this! I really want to do this review, so hopefully interest remains high!
Love the look of it. But I went with speediance with the towers for pull downs, rowing, upright flys, etc

Do you feel like you’re missing certain range of motion without being able to pull from about your head like with ordinance and tonal?
