    Hi Mike thanks a lot as always for your well thought balanced and candid explanation. I find it really helpful that you keep on with regular updates on what you have reviewed. This is very serious and credible. About Speediance let’s try to invert to concept:
    Given than safety is an issue either i am a heavy weight and i can fix it (with a big margin of safety) or i am an average lifter and i can fix it (within a big margin of safety):
    what are you left with
    - 2500$
    - no fixed mounting
    - no assembly (!!!!!!!!!)
    - you can move it
    - versatility is huge (as you correctly say)
    - no recurring fees
    - unique features such as eccentric only
    - people showing you the technique of everything
    - you can set your resistance as stated below (very wise) to a pre exaustion mode
    - the key issue is the bench press. use another way i think we all have an alternative to
    i think to sum it up (apologies for length) that the opportunity cost is go and buy. To replicate all of that + the acceleration in the learning curve you might have to spend 3x. Which we do anyway but in quality synergetic safe stuff. Thanks a million sorry the length

      Maybe but there is still the worry about if the machine fails and because it is made in china. China don't really have a very good track record when it comes to products and the price is quite high.I am seeing tonnes of paid reviews that are just not honestly online and i think in 6 months to a year we will see more honestly reviews like this showing some of the problems of this machine. I was thinking about buying one but in Australia you are paying $4,000 for one which in my opinion is just way too high.

    Hi Sliding Bench, this is going be the wave of the future interactive fitness equipment that can tell your weight a whole-body assessment. With AI you can get a greater evaluation of training that can be more intuitive helping you with motivation and nutritional guide and can show different health evaluations even help you with assisted training for force reps or as a spotter for consistent work outs and without the fear of getting hurt. All these machines are just a prelude to what's happening in the fitness and health industry. It's a billion-dollar industry and it shows that there's so much to innovate in terms of what you have and what's coming. This is only the beginning of something we can all invest in.

    • @hybridresistance

      100%, it's going to be crazy what the future holds considering what this can do so early in the game of these machines. Don't get me wrong though, I don't like relying on technology and think they'll always be a place for old school iron.

    • @wilfredotorres6628
      @wilfredotorres6628 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@hybridresistance I even think there will be some technology built into iron products so they would be some interactive things that they could put into like a squat rack or leg machine and things like that that can assist you with your lifts...

  • @countbelisarius9742
    @countbelisarius9742 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I suggest using your Maxpro for lifts where safety is a concern. The lack of eccentric resistance, a disadvantage for building strength (how much is controversial), is an advantage in safety and is why I bought a Maxpro versus Spediance (plus no electricity nor internet needed).

    • @CJHolcomb82
      @CJHolcomb82 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have both. The smoothness of the cables on my Gym Monster is so much better than my MaxPro. And assist modes definitely help where safety is a concern. I love my MaxPro too, but I really only use it for travel, and typically for door mounting. I also use an Innodigym P1 Lite for traveling, for the exercises I can do on a platform/board based machine.

    Mike, great video. I have a Speediance and share a lot of the same concerns you have.
    That said, the benefits of this device outweigh the cons for me. I'm an average lifter and use this to stay active and toned looking a long with a treadmill. I replicate a lot of the same movements I did at the gym, which is speaks to how flexible the device can be.
    My wife also uses it and enjoys the follow along workouts.
    My workout area is a corner of my basement, so the small footprint is key.
    The customer service is an issue though. You cant speak to anyone directly and all interactions are via email. The company is responsive and helpful though but takes 12 hours on the top end to respond.
    Buying from their website directly kinda sucks. They take forever to ship and you have hound their customer service reps for tracking information as the site has a delay in providing thay info.
    That all said, I share your concerns about longevity. That's my key concern but the small footprint, price compared to Tonal and the fact i dint have to bolt it into the wall, sold me on it.

    For safety, Speediance has two assist/spotter modes you can choose. If you hesitate on a lift Speediance can release all the weight or half the weight so that you can finish the rep.

  • @marcaube7257
    @marcaube7257 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I agree that the "ring" control over weight selection may be an issue for the exercises that you highlighted. If this is truly advanced technology, the user must be able to voice activate a reduction of weight resistance "immediately". With AI technology that feature is a simple add on. There are numerous "smart" tech items available that are voice activated and are not relying on a tiny battery or bluetooth connection. All smart tech items in our home are plugged in to an AC outlet. No failures. I always remove my ring prior to a workout, I do not want to wear theirs.

  • @scottspaulding7965

    what about the assist modes? that pretty much takes the risk out the ring not working imo . i have had it now for three months and overall, I love it no issues. I train on it 4 days a week for an hour at a time on average. But I have limited space so that's why I got it. I have heard bad things about the customer service. And I do worry long term how long of a life span it will have. But I am not on a limited budget so if I get five years or out of it I will be ok with that. But what I have also seen is folks that have had issues, it's really easy to repair yourself and replacement parts were sent within a reasonable time frame.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I should have mentioned the assist modes, because you’re right, those are definitely there. My only problem personally with those is that they will turn on when I do not want them to. And even with those I am still relying on a computer to catch on if something were to happen, like a sudden fluke with the bar slipping out of my hand. All this to say some sort of physical safety bars would be nice.

    • @scottspaulding7965
      @scottspaulding7965 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @SlidingBenchTrainer good points. but you would have the same issue with a real barbell. I find assist 2 works pretty well. I had the ring fall off my finger and did not have assist mode on . I would like to see them have real smart handles and barbells like when it first released. The ring has its perks but I would rather not workout with it myself. I heard they were working on new smart handles . Will see.

Can you expand?

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it depends on what you plan on using it for. If this is your stand alone system and you have no plans on getting weights, then maybe not. Basically there's of course some short comings with the weight, but it depends on what your goals are. For me, I have access to heavy options in bench, squat, and deadlift that if I want to go heavy, I still can.

  • @sydneybird116
    @sydneybird116 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I don't know how these machines produce the resistance force, but I would think that the software could, for example for a bench press, turn off the force when you get some distance from your chest. For example, you position the bar 0.5 inch from your chest, turn on the force and as long as you stay more than 0.5 inches from your chest the force will stay on, but in failure mode, once the bar gets less than 0.5 inch from your chest the force is automatically removed. Much like a resistance band that has very little tension at the start so you can't really hurt yourself if you fail with the bar on your chest. As a 63 yo, I am rethinking the safety issues.

There have been other reviews that have talked about shared these possible safety risks, especially using ring. I've had my own close calls (albeit not fatal), with turning on / off weight. With all that said, I love my Gym Monster, these are just things that people should consider to make sure they consider with an electronic gym. The Ring sucks and is definitely a safety concern. They need to go back to smart handles and a Bluetooth attachment to place on the barbell. Speediance also needs a US based office so customers can speak directly to a human and not send emails about their concerns or issues and warranty claims. Also when the Gym monster breaks down people have to wait weeks to months for new parts to be sent to them from China and Speediance relies on the customer to fix the Gym monster themselves with the new part and there’s a lot of people that aren’t mechanically inclined to be able to. Lastly in my opinion and others I don’t feel that Speediance or any other resistance machine or bands will produce actual strength, the machines and bands will definitely pump up the users muscles but I don’t feel it’s a true strength builder like free weights.
