Britney is a legend. Looking back and watching and listening to all what she has done, the beautiful and talented she was there is no doubt that she will always be the princess of the pop. No one could ever beat her 👸🏼
I was too young for Brittney Spears growing up so I've just started diving into her career and wow can't believe some of the craziness she's had to go through.
Britney I know you publicly announced that you won't return to music industry ever again, I really wish you could live happily ever after, but if one day you change your mind and decide to sing again, your fans will always be there
At the time, she was in her "F you world, I do whatever the heck I want" phase. Kevin was like the litteral opposite of whom the world wanted to see Britney with and I think that's exactly why she was so drawn to him. It was like an act of rebellion.
François Le Borgne that’s also when she started using drugs… And what made her have a nervous break down because she got used by a man she loved, who had two kids by her. And went from single and young and 23, to divorced with two kids by 25. Everyone forgets because she got sick but he really screwed her & left her.
I recently read an article about how the public's scrutiny of their relationship contributed to her issues and I had never thought of it that way. Like people (including myself at the time) were basically rooting for her marriage to fail. We were actively rooting against a person and relationship that contributed to her happiness at that time (happiness in just getting to be a human and have a break for the first time in pretty much ever), and it was perceived by her as another way people were trying to control her life rather than the save her (as many of us fans thought we were doing by hating on Kevin). I don't know if the outcome of their relationship and her life following their split would have been any different had that element not been present, but I can see how that could hurt her more than it helped.
@@blackmarketdiy9963 I pretty much agree but I think the cracks started showing before she even met Kevin. She was already writing music about wanting her independence and the downfalls of fame going all the way back to Oops. Then the break-up with Justin, him publicly talking about their sex life and essentially using her name in every way he could to ignite his own career, the Diane Sawyer interview where she broke down, followed by the 55-hour marriage. So much had happened to her in such a short period of time (two years). Kevin was, in her mind then, an escape from all of that, but it doesn't mean she wouldn't have gotten there eventually. He just expedited the process. When people are are in a vulnerable place as she very much was before him, they are susceptible to unhealthy behaviors and decisions.
I remember when Britney & Christina both came out around the same time and everybody was all about Christina and her vocals, but I was always much more of a Britney fan because she is multi-dimensional. Not only can the girl sing, she can dance and perform her ass off. It doesn't matter whether she is performing a ballad or a high energy pop song, she completely goes there. I've never seen another performer who can emote the way that she can, no matter what the song calls for. She can do strong, weak, happy, sad, energetic, lonely, egotistical, humble, shy, outgoing, sexy, sweet, etc. Whatever the song calls for, you can always count on Britney to nail the corresponding video and live performance
I adored Britney as a child and I despised Christina 😅. As an adult, I agree that Christina has better vocals, but it still doesn't change the fact that she's also had a bitchy, diva attitude, which did eventually have a negative impact on her success. Also, her inconsistency didn't help. And in 2008/2009, Lady Gaga burst onto the pop scene, and blew Xtina away with her voice, although today I also know that that jerk, Perez Hilton, sabotaged Xtina online. I have never binged on Xtina records front to back like I have had with Britney, but today there are a bunch of Xtina songs that I like. Britney has always been multitalented: singing, dancing, and yes, acting, even though since "Crossroads" she's been dismissed as a "flop" actress simply because to say so is part of the "hate Britney" bandwagon. Plus, she has one of the sweetest, most gentle and most down-to-earth personalities. She's virtually dissed no one publicly; the one or two times she did "shade" someone else it was down in a polite, joke-like manner; unlike so many of the female artists of the last decade who constantly bitch about each other and treat each other in horrible ways. And Britney actually HAS a good voice: people should go back and listen to her first four studio records, not just the singles. Unfortunately, it's true that producers did damage her voice by forcing her to lip-sync and use the "baby" voice. The cigarettes, alcohol and drugs she used over the years to cope with all the stress she experienced also didn't help, though it's understandable why she did use them. Fortunately, on her last album, "Glory" (and her 2013 song "Perfume"), one can hear her real voice, and it still has potential. Also, she recently sang a cover of Bonnie Raitt's song "Something to talk about", 100% live, and while she hasn't got the best voice, it's a thousand times better than the "baby" voice for which she's known.
@@Artfanbookfan25 omg can’t you all leave Xtina alone too? If she wasn’t assertive and a boss like some other artists such as Mariah Madonna Pink or Beyoncé she would have been misguided like Britney so no Christina is not a bitch she is a boss and she knows her worth. She can be snarky with the media and that’s a part of the game. Plus we talk about Christina circa 2004 it’s 2021 now. So called stars like Instagramers, youtubers or tiktokers now have worse behavior and no talent to back them up and everybody find it normal. I think people like Aretha were shadier than Xtina and I wish Britney was as happy as Christina and that’s not a shady remark I really feel for her but her fans need to leave Christina alone. Unfortunately none of them are really trending now it’s all about cardi b and Beyoncé so please save your energy. However Christina is more relevant in the industry because she is constant with her music and when we think about them the music should prevail. Who cares about personal lives. You can fight for them all you want they won’t invite you over for thanksgiving lol
For me, in this video, Britney is at her peak in terms of appearance and energy. She was only 22 and already had a very successful career behind her. She had established herself, and by then, she was competing with herself. In every video, she performed very well as an actress, beyond being a singer. It’s no coincidence that she has some of the best music videos by a pop artist. She gave it her all. I remember I bought the ‘Greatest Hits: My Prerogative’ DVD. I watched every single one of them. I miss that era and the stars who were at their best back then.

This video was the last we’ve seen with true Britney. When she was really not a girl and not yet a woman. The video is so dark and mysterious, obviously one of the best of her videos for the whole career. Will be missing her as this person and obviously time is gone. But certainly this her appearance, this face, this vibe I’ll keep about her whole my entire life. Thanks to Britney and whole her team, as video director and stylists, musicians and all others for this lucky and unbelievable time. P.s. obviously it’s the most stylish video for the whole her career. And the most beautiful.
I disagree, this is the last time we saw the highly commercialized young Britney. It’s different than the real Britney. The last time we got to see Britney free from her conservatorship was in the Piece Of Me music video. The last time we saw her be happy and proud of her work was with her latest album in 2016, Glory.

One of her most underrated ones. The lyrics speaking for itself.
okay,, this song and video is really underrated! this should have been a great success if you see how most music videos are nowadays! britney always has the greatest music videos!
So true! The video is amazing, but she don't promoted this song and never added on a tour :( maybe that's the reason
maybe cause its just a bobbi brown cover and not an original britney song
I will not mentioned "Make Me"

People and media just put her in a box and trivialize her as a 'blonde' but she is so much more, so worthy of love and so strong. He is dead and people make fun about him and hurt his memory and she is alive and people make fun about her ignoring what she was gone through.

Makes zero sense since she has only written very few songs. I think we all know she expresses herself via her spinning and her pole dancing.

Who is Kevin
@@cjelemos1679 Her ex-husband
At the time, she was in her "F you world, I do whatever the heck I want" phase. Kevin was like the litteral opposite of whom the world wanted to see Britney with and I think that's exactly why she was so drawn to him. It was like an act of rebellion.
François Le Borgne good point
That was her downfall unfortunately
K-fed left his pregnant girlfriend for her and did absolutely shit in their relationship
Pop girlies back then really serving
it's probably one of my favourite music videos all time!
Exactly
Girl, nobody cared about Christina when she came out. She was always in Britney's shadow.

Britney marathon 💗 this video is unreal
For me, in this video, Britney is at her peak in terms of appearance and energy. She was only 22 and already had a very successful career behind her. She had established herself, and by then, she was competing with herself. In every video, she performed very well as an actress, beyond being a singer. It’s no coincidence that she has some of the best music videos by a pop artist. She gave it her all. I remember I bought the ‘Greatest Hits: My Prerogative’ DVD. I watched every single one of them. I miss that era and the stars who were at their best back then.
Waiting for the day for her to perform this live!

Hard to believe it has been twenty years since Britney Spears issued this Bobby Brown remake classic. Those two singers certainly had a lot of common, both on and off the stage. Their music continues to vitalize people. The Indian instrumentation at the start of this song was phenomenal.
