If anyone knew that all these sounds can be reproduced in the Yamaha DX 7 this dream synth would cost 10 K $/E or to place it better not so much money would have been spent in analog gear. DX 7 is a dream and of course you as well a top sound designer
And knowing - based on an interview on TH-cam - that Jean-Michel Jarre himself ''hated so much the dx-7''... because of the decline of 'analogue synthesis' after that famous introduction of that big game changer the ''dx-7'' in particular and FM synthesis - as a new paradigm in sounddesign - in general... So it's quite funny to hear his subtractive soundscapes imitated very closely by fm synthesis of that ''dx-7'' 😄 Maybe it's time tot learn a little bit about FM Synthesis, based on this magnificent channel 🙄😏😓. Personaly I'm a big fan of FM-synthesis and Wavetable Synthesis , the 'big blue' PPG-synthesizers. Thanks a lot, misters/masters John Chowning and Wolfgang Palm 👍👍👍 But it's also true that Yamaha CS-80 is the emperor of synthesizers, still until today... as the black perl in the realm of subtractive synthesis.
The oxygene track is spot on! Nice rendition, very close to the original version. This is proof that DX7 can sound like an analog synth pretty well. It truely is quite flexible.
Giving to the DX7 a different face and glory from the famous presets is an hard work that few really great musicians and arranger have done in the music history. You are one of that, thanks for your passion and very useful advice. Great work
Mr Jean Michel Jarre & Vangelis compositions lovers... Watch it ! Thumbs up & thanks for these wonderful sounding moments through these perfectly designed DX7 sounds & awesome performances... Easy to understand why the fabulous Yamaha DX7 MK1 remains your preferred keyboard... ;-)) Keep sharing your passion & talents through these musical jewels ! ;-))
I'd pay for patches. I can loose a weekend twating around on my old DX7 (an Aussie one from a salvo shop in Humpty Doo as it happens) but you have some good stuff there mate.
Did you made all those efects in Oxygen with the DX7? If yes, can you make tutorials on how to make similar efects? Turials on similar Jaen Micheal and Vangelis patches would be nice too.
great work...you captured the essence of these tracks. im impressed that you can do all with the dx7...you really understand it well and it comes across in the music
Wow, you make a DX7 sound better than almost anyone (I say that cause Bo Tomlyn is your only competition and he's retired lol). Would be an instant purchase if you ever made these available for sure.
Nice one, well tweeked DX7 patches. I used DX7 with my "CS wannabie" patch for BR end tites cover version recently. Also looking forward when you start layering her with your MKS70 (myself im getting soon JX-8P).
That was just truly inspiring and an amazing job!! I'd love to get those patches, but more importantly I now aspire to be able to program my DX7 mk1 like that. Why don't you post any videos any more? :-(
Very close on Blade Runner Blues, although some of the notes are not correct on the lead I think. Lovely sounds, Im amazed you can get the sounds so so close, fantastic work! A lot of people here want to buy you SysEx patches, why not make money! Or share for free like thousands of others do! :)
just goes to show the power and flexibility of the DX7 mk1. I love mine and love to program it. I find FM synthesis easy to program. I have Aperger's so I love a good challenge.
The DX7 mk 1 is such an an amazing instrument. I love mine. I also have a DX7s but in my opinion it doesnt sound as good as the original but it sounds great too
What do you think: Would it be possible to simulate a resonant filter by just adding a sine of the resonance frequency to the sound? I mean you have to choose frequencies that are actual harmonics of the sound. But you can fade, say from the 4th to the 5th to the 6th harmonics and so on, in order to simulate a sweep with a resonant filter.
the dx7 mkii has two separate outputs so you can play it on stereo. in addition you can split the keyboard like if it were two DX7s due to its bi timbrality
These are great sounds, and I love the tutorials. No offense intended, but how fo we know if these sounds are all really from a Yamaha DX7? I find the strings part quite difficult to imagine can from a DX7. Sure, it's sawtooth waves, but there's something about the quality of them that doesn't seem like it could come from a DX7. Of course Mr. PowerDX7 owes us nothing, in fact he has given his excellent FM synthesis tutorials for free, which I'm grateful for. However there's some doubt in me about the validity of all the patches, are we being pranked here?!
Thanks for your positive comment. As I'm a Mac user, I use Keynote to create slides and diagrams with animation and either iMovie or Final Cut Pro X for video (I'm moving towards Final Cut Pro X with high quality video editing). MIDI and Audio recording is done with Logic Pro X (I used to use Cubase for Mac back in 1997 to mid 2000, but transitioned to Logic Pro X in 2016). I saved enough money to get a new Sony professional 4K camera (with 4K upgrade) and use high bit rate 1080P HD video recording (50/60 progressive frame per second with 50 Mb per second bit rate) for the DX7 demo videos (when I play a little).
wow that's nice!! I Also use Cubase, wow how many years are you into music? In 1997 I was 4 years old :) I wonder whether Keynote is available for PC users (Windows 10 that is) because I don't use mac?
Yotam Cohen if you're on PC, Adobe Premiere PRO is excellent for editing. I think he uses Keynote for drawings diagrams etc. You can do that with Google Slides / Drawings (in your browser). Good luck
Hay man! the sound of the electric piano smooth, did you make it with the same DX7 or is it a separate vst? I've wanted to get that preset for a long time and I can't find it in the vst
Muthafokker? The JPs are incredible but the DXs have much more realtime control possibilities. And if you can go beyond yetanotheranalogfiltersweep are still remarkable bits of kit.

it's not spot on at all. it's sloppy and not tight, just listen to the beat
@@minnyhastholm9559 The DX7 is not capable of emulating all the different keyboards used in Oxygene 🤣

Amazing!!!
This is a bright example that with a simple synthesizer, you can make music.
Everything else is an excuse for our consumerism.
Such an amazing job programming the old DX7 mki ... I love mine. Patches would be amazing! Thanks for considering

Masterful and beautiful! 🎹
Awesome!!!!!
Where can one get these wonderful patches...?
I'm curious too. :)
Awesome sounds man....I gotta get the backlit screen for mine. I get jealous every time I see one of those screens LOLOL Great work!!
A Mk1 DX7 with a backlit LCD? What sorcery is this!?

Sweet, i love my mk1 too.
Jean Michel Jarre never used a DX7 or any of Yamaha's DX range as he wanted a synth with a filter & the DXes didn't have one.
Tbf it is used in ethnicolour for like 3 notes which sounds like the dx bells
I want to buy your power presets. Are they for download?
ClassicCult same here. Take my money!
I'm in, too. Would love to add them to my collection.
Hey man! Sounds great as always. Just wondering Are your patches available for download?
Would you share the syx? Perhaps not? :)
Are these incredible patches available to download any where? I have never heard a String Machine sound like that nailed on a DX7 before. Superb!
