Back in 1982 When I was around 7,my dad had to go to Dallas for a computer company training course and this album was part of the soundtrack to the slideshow (or movie he watched there I can't remember) and he bought this album when he got back as he had really thought it was amazing. He went out to the local big name store where we lived in Langley BC and came home with a top of the line Sanyo home stereo system. We both would sit listening to this masterpiece that dad was able to find locally and he would blast it as loud as he could before the needle would resonate the sound through the bass. We shared some cool times to this record and Oxygene too. I think I was driving my mom bananas when I would just sit and listen to them both but Equinoxe was and is my favorite. I found out one day that if you relaxed your eyes and stared at the third row of watchers, dead centre of the record album that they would stand up and it was all 3-D. I told mom and she couldn't see it,dad couldn't either. We moved a few years later and the record was lost somehow during it. But I never forgot the album name. Disques Dreyfus with the lady relaxing on the back logo stuck out for some wierd reason too. Fast forward a decade or 3,I finally found a copy at my local record store and I didn't care about the $75 dollar copy price due to import charges 'cause I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO HAVE IT. I've since had the same record player dad owned rebuilt in the last 5 years and introduced this album to my kids. They get a kick out of it and when I showed them how to get the watchers to stand up they really get into the whole album in a new way. We have a collection of Daft Punk and Justice now ,but this comes out fairly often too. And of course, just like dad showed me how to work the stylus lock on his Sanyo player I show my kids how to use it,set the tone arm down really slow then turn on the Amp and Subwoofer and then we wind out the volume as far as I can before distortion kicks in,just like 40 years earlier when dad and I would sit and smile to the flights of imagination, trapped inside small grooves on a flat piece of back vinyl made from a musical genius craftsman who introduced me to techno. This remix is going to come home with me today and I'm going to play this EPIC and ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE remaster, that this artist who posted his work should be EXTREMELY proud of. You did a fantastic job sir! Fan-freaking-tastic indeed. I'm gonna get my dad to slap on some headphones and have him listen too. I know he'll appreciate the memories.
Wow cool story man! And thank you very much for your kind words :) Regarding the 3D effect on the cover, I think it's a coincident, I don't think Michael Granger made a stereoscopic easter egg in 1978 :)
Nice! I can relate as it was my dad that introduced me to the electronic music of Jarré and Vangelis, he loved them and i soon did too. He made me listen to Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, other styles like Bossa Nova and some more songs that i really enjoy 40 years later.
I am 57 years old and have listened to Jarre's iconic music since the late 70ies. I love his music until "The Concerts in China". I saw his full analogue Oxygene-Tour with all the original instruments here in Germany. This was so impressive. Therefore, everytime he puts out something new I try to give him a new chance. Sometimes there are one or too new tracks I like, but most of the time I am disappointed by his new and more recent work. It lacks the emotion of his first albums. Now I have just listened to your Equinoxe 4 version. OMG, if only Jarre would use remixes like yours for his live projects. Yours is fantastic and keeps up the mood of the original. Thank you for all the hard work you have put into this.
Nickolas, I so agree with you! I am very jealous of you seeing the analogue Oxygene tour; I recently discovered the video of the Oxygene studio performance with your tour's musicians and it was brilliant. I did see him live in NYC in 2017, but the Oxygene tour must have been great.
I reluctantly concur with you on this. I've been a fan of JMJ since I discovered an old cassette with Rendezvous on it as a teenager in the 90's. I've seen him Live and the show is spectacular. However I recently watched the VR Versailles Concert, and I find nothing there. Good classic tracks, but nothing that warrants anything revolutionary. Could easily have just been another one of his excellent shows without the VR/AR concept. Whilst his earlier work is packed with emotion, innovation and brilliant concepts, much of his latest work seems only to be around to achieve sales.
Loved this. I have listened to Jarre since he appeared with this track in the UK in 1976 with the Oxygene album, I started my electronic journey with the likes of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Kraftwerk, and a few others in the early 1970's. I was saddened in April 1986 when the space shuttle exploded taking away Ron McNair who was to play live from space as that would have been a masterpiece. I thing Jean Michel would enjoy this remix as he is a visionary with his music too. By the way I am almost 65 and still love Jarre, Kraftwerk et al.
@@minisynthmaniac Thank you. I had it in my head the track was Oxygene for some reason and as I am 64 I will plead memory loss as to the date of the album lol.
Michelle Jarre; Kraftwerk; Gary Numan; John Foxx; Human League; New Music etc.,etc..ushered in a new era of music and many other synth playing artists followed. From about 1977 to 1984, music was revitalised but, sadly, by 1985 the great wave had crashed and fizzled out. I suppose it was always going to happen; all great new music genres eventually lose their energy and originality as public familiarity leads to indifference or even hostility and new bands try to break with the status quo to forge their own identity. Of course, almost all artists run out of new ideas and become rather stale and even passe. But electronic music always keeps its fascination because it can create sounds that conventional instruments can't and moods and imagery that speak of future possibilities and present problems. Long live the synthesiser.

I was within a cats whisker of seeing JMJ at the Docklands concert, part of me wished I had, but pneumonia is glad I didn't. JMJ is amazing, especially this era. This remake is honestly a real homage to the master. A compliment to JMJ style and sound.
I saw him at Docklands, drove from North Wales to London, no tickets, just had to go there but actually got into the concert and saw him, then whilst in France 1987 in Paris for the storming of the bastille celebration we were there with 2 million others to witness a fantastic celebration!

I listened to this at full volume, and the Watchers were fun too, at just 7 mins though l would have liked more 👍

It brings memories from the very first time listening to this wonderful album.
Yes it has a speciel place in our brains :)
Wow. What a revelation! 👍👍 My very highest respect.
Thank you very much.
Just curious, where did you find it? I have a lot of views studently.
@@thhedk I opened TH-cam and your video was in the front row.
@@piet245 Ahh ok, that's cool ;)
I’ve been a Jarrehead since the 70s and generally steer clear of cover versions as they’re invariably poor approximations of the originals. But this, this is awesome. Well done, and keep up the good work!
Thanks! Yes there are so many bad ones, and if people really can't hear how to play it, then don't! :)
EQUINOXE 4.MY FAVORIT MUSIC.👍❤🎹
Mine too :)
ESTO SE LLAMA MEJORAR LO INMEJORABLE. GRACIAS.
A very respectable remix of a great track.
Thank you very much :)
Happy New Year 2024 Thomas!!!!

Hi again Thomas, have been having a serious look at all the TH-cam covers of this track.
Got to say it again, THIS IS the very best cover. Love this track so much your version is playing on a loop in my Range Rover every time I'm driving!!!

Keyboardist myself so talent appreciated

I love this version, even down to the little guys who pop up from behind the keyboard, so funny. 🤪 What are those little guys any way, never have been able to find out if Mr Jarré ever gave them a name?! Certainly nothing like Minions, thankfully! 👽👀🥸💯👍
Thank you so much!
They are called "Watchers" in the Jarre fan world, I don't know if Jean Michel ever called them that :)
@@thhedk Thank you “Watchers”, as soon as you said it I remembered reading about them but yeah I'm unsure whether Mr Jarré actually called them that, maybe it was the artist Granger who called them that?! 🤔
NOW I LIKE THIS !!!
we DEFINITELY want more !!
Cool thanks! :)
Great version, and I like how we can watch what's being played. :)
Especially like the drums which remind me of the old Böhmat sound.
Thanks :)
Buenos días gracias a la hna Sara por ese gran legado que deja en nuestro corazón al crear una de las más bellas congregaciónes
Jean Michel Jarre - Equinoxe P4, surprises us again with this beautiful recording and transports us through the different moments of our planet Earth and human civilization, which wants peace!!
Thank you so much :)
I wish I saw the old concerts live.
I love the way you show all keys played. Very well done .❤
Thank you.
Yes I tried to show as much as possible in the video :)
Love the music, but not to forget the 3D effect here - all the moving spectators jumping out in front of you
Thanks :)
Love what you’ve done to it . I’m a massive fan of JMJ . ❤
Dave (70 years old )😊
Cool thank you so much :)
Great job, man❣🥰 You've really nailed all sounds❣🥰 It sounds as it would be done by Jarre himself or if you had original tracks to work with. Love it❣🥰
Thanks man!
I wish I had the original tracks, and maybe not, because then I couldn't increase the BPM to what I like :)
@@thhedk Well, recently I increase bpm of my older song, which was to slow. I use audacity to increase tempo from 120 into 124 and result is very good. I'm very glad I did it. It helped the song❣🥰
@@petersamiutenki I know it's possible but not always with a great result.
Thank you so much!
And I love the way the Watcher's groove to the
beat. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍.
Holy moly, that is one hell of a Reason Rack you built there. Call me impressed.
Haha yes and it's not even faked for the video, but I don't work in 8k though, so it's more horisontal :D
Genial ThomasH
Felicidades 🥳🥳🥳
