Really enjoyed this. I'm from Ottawa and totally enjoyed seeing this city from a fresh perspective. It's a great city to live in, to visit and to love for all the right reasons. But expensive if you are eating out a lot at those type of establishments shown. There is so much more to Ottawa though. A lot of multicultural influences are shown on the grocery shelves of this city through the choice of products. The wide breadth of restaurants is truly amazing. Gatineau is just as beautiful with its own wonderful charm and joie de vivre. Merci beaucoup et plutards.
I've been to almost every major city across this beautiful country of ours and every time I come home to Ottawa I appreciate it even more. Side note for all you hockey fans the Stanley cup was created in Ottawa by Sir Frederick Arthur Stanley.
great nostalgia. I lived in Ottawa from 1973-77 and worked for LaPointe Fish in Byward Market. Great town but now all growed up. Used to go to Hull over the river to party cause Ottawa was an old grey lady then.

Try to live in Ottawa for a time and it would get you boring. However, when you leave Ottawa to another crowded city,I ensure that you would love to back to Ottawa to find everything beautiful, peaceful and amazing things that used to have before. Canadian in genarally and Ottawa people in particularly is the most kind, care and friendly in the world. Anh you want live there until your last day comes in.

I have only been to ottawa twice and both times were very brief, but looved the city. So beautiful and people we so welcoming and kind. Next fall I am going there for an internship and couldn''t be more excited to get to work with what I love, in one of my favorite countries in the world.
I’m blessed to be a 5 minute drive from the Gatineau hills. And I looooovvvveee it. I’m never leaving my beautiful oasis that’s literally in my backyard.

I was raised and lived in Ottawa but I moved away to the big city of Washington DC. I found Ottawa boring, but there's something special about the place that makes me want to live there again. Maybe it's the slower pace of life, or skating on the Rideau Canal, or going to the IKEA at Iris Street (not a lot of IKEAs here in the US) for those meatballs.
So glad I found out about you guys. Loved this video! I moved to Ottawa from Toronto almost four years and I used to hear that it was a really boring city but you just need to ask the right people! There's lots going on and the local movement is awesome too. Wish I knew you were in town!

I was completely disappointed with the fish tacos because they were very bland. The only taco that was tasty was the beef tongue. I've had better tacos at an Italian restaurant that doesn't even have them on their regular menu.

Ottawa is THE BEST city in the world. (as far as I am concerned) I have lived in Calgary for one year and in south australia for over twenty miserable years. Otherwise I lived in Ottawa for thirty-five years. Ottawa is the perfect size and one can have peace and quiet in your neighborhood and have a happy fun time in the downtown area. People are giving and loving. All around inside the city and on the outskirts there are so many beautiful places to be content in and enjoy all of life. I LOVE OTTAWA. It's my home and in my heart.
Vanier is to Ottawa what Ottawa is to Canada: underappreciated and overlooked, but way better than most people realize. I live in Vanier and it's great.
Visit Ottawa during the summer, actually, starting in May. We have all kinds of festivals, beginning in May, with the tulip festival, the Dragon boat Festival, ribfest, blues fest, the jazz festival, chamber fest (for lovers of classical chamber music), and music and beyond (for all music lovers). The only problem is that these festivals can be a bit expensive. Plan ahead. The more tickets you buy, the cheaper it gets. Buying a festival pass is also a way to go. During the late spring and summer, the son rises about 5:15 in the morning and sets around 9 PM. Nice long days. Elgin Street is now the place for nightlife. There is also Irene's Pub on Bank St., South. They always have live music, and the food is surprisingly good.

Love this video! I live in the GTA but I spent a year in Ottawa for school and I found that it's just like you say in the video- You don't really know how sweet of a city it is until you spend time there, ever since I lived there I've always wanted to return. Camera work was really nice!

Been there done that, except for some of the places the Vaga Brothers have been to such as Nordic Spa, the westside of Ottawa, and the restaurants they went to over there. Other than that, Ottawa was AMAZING!!!!
Great place for running.skating cross country skiing. Cycling boating fishing lots of museums. Art gallery is good. lots of good food a tonne of fun festivals. Greenbelt area is great for hiking. Is next to Gatineau. Sports teams are fun.lots of small theatres. 4 true seasons. Not too big or too small. Safe city.

As an Ottawa local I can second everything that was shown in this Video!!!! Nordik Spa is amazing! Also, try out some of the museums, or if you come in winter go for a skate on the largest skating rink in the world, it is about 8 kilometres long.
you should check out ottawa's night life there are raves, metal concerts, open mikes everywhere im a bit disappointed that you haven't been in chinatown . there's a big Trans karaoke night on sundays and the whole street is purely beautiful you should have done yoga on parlement hill that's also pretty cool
+vagabrothers To expand on Karine's point, you should go during Bluesfest. It's a massive musical festival in Lebreton Flats, a great location, one of the nicest in Ottawa. The whole city is electric during that time.
Yay! Great video. If you guys ever go again make sure to visit Landsdowne. They have great restauraunts and bars. Plus you can see some soccer games there!
Wooo! I’m from Ottawa and one thing I’d really recommend if you’re visiting is to go to one of our museums! If you have little kids then the Children’s museum/museum of history is the place to go! If not, then I think the art museum or the science and technology museum are really fun! If that’s not really your thing though, Jean Cartier park and city hall almost always have something going on, from culture festivals to death metal concerts to yoga classes, there’s really something for everyone.
Just recently watched this as we were in Ottawa last week-got some good ideas for our Ottawa in under 24/hrs on a budget enroute to Mont Tremblant. Stayed in the HI Jail Hostel ($65 usd. Twin room. Free WiFi, breakfast, $12 onsite parking-centrally locates). Ate at ByWard Market. Did tour of Houses of Parliament ( it’ll close for ten years beginning Sept 2018 for renovations). Thanks for actually sheding light on how great a city ottawa is. People tend to just think about politics when they think about ottawa, but there is so so much more. You get a wide culture there and there are some pretty cool places to hang out. Its also very much a student town to a degree with Ottawa U and Carleton both being there. Sick video guys!

Ottawa is improving but we still have a long way to go when it comes to having good restaurants.

Wooo! I’m from Ottawa and one thing I’d really recommend if you’re visiting is to go to one of our museums! If you have little kids then the Children’s museum/museum of history is the place to go! If not, then I think the art museum or the science and technology museum are really fun! If that’s not really your thing though, Jean Cartier park and city hall almost always have something going on, from culture festivals to death metal concerts to yoga classes, there’s really something for everyone.

Just recently watched this as we were in Ottawa last week-got some good ideas for our Ottawa in under 24/hrs on a budget enroute to Mont Tremblant. Stayed in the HI Jail Hostel ($65 usd. Twin room. Free WiFi, breakfast, $12 onsite parking-centrally locates). Ate at ByWard Market. Did tour of Houses of Parliament ( it’ll close for ten years beginning Sept 2018 for renovations). Living near ottawa is fun! and In Quebec Gatineau there is tons of sight seeing and fun stuff to do :)

Thanks for actually sheding light on how great a city ottawa is. People tend to just think about politics when they think about ottawa, but there is so so much more. You get a wide culture there and there are some pretty cool places to hang out. Its also very much a student town to a degree with Ottawa U and Carleton both being there. Sick video guys!
