The best moment in Angel is easily the final scene in the alley, "Let's go to work"
Wesley: 'Right now the three of us are all that's standing between you and real darkness.'

My favourite scene was when Cordelia and Wesley act out Angel's reunion with Buffy (taking place off-screen) for Fred. "Buffy I love you so much I almost forgot to brood!"
Wes: Kiss me

And Glenn Quinn who played Doyle from Season 1, he was brilliant
There was a show in the early 90s called Forever Knight about a vampire (Nick Knight) working towards his redemption, and his car was almost identical to Angel's.
There's a fan theory that says the car Angel jumps into and realizes it's the wrong set of wheels...that car belongs to Nick.

@@heathernks8 Yeah, I watched a few episodes when it was new, and Angel always reminds me of it. My wife has the series on DVD, so I've watched through it a few times.
A Vampire trying to earn their redemption, dressed in a leather jacket and fighting crime as a detective. It's uncanny.
The soul wasn't even mentioned I don't think, and Nick worked for the police rather than being a PI.
Angel reminded me of a mash-up of Forever Knight and Highlander.

Favourite moment has got to be when Buffy is insistent ‘i’ll never forget’ then forgets immediately.
That scene was heartbreaking...
My favourite show of all time. The writing,the characters,the production. Oh my goodness. AWESOME.
The worst moment for me was when they killed off Fred and made it clear that not only had she been replaced, but also that her soul had been destroyed in the process. Cruel, even for Whedon.
I mean it was great though, wholly emotional. Kind of wish the whole Illyria thing wouldn't have happened in the same episode, 'A Hole in the World' would've been all the stronger if it ended on that gut wrenching end scene.
Souls being destroyed was a trash plot point
@@AngelEpinoia Also was never confirmed, which is why After the Fall (which was plotted with Joss Whedon) saw Fred coming back, in a way. She eventually did entirely but I'm going to dismiss that as Whedon had absolutely nothing to do with what happened at that point.

@@TunezCottage when she came back completely in the comics that was plotted out by joss whedon. He only did the first 17 issues of after the fall so when she kinda came back there that wasn't him and was considered non cannon but when she came back in the official continuation comics that was all Joss
My favorite moment happened between Gunn and Wes while in Pylea. They were in the stocks about to be killed and Gunn is like I have a plan. Wes is like Thank God, what is it? Gunn says We both die, you go to Hell and I live forever in the arms of baby Jesus. Gah!! I don’t know why I love it so much. But it tickles me every time. ❤❤❤

My favorite moment in Angel... wow, what a tough question. I think to me it's when Wesley asks Illyria to lie to him, in the finale. It's just beautiful, always makes me cry. But to be fair, there are a lot of those moments in Angel.

I think its when Westly breaks down in Shells; when Gunn is still hoping she could be saved and Westley explains how he felts her go. It's beautiful and incredibly heartbreaking.
Yup, that moment will stay with me forever, I have never forgotten it, it absolutely ruined me when watching it at the time....
Favourite episode will forever remain the Puppet Demons; It explained so much about "Kids TV" :P

1) Illyria disguise as Fred
2) Spike and Angel on Rome fighting more for Buffy than the Capo
3) The final shot of Spike, Gunn, Angel and Illyria
4) You're a Bloody Puppet!

darla's pregnancy & "birth". always thought Julie Benz was short-shifted as an actress. she's done far more than was written for her in every project. this episode made me really see her possibilities... and the pathos of spiking herself...
So they canceled the second best show on the station because one of them tried to get season 6 green lit a little early? WTF, how do idiots end up in charge at these studios?
I preferred Angel over Buffy, bar none.
This show was my favorite of all time. I watched all of Buffy and Angel and always felt Angel was the better show.
Favourite Angel moment, hmmm. Probably when Wesley breaks the jar holding the spell together, Connor suddenly becomes vicious and Wesley remembers his betrayal.
I'm so glad season 5 fixed Connor, I hated like every second he was on screen until they wiped his memories.
@@osirisatot19 I hear ya, the way they built up Connor's arrival and then make him a whiny ungrateful teen. I'll allow them some slack, they get so many character arcs right

@@KingSadim I was fine with him being whiny. Angel is broody, it fit the dynamic. My issue was the creepy Cordelia stuff with him which was clearly done to tank the Cordy character.

No me. They were great as a pair. I thought it was too forced that they were falling for each other.
@@maximusprime3459 It was a mature love. We saw Cordelia go from a vapid airhead to a responsible maternal figure. Angel let go of his past sins and went from an angsty teen to a generous patriarch. They could have kept growing towards each other
Ok. I still didnt like it. I'd rather have seen Angel with anybody but Cordelia, but they did work really well as close friends.
I wonder what would have happened with Charisma's character, Cordelia, if Joss wasn't such a piece of shit human being. She spoke out several times about the way Joss acted during the filming of Buffy and Angel, but nobody wanted to hear it at the time.
I think that Joss, being an abusive asshole, especially towards Charisma, was more of the reason why her character was written off of the show rather than her pregnancy. I know that one of their biggest fights was over her pregnancy, but it was just one of the many times that he mistreated her.
I dnt get what woulda been the point he couldn't be with Buffy cause he couldn't be happy and give her a family ( his words ) so how could he have been with Cordelia ? Wouldn't he have the same problem Losing his soul ? I never understood that and wouldn't that be the same issue at the end of Buffy when he was tryna get back together with her ? Or even in the finale season of Angel when he said he was waiting for Buffy to be ready for them to be together ...what changed ? Did they do a spell for him to permanently keep his soul now ? If not then this is just stupid
Wolfram & Hart's files & records clerk is Flo from the Progressive commercials. She only appears for a few seconds in one episode.
My fav was when Loren's head was in a basket. Then spoke scaring Angel, and Gunn. While Fred just stood there with a smile.
18:55 I think Buffy would’ve been epic to show up for the final episode of Buffy the same way Angel showed up a few episodes before the ending of Buffy. Would’ve been a better end that both characters.
I watched the first season when it aired after Buffy but then fell off. I didn't watch the series in full until years later. I am glad I waiting though. I was in middle and high school when Buffy was airing. Angel dealt with a lot themes that I was simply too young to understand or appreciate during its on air run. If you pretend that whole Connor thing didn't happen I think the show was incredible. Favorite moment is tough. Smile Time is my favorite episode (you're a bloody puppet!!). Favorite moment I would have to say when Cordelia come to Angel after she has died, but he doesn't know yet and her last line is "oh and you're welcome" make me tear up every time.

When they drove through the portal to Pylea you could easily see it was just some similar cheap Belvedere with the roof sawed off.

Always, always, ALWAYS wondered why Whistler wasn’t in Angel. As much as I love Glenn Quinn (and his character, Doyle), I think they should’ve brought Whistler in. They could’ve had both, or had Whistler come in with Wes. I was guessing Max Perlich had possibly turned it down, but, if they called him then never called back, that’s clearly not the case.
Whistler would have made more sense, but I loved Doyle so much. Glenn and David were friends IRL and you could tell in the way they bounced off each other. I hated that they killed off Doyle - and it was made even worse when Glenn died.

As a huge fan of BTVS I've always loved "Angel" too, but the its demise started with ruining Cordelia's character and her eventual death. They brought Spike for season 5 to try to save the show , but it was never the same especially after Fred's death.
Fred's death was something that was written after they knew it would end though. I think season 5 is the best season; though they did do Cordelia's character dirty and Joss is a dick for what he did to the character and the actress.
@@osirisatot19 No, Fred was always going to be body shared by Illyira. Te original plan was to just have the split personality thing get revealed by the end of S5.

I've seen the director's commentary enough times to know that.
Love angel
The saddest thing is season 5 was by far the best season (mainly because of spike)and was such huge increase in quality and really really made me look forward to the next season only for them to ruin my excitement by cancelling it.
I don't think it was just Spike, though him and Angel's relationship was a lot of fun. I think they fixed all the problems of the previous seasons and just really focused on themes and character writing.
I am a fan of Angel but I learned a lot here.
I still like Room with a View. When Cordelia gets in touch with her "Inner Bitch." Geat character moment.
I liked it. Until they never really follow up on it. Like Cordelia acknowledges how horrible she was and then basically all of her sins are forgivven after this episode. She ran a girl over with her car and never expressed remorse. Doesn't even bring it up in this episode and that's a pretty big thing.

Joss Whedon's a real prick. So, him being the reason for the show's cancellation doesn't surprise or bother me all that much anymore.
Speaking of inspiration, this show was one of the main reasons why I started writing. Now, I don't do it that much anymore.
Here are another few facts: Nathan Fillion originally auditioned for the character Angel before it was handed over to David Boreanaz and David Boreanaz was originally offered the role of Batman in 'The Dark Knight' trilogy series, but turned it down due to his commitment to 'Angel'. Funny, considering the fact that 'Angel' is somewhat Batman-esque.
This show holds up so well. It’s doesn’t date.

I love reading comments here, sometimes i feel like i'm the only person evee to prefer it to buffy and then i see a bunch of other people here loving the show as much as me. Sending hugs to you all ❤ oh and I had no idea they had time to rewrite S5 after being canceled, the end is probably the best ever and very fitting to the show, I'm vlad it was not filmed before being canceled and it was their desicion to end it like that.

Not for South Park, Doctor Who, Breaking Bad; or quite a few others. You're right that it is how most shows are written though.

I am an enthusiastic fan of the Buffyverse. About 25% of what I read, and I read a lot for entertainment, is Buffy/Angel fan fiction. I am sorry, but this video could not hold my attention. I don't know if it was the writing or the narrator but it needs redoing.
I agree with you! The clips should fit the purpose of the subect, just not be random clips. Also, one point that got my attention, it says that Cordelia was pregnant 3 times... i only remember 2 times... would have been nice they told us not just a typo on the screen.... That video was really hard to follow!

While Lorn turned out to be a huge let down, and sadly Andy passed, but my favorite moments were small ones like him being in the limo 1st, ready to roll with Wolfram & Harts' offer.
The best moment, despite being the very last, was Angel saying he wanted to slay the dragon, that luckily he befriends in the comics continuation.
Really wish Vast had more of a musical presence apart from the awesome teaser. CW did this later with Smallville using Song Yet To Be Sung to promote that trash show and they went went with the ultra craptastic Save Me.
Also Angel proved to me that irish people do the worst Irish accents in American media. Legit they sound like jackasses purposely trying to butcher the Irish accent.
Linsey was great, really wish he'd never tried to turn on Angel, would have been a great addition to the team, him and Spike could team up and bash on Angel.
Connor was wasted and the moment they lost that plot was Connor not calming down when Angel vamped out since that was the only way he could get baby Connor to stop crying. That could have been a great moment.
Puppet Angel is the only merch I own and I hate puppets.
They got the casting wrong with Connor. He was just creepy. I feel like they were going for a Jared Leto, and missed the mark.
Same with Dawn in BtVS - she was just whiny and annoying. Which is weird because otherwise the shows had amazing casting.

Let's not also forget Angel also lost his soul from a spell that made him think he was having sex with Cordelia. Still the best romance in the Buffyverse imo. Sad it had such a tragic ending

Don't really get this channels videos. A video like this would be for a fan of the show but they run down info as if it was for someone who's never seen the show before. Its like a mix of info for a big fan whos seen every episode and for people who haven't seen any and it would frustrate anyone with the info they don't need.

5:55- This is why Angel was better than Buffy. Whereas Buffy’s morales and standards would constantly change and contradict, Angel stayed true and loyal to the mission throughout.
I mostly agree, but like half of season 2 of Angel is him being dumb and going off mission despite everyone trying to stop him.
eh... We have like 3 seasons where he completely redefines the morales of his mission and even ends S4 by working with Wolfram and Hart, all for personal benefit.
Why does anyone care about any of this??
I cannot really say why people care. I'll admit that Scifi fans can be (myself included) a peculiar lot, but then so are the people who obsess about 60-70 year old muscle cars. I would note, however, that there are no conventions for the fans of police procedurals. 😀
