    There's a lot of variables in this, depends on boost level, depends on other mods also, and always a supercharger will sound better than a turbo because you kill the exhaust in a turbo system.

    That's a huge cost increase. Now I can see why it makes sense to just get the forced induction done from the factory. ZL1 Camaro with a pulley intake and exhaust. Newer M5 gets close to 700 whp with a tune. 4.0 AMGs with a tune. This upgrade path just doesn't make sense but to each their own.

    • @branchtana315
      @branchtana315 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There are plenty of cars where an aftermarket SC/turbo does make financial sense, just not this one currently. C8 kits are just insanely expensive right now since the both the vehicle platform and the kits themselves are pretty new to the market. Plus they'll sell a lot fewer kits for the C8 than they will for many other vehicle platforms, which also keeps the prices much higher. $7k-$8k will buy you a nice SC/Turbo kit for most other more common platforms that have been around for a while.

    • @TurboNFRStwoK
      @TurboNFRStwoK ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Where it starts to make sense is the fact that now that the c8 is a couple years old you can get a brand new one for close to MSRP. I’ve seen them as cheap as 69k. So for 10-12k less than the price of a Z06, You can get a c8 that makes at the wheels what a Z06 does at the crank. The story is still the same with the other cars you mentioned but let’s be honest. No one is cross shopping a rear engine supercar with a front engine sedan or sports coupe.

    my first boosted vehicle was a mustang that i supercharged with a centrifugal supercharger, My second vehicle was a turbo Eagle talon, I upgraded the turbo to a hybrid 50 trim. After owning both forms of boost I never went back to a super charger, the upgrade ability and performance potential of a turbo is far superior to a belt driven supercharger and requires less maintenance, also you have to worry about a belt with a supercharger.

    • @RunEmDownTony
      @RunEmDownTony ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Turbos are for folks who think about speed and being fast, and want too be the most powerful. I could care less about being fast or the most powerful as I'm not out here racing people, trying to put down track times or trying to be the most powerful. Every configuration has it's ups and downs. For me personally it's all about the drive. I prefer power where needed when needed. When I put my foot down I expect the instant rush of torque too shoot me in that gap I'm trying to get in when merging, which is why I prefer a positive displacement supercharger. There's no wrong answer it's all about what you prefer and what you are trying to achieve. Centrifugal superchargers are great for cars who already have plenty of grunt down low as they focus on higher engine speed power. Sometimes too much torque down low is wasted just because all your gonna get is wheel spin. Turbos are more efficient no doubt and they give you the most, but you have to wait on it albeit not long especially for smaller Turbos, but generally they are more complex as there are more parts involved. But again no wrong answer here let's just appreciate that we have a variety of force induction too choose from or else everyone would be driving around with Turbos under their hood, and no one would standout, be unique.

    For daily driving I would be happy to give up the mid range for the response. Having built both for on road and off road, the re-spool delay from having to let off the throttle and then get back into it can be very upsetting. With a supercharger I know what I'm getting when I hit the throttle, instead of a lag and a surge that can be hard to manage.

      @@stevesamuel263 exactly if you are going for that hp you expecting to pay a bit, these are more getting extra hp but also keeping it near what it was. 7300$ price diff between kit and labour which probably extra 2 days to do turbo kit vs super, probaly seeing a good 8-8.5k more expensive to go turbo.

    Haven't listen to the video yet, but I'm almost going to guarantee TwinTurbo's are going to make more power. However, a pro charger is super charger. It's probably still going to produce quite a bit of power probably be cheaper and much easier to install but at the end of the day, it's how big is your pocket and what do you want, if you were just wanting to add power, neither is probably a bad choice

    Only issue with the TT twins system are those filters are down low in an area that would suck up water, so it is living where it rains off an on 7 months a year like the entire middle of the country, or coastal states.

    Root style and centrifugal over twin turbos. Turbos require more maintenance over time. Root vs centrifugal, centrifugal because it runs way cooler and i love how the power is liner/ less stress on the car. Root styles make more torque but there are consequences to that. It all depends on what you want. If you want to make all the power in the world, get turbos. If you want to crash your car doing a 1st gear pull, root style. If you want your car to sound like a fighter jet going down sunset blvd, centrifugal with straight cut gears and get a pro flow bov...trust me.

    The turbo kit's air intakes are down by the exhaust? That's only for a daily driver where it never rains.

    • @Dayandcounting

      I drove my RX-7 with a scoot hood, huge gills and a scope with no rain gutter in Florida. It's a sealed duct direct the filter, doesn't even drains. Rain isn't going to hurt a turbo car, intake temps get way too hot. Even under hood electrical stuff is designed to tolerate fresh water exposure. Drove the car like that for years, not even with covered parking, never had issue.

    if cost wasnt a factor, turbos are clearly superior, both in terms of efficiency and tuning ability. whereas a supercharger pulley actually robs the engine of power before it adds it, which is another reason why the fuel economy is typically worse hp vs hp
