    I just got this game from Target a week ago for under $20. I usually wait for the newer version to come out and Target will drop the price on the older version to clear them out.

    The manual does state that the exclamation point is resolved once per die.

      Haha, thank you! I finally saw where it clarified it, it's right there in the box with the die faces!

    Ambiguity is the name of the game when it comes to Horrified rules. With that, I own every iteration. 🤣

    Just got this yesterday. Looking forward to playing this weekend. Loved American Monsters, hoping this is as fun

      It feels like "more of the same", which is a good thing. I'm OK with differently themed boxes instead of expansions for the existing themes. Helps keep it fresh, in my eyes anyway. I'm curious about the player count you're going to be playing with (or at least hand count if you're by yourself). I don't know if it's my imagination or not, but it feels like five players would be insanely difficult, and have a lot more Share/Guide actions going on. I guess they've made three of these using the same system so it must be working fine. :)

    Not using that perk card in the last 10 mins or so had me yelling at the screen. Lmao!

    where did you get a digital version of the rulebook?

      I didn't - I scanned it myself because I can't find it anywhere. Right now it's 7AM six days after this video and I'm still on the hunt. This morning I noticed they finally added the game to the Ravensburger.us website, so there is some movement... but still no link to a PDF.

    CERBERUS At the revealed Underworld Door lair location, discard a BLUE item to do the following,
    in order:
    A. Roll 3 dice.
    B. (Optional, once per Advance action
    4
    ) Discard a GREEN item to earn as many
    rerolls as that item’s strength. Each reroll may be used to reroll any number of
    dice.
    5
    C. If the dice match the symbols on any of the 5 Door Tokens, you may remove 1 of
    the matching Door Tokens.
    When all 5 Door Tokens have been removed, Cerberus can be defeated.
    NOTE: You cannot remove more than one token per Advance action. This includes the
    tokens that only show 1 or 2 symbols.

    Thanks for sharing the playthrough. I was really curious to see how this plays differently (if at all) from the other Horrified games. There are definitely differences, but ultimately the core game is still the same. I do enjoy all the different mini-games to defeat each monster, though. And the symbols will definitely help encourage the homebrew developers to easily incorporate their own beasts to add to the game. One thing about the very end turn: You overlooked the "share" action since you were in the same space as the second character who I believe had a green token (it was hard to distinguish the green and blue on the video). It is unfortunate that the game has some ambiguous statements on different conditions. The defeat situation for Ceberus says "when it is at the open door, it is defeated." But it is inside an action statement so it does make it difficult to determine whether you must do a wasted action if Ceberus is already there. But all other creatures require an action for defeat, so it makes sense. Anyway, happy you got the win. Losing cards to Ceberus is a pretty awful consequence! I can't imagine surviving a 3-monster game with that happening regularly.

      I haven't played American Monsters but I am now curious to have a go at it to see if it has the same "clarification issues". I don't remember the puzzles from the original, but I don't recall thinking any were "bad". The Minotaur in Greek Monsters seems "not great" because either you've memorized what it looks like and it's easy, or have no idea what the labyrinth looks like so it could take extra turns.
      You're right about Cerberus, and it occurred to me that a good player (not I) would know to take Cerberus out FIRST instead of an easier monster.
      Thank you!

    Is there a rule that says you can only reroll a die one time? If not, I think the reroll for Cerbeus allows you to roll that one die you need a number of times equal to the item strength.

    • @CeePhour
      @CeePhour  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The text on the Cerberus monster card says:
      "At that location, discard (blue item) to roll three dice. You may discard (green item) to reroll several dice up to the Item's Strength."
      My best guess is that you can, one time only, buy a single reroll for one, two, or three of the dice.

      @@CeePhour I definitely agree that it is poorly written. But you only have 3 dice, and several would indicate more than three. I would still rule it in favor of rolling the same die multiple times. As long as the total number of reroll is not more than the items strength. Again, if the rulebook doesn't state that each die can only be refilled once, then I don't see why you handicap yourself like that.

    • @CeePhour
      @CeePhour  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My guess would be for the low value items - the 1's and 2's. If you NEED to reroll 2 but only have a 1 you're still in trouble. Or if you blew your only blue on a bad roll and wanted to reroll all 3 but only had a 1 or 2. I haven no insight as to what their intent is because it is so poorly worded. Hopefully Ravensburger puts out a FAQ or revised rule book one day.

      Coming here to comment the same thing 😆. Discard a green item and you have rerolls up to its strength. You could roll a single die multiple times if needed.

      @@CeePhourI interpret it the same way you do. It doesn't say "re-roll several times" it says "re-roll several dice". That implies you can use green to do a one time re-roll of your dice. And the number of dice you re-roll is based on the power that you play. Also, the green chips are ALL 1, 2, or 3 in power also leaning toward that being the correct interpretation.
