It is nice to have a 21st century recording of this piece.
I FOUND THIS PIECE FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS!!
CONGRATULATIONS FROM MEXICO
My family grew up hearing "Hora Staccato" on an RCA album called 60 Years of Music America Loves Best. Tonight, watching the second Seder Passover service from the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue (NYC), I think the cantor played this tune or something like it on the piano near the end. So I decided to look for a different version of the tune here on TH-cam, and here you are! Happy Passover!
Very good! Nice rendition of Dinicu's composition! Congrats! And thank you!
I keep coming back to replay this video... must be because I love this performance!
wonderful performance!! the staccato is very articulated, both upbow and downbow!
Splendida interprete del capolavoro romeno HORA STACCATO (1906) di Grigoraș Dinicu!
Hey, that's some darn good bow control! Wish my downbow staccato were up to par like that.
Fantastic musical performance !
Sooo clean! Amazing!!!
Honestly, the best rendition of this piece I’ve heard, other than Heifetz’s.
Lmao “other than Heifetz”
Listen to Ning Feng

Superb!Bravoooo!
Omgosh, I saw her today
Wow bravo!
Brilliant Elizabeth, just brilliant ! Bravo !
Meraviglioso
Hello from Michigan!! Hi it's Chris. You are an angel. You are continually amazing.
Bravo, Awesome
This is a good performance. Here are my youtube favorites of this piece; Look up "Horror Staccato", Michael Rabin, Fiodor Rudin, Grigoras Dinicu himself, Heifetz...the list goes on.
Grigoraș Dinicu from Romania is original !👍👍💯🔥
Niceeeee amazinnnggg good video!
She plays beautiful
her staccato is phenomenal
brava!!!!! very very good!.. :))
Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Some of you are truly talking utter rubbish. What gives anyone the authority to say how a certain piece should be played? Is there no room for interpretation? If thats the case, then only one person should ever play a particular song, the composer. My belief is that each composition is open to interpretation by the performer, and that is one of the greatest assets of music.
❤
Excellent
amazing staccato :)
La beauté et la virtuosité réunis j aime
I used to play some of this on the guitar.
Wow you are perfect!
Nice performance... I mean a great performance!!!
frumos
Good job Liz! Hi from Ilmar
Grigoras Dinicu ftw !!
Very nice! * CLAP CLAP*
Fabulous!!!! Fabulous !!! Did I mention it is fabulous!!!!
I am from that country
There´s a very similar called Hora Zapato. Have you heard it? It´s full of stacatto, up and
down bow.
Composer ??
@@victoriaursu2792 never heard of it! There is one rendition of a peace with the challenging sideways stickatto.
@oneoctavelow Do you consider Heifetz to be a westerner? He was the one who put in the upbow/downbow staccatos.
One day I'll get my Staccato up to an acceptable level as to be able to play this...
One day...
HELP NEEDED ...On BOW HAIR Tightness Variables... For Playing A) Staccato, B) Vibrato Andante Tranquillo pieces etc.
Please Help US.
My Piano Favourites its not like that. it comes down to the performers preference, and the bow (maybe even strings and the violin itself) it takes time to find your own place of comfort. there is no set tightness.
Musical Fox
Solid slur staccato. Down bow and up bow.
Nice ملكة
Wow, amazing. I turned away and closed my eyes and thought I was hearing Heifetz himself. Great job!! :D
You mean Grigoraș Dinicu himself! Otherwise everyone can be himself!
Love that gypsy music!
It is not gypsy music. It's Romanian music, and that has nothing to do with gypsies (or Roma people, name that makes many confuse the two ).
@@florentinaboca8239 I had a girl from Romania say if my family came from the Carpathian Mountains, we were most likely gypsies.
I'm Romanian too, but I wouldn't say that.Gypsies are and always were a minority. So if your family came from the Carpathian Mountains, it was more likely they were Romanians, not gypsies I would say.
Anyway, glad you appreciate the music !
@@florentinaboca8239 We really don't know what our nationality is since the area was in the midst of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (Franz Joseph) confusion - for a long time my parents said Ukranian on both sides of he family but no one knew for sure because the grandparents who lived there were now dead, but a cousin did the family tree research in Utah and came to the conclusion that my dad's side was Rus or Rys. Last name was Huzak on grandparents documents that was Americanized to Hoosac. Frankly, I'd love to tell people I was gypsy!
Better than others I have heard, including Heifetz's. Better to play slower with clear notes as in this video.
@Spider21056 that out of tune note is deliberately played. It's supposed to be there.
I like this version. And Elizabeth is a cutey.
@SpeedyNeutrino43 LOL if you want to see how this piece should be played, just type in "Horror Staccato". You will be amazed!
someone can help me on how to get my staccato faster =( ?
Practice 40 hours a day!
Check out Anne Fontanella and give us an expert review of HER talents.
very nice, but i just heard that young fellow rudin, and after him this pace seems a bit slow, but hey if you can play it at all, its an accomplishment.
Watch 'Hora Staccato' (composed by Bulgarian Pancho Vladigerov; and after whom the Bulgarian National State Academy of Music in Sofia was named) for 2 pianos; performed by piano duet 'Va i Ve' (Valentina Seferinova & Venera Bojkova) at The International Rachmaninoff Society's AGM 2009 in Manchester UK
Search Valentina Seferinova
Usually, violinists and cellists will "flatten out" their bow hand fingers to accomplish the staccato, she didn't have to!
petru romania ELIZABETH ilawe
She is very good ,but ,listen to the Master Heifetz,AND the down bow Staccatos!!!
PS. listen to the one that has at least 447,000 hits as this has the best sound!

I'm struck by the thought that all who criticize her playing should, in a manner of speaking, put their money where their mouth is. It's simple.....produce a video of you playing this piece better than Elizabeth and post it on TH-cam. I have a feeling that I'll have a long wait to see/hear your magnum opus. get busy.
watch Advahov - Hora staccato
It's not by heifetz...
It's by Grigoraş Dinicu
This could be the best version of the piece: th-cam.com/video/W0yYBrN1Kow/w-d-xo.html
I think that all picky critics of any given musical performance should post their own videos playing, in this case, "Hora Staccato." It's a version of "put your money where your mouth is".
@FlierFrank172 Look everyone has a right to music - my statement is not political. What I am saying is that she plays the piece with a 'western accent' and to a Romanian it sounds unconvincing. I don't mean to sound imodest but since you're pressing the point I probably play it better than her myself... its really no big deal, its all in the trills. Have a listen to G. Dinicu here on the tube. Listen to it, you may understand why Heifetz once regarded Dinicu as the greatest he has heard.
Envidia podrida... quien pudiese "atacar" asi el violín...
well, to be fair to heifetz, those are written as down bow staccatos, which are more difficult, so doing them upbow is a liiiittle bit of cheating... but I do like the effect here.
why don't you upload a video of yourself playing it and show how it's done... didn't think so...
Oh the "experts" out there who think they can play better than Elizabeth. Are you sure you're not criticizing her, cause he's a woman? And yes, I never met this gal but come on, she gives a solid performance of Hora Staccato
@eserebcin if were not like that music would be played by robots and not by humans!
This is easier if a liberal amount of pine tar or hair spray is applied to bow hares
Its not bad considering its played by a Westerner. But as with all westerners she really misses the point. In his recording Dinicu doesn't even play up or down bow staccato he plays spiccato. The staccato / spicato is quite irrelevant. What is relevant but overlooked is the 'feel' of it s 'Romanianess' and that my friends is something that the Western violinist cannot readily do.The westerner treats the trills in the piece as ornaments whereas the Romanian fiddler treats them as building blocks.
Go to deliver pizza!
well, she really cant do it in time can she?
but, then again shes about as good as anybody
except heifetz
Except Dinicu! Cannot explain in words. Must hear him.
Does my ear cheat me or at least one of that piano's keys is a little bit out of tune... and that causes the girl to play the violin out of tune as well, occasionally?...
The tempo is too slow. This is a "hora", a Romanian folk dance with a devilish rhythm.
A little straight, a little concrete, a little dry, even American in its accent. Compare a number of other elegant, suave Euro-groovers. . .
Not good!!
Reevu Adhikary you bitch ain't gonna insult my country
Very slow staccato!!!!
I would expect her to play the piece as was intended by Dinicu, IF it was faster.... but I agree with you, it's an alright tempo (maybe just a tad faster would have been perfect)
very slow
not really good! she has problems in tempo and bowing techniques.
She needs to give up public appearances and go back to woodshedding. She is clumsy in so many parts, and even plods along in the rest.
Sorry but no. That is at most a show of. The spirit of the composition has nothing to do with this. A humble opinion only.
Awful!
