    2011 Honda Pilot

Did he just remove the rear cat and put the old one back on???

I just replaced mine following this video, but I could not get the cat out the same way as in the video. I had to remove heat shield on cat while it is laying between CV shaft and tie rod. Removing heat shield for rack and pinion boot also helps. Removing air fuel mixture sensor on top first will also help with maneuver. If you have oxygen sensor wrench, it is easy to remove and install with cat installed on the engine. Honda's service manual says intermediate shaft from transmission to left axle needs to be removed, which also requires removing CV axle and ball joint. I did not want to go that far, but this video encouraged me to try different route.

I was wondering if anyone removed the rear engine mount through the same hole after removing the rear converter. Shop manual says to remove the exhaust pipe and rear cat just like this video. But then they say to remove the axle and intermediate shaft. Trying to save steps, especially the axle removal.

2011 Odyssey (same engine) Bank 1 (rear) 4 cat bolts advice. Driver side are extremely hard to access, I got them from the top with 3/8” extended swivel ratchet (14” harbor freight) and deep 12mm socket. My wife ratcheted from the top while I kept pressure from below but not certain this is needed. Passenger side aren’t as hard, I assume you could do in the same way but I was able to access from the wheel well with Ryobi cordless extended 3/8” ratchet.

Folks, this is the cat at rear of engine (bank 1), not the downstream cat on the pipe.

If you look at time 16:19 to 16:28, you will see the new cat he is showing does NOT have the mounting points for the heatshield to the catalytic converter like the original. The heat shield is needed.

I have a check engine light for bank 1 that goes away, especially when i use Cataclean and will run great for long periods of time. My light has recently come back on and show Bank 1 sensor. I'm gonna try replacing the sensors for now, but i'm afraid i'm gonna need a new catalytic converter eventually but can't seem to find any. Hondapartsnow, Rockauto, none of them seem to carry CARB legal cats. So where the hell am I supposed to buy a replacement?? All the ones on. eBay and Amazon are not CA/CARB legal. What is so different from CARB and non-CARB converters that makes them so much more expensive???

Huge crack on lower J pipe 7:23. Tons of other leaks evident from this failed pipe. Should have replaced it as well. Or made mention.
