In 1990's there were few private buses travelling via Balebare(Hulikal) ghat. Gajanana and Hanuman Transport buses used to travel from Mangaluru/Udupi to Shivamogga, Sagara, Jog and one bus to Ballari (Bellary). Road conditions were horrible with huge pot holes and very narrow those days, with branches of tree brushing buses at few places in the ghat section. Shri Chandikamba Temple was small on the roadside. During rainy season entire Balebare ghat was covered with thick fog and roads were not visible even few metres. At many places water falls were on the road side. When Sharavathi river bridge near Honnavara (Now NH-66,then NH-17) was closed for repairs during 1990-1992, KSRTC (Govt) buses coming from Dharwad/Hubballi to Udupi/Mangaluru were allowed to use Hulikal ghat. It was thrilling experience.
Excellent Video, Hulikal ghat Drive was Superb, Very nice recording with Names of small Villages in between, Thanks for all your efforts to entertain us. God bless you❤
Which is best day time bus now to travel Belagavi - Bengaluru and Bengaluru - Belagavi (even from Hubli will do but will have to enter Hubli for it) complete day journey with minimum stops and less time? One Airavat is there 8am Belagavi departure but it enters Dharwad, Hubli, Davangere and Chitradurga :( Any which do not enter any places midway ( halt besides the highway for loo/lunch/dinner/breakfast/tea is ok).
What do drivers feel about driving leyland, BB and tata? There should be huge difference in leyland pick up and power compared to other two right. Do ask what drivers feel about chasis
