The Rani Chennamma Express is a train connecting the cities of Bengaluru and Miraj City,a medical hub in southern Maharashtra, India.
Rani Chennamma Express is a daily train maintained by South Western Railway, Bangalore division which covers a distance of 749 kilometres (465 miles) between SBC & MRJ.
Rani Chennamma Express previously ran as Kittur Express during meter gauge days.
The train is well known as the Queen of the South Western Railways.
The Rani Chennamma Express travels overnight to Hubballi-Dharwad, Gokak, and Belagavi from KSR Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka. Rani Chennamma Express is the fastest overnight train between Bangalore & Hubballi-Dharwad. It leaves Bengaluru at 23:00 and reaches Hubballi by 6:00 am and Miraj by 12:10 the following day. The train leaves Miraj at 15:35 pm, and reaches Bengaluru at 06:15 am the following day.
In addition to connecting the major cities of Maharashtra and Karnataka with Miraj, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi, Ranebennur, Haveri, Davangere, Kadur, Tiptur, and Tumkuru with Bengaluru.
The train serves the smaller towns of Alnavar, Khanapur, Gokak, Ghatprabha, Chinchli, Kudchi, and Raybag to Medical City, Miraj Jn.
Rani Chennamma Express is South India's second-busiest train, after the Chennai Egmore-Mangalore Central Express.
As the entire route is undergoing electrification it is hauled by Krishnarajpuram-based WDP-4D on its entire journey.
The train is named after Rani (Queen) Chennamma who ruled Northern Karnataka during the early 19th century and is known for her freedom struggle to free her province from British rule.
Rani Chennamma's capital was at Kittur in Belagavi district.
Rani Chennamma express Express origination from Miraj Junction traces Miraj's Historical as well as Medical significance since 1950 due to which people from major parts of Karnataka & Maharashtra visit Miraj.
Miraj Junction railway station [MRJ] is a major important busiest junction railway station in the city of Miraj, Maharashtra.The Pune - Yeshwantpur railway line passes through Miraj where it meets the Miraj - Kolhapur Branch line. The Miraj - Nagpur section starts at Miraj and passes through towns such as Pandharpur, Kurduvadi, Barshi, Latur, Parli Vaijnath and Osmanabad. Also it is major Junction on Mumbai - Miraj - Bangalore line and Miraj- Nagpur line (via Kurduvadi, Osmanabad, Purna and Nanded.
Rani Chennamma express from Miraj junction railway station to Bangalore City railway station is one of the most prestigious trains of the South Western Railway. The train covers an average distance of 749 km operating on a daily basis. This train also ran from Bengaluru to Miraj Junction as Kittur Express during Meter gauge Era.
Rani Chennamma express is commonly referred to as the 'Queen of South Western Railways' with train number 16589/90.
Before 1994, Miraj had a unique combination of three different gauges:
Miraj-Pune and Miraj-Kolhapur, both with broad gauge lines,
Miraj-Bangalore meter gauge line,
Miraj-Pandharpur-Latur narrow gauge line.
By 2008, the entire Latur-Miraj section was converted from narrow gauge to broad gauge linking Miraj with Solapur and beyond. After gauge conversion completed, Miraj have only broad gauge lines.
Miraj had Steam loco shed in past near current Miraj- Bangalore line . Locomotives of Miraj loco shed was played up to Dharmawaram.After steam Locomotives was discontinued from service in 90's decade, Miraj loco shed was permanently closed. Trains like Bangalore Mail, Poona Mail, Kittur Express, Mandovi MG Express, Gomantak MG Express, Goa Express and Koyna Express once originated From Miraj Junction.
All DEMU trains of Miraj-Kolhapur,Miraj-Pune,Miraj-Parali,Miraj-Satara and Miraj-Kurduwadi routs are maintained here.
Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna (Bengaluru Station), commonly known as KSR Bengaluru Station, Bengaluru City Railway Station or Bangalore City Railway Station ( Majestic Railway station ) (station code: SBC) is the main railway station serving the city of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. It is the busiest railway station in South Western Railway zone of Indian Railways, and is the only station classified under NSG1 category in the zone.
It is located across the Kempegowda Bus Station. The station has 10 platforms and three entrances.
The important trains originating and passing from Bangalore city station are KSR Bengaluru Mail, Kacheguda-Mysuru Express, Karnataka Express, Bangalore Miraj Rani Chennamma Express, Island Express, Chennai Shatabdi Express, Rajdhani Express, Lal Bagh Express, Chennai-Mysuru Vande Bharat Express, Brindavan Express and Wodeyar Express, Humsafar Express, Duronto Express.
The sound is so clear. No wind noise; the sound quality specially over 8:12 at the bridge is superb.
Rani Chennamma Express should start from Kolhapur as before, as it was earlier

How many halts this train has between MRJ to SBC ? Because this train looks like a passenger train halting at stations every 15-20-30 minutes, though it may be a famous train on this route & what is the Min./Max.speed of this train ? I think DDR - UBL/ LTT - UBL had less halts even post MRJ till UBL than this train.
👍Yes, Because It Is Only One Train To Connect Bengaluru So, Many Halts Till Belagavi. After Belagavi It Has Normal Halts. But It's Not The Passenger Train. It Is Double Super Fast Express Of This MRJ - UBL Route And The Fastest Train Between Hubballi - KSR Bengaluru Which Connects Destination In Less Time To Reach Even Though It Has So Many Halts 😌❤️ That's Why It Is My Favourite Train 16590 /Rani Chennamma Express ❤️ So It Is Known As SWR Queen 👑 Rani Chennamma Express ❤️🥰
