    As a Lightning fan, I just wanted to give credit to that Leafs team man. Never caved in, I really think the additions of ROR and Schenn were brilliant. The hockey gods seem to finally be on their side for a change. On the other hand nobody feels bad for us but it’s been a while since us Lightning fans have felt this terrible. 4 years dating back to the CBJ series tbh. It’s such a shitty feeling and if this is it, it’s been a hell of a 4 year run.

    The unsung hero of this game is Knies for pulling the puck off the goal line. The kid is made a huge impact on this team and seems like the real deal. They need to go with lineup even after Bunting comes back, he is still too much of a liability especially when you have TB on the ropes. Perry, Maroon and company will be out for blood the rest of the series, so its going to be a war from here on out.

Personally, I've never seen the Toronto Maple Leafs shit on a team like that. Let alone Tampa, in Tampa. It almost doesn't seem real. I'm still not counting Tampa out, you just simply can't. This Maple Leafs team looks and feels different. Any of the previous Maple Leafs teams during this playoff series win drought would have gave up being down by 3 entering the 3rd period, but the last 2 games, they have shown tremendous heart winning in OT twice after being down. I think O'Reilly has been a big part of that. He knows what it takes to win in the playoffs and also win when it looks bleak or others don't think they can win and it is rubbing off on his fellow Maple Leafs.
    But, they still have 1 more game to win, and Game 5 will be their best chance. They don't want the doubt to linger and return.

    Surely Tampa can't win this one now, right? I mean they are the better team in this series, but they blew games 3 and 4, by simply releasing the gas pedal as soon as the 3rd period starts, and it cost them both times. Vasy is obviously no where near his usual level which has amplified this factor and let the Leafs win 2 games they had no business winning. To me this is where the suffering ends for the Leafs, can't see a way of them blowing this one. Congrats to Leafs fans, from a Habs fan, you deserve it.

    Personal peeve
    Guy scores a goal, camera zooms in on players on ice swarming the goal scorer......leading to ( you would think showing the players off the bench to mob player)
    Nope, some producer figures we have to jump to crowd scene for the shot of excited fans
    Don't get me wrong, I enjoy those shots of the crowds or the plaza crowds, but after the players moments......more satisfying, a feeling of more complete, that's the moment
    You can go to the crowd shots later, I want to see the players celebrate, players bench erupting etc
    ( similar to showing the winning team , then quick zoom to losing team...again plenty of time later)
    Anyone else agree?

    A few thoughts about this game...
    First of all, this was easily the best-officiated game of the series so far. We saw very little of the after-the-whistle crap that occurred in the first three games - as soon as they gave Hedman the roughing penalty in the second period to give the Leafs powerplay, it was obvious that the officials were trying to make sure nothing got out of hand. They punctuated it with the crosschecking penalty to McCabe at the end of the period.
    This was also easily the best-played and most even game in the series as well. Although Tampa Bay dominated the first period, Toronto was the better team in the second period, and they were pretty much equal in the third period. Toronto had all the momentum going into overtime and it showed - before the Leafs' powerplay, they carried most of the play. Thankfully for us Maple Leafs fans, Kerfoot scored near the end of the penalty because, if he hadn't, there was a distinct possibility of a major momentum shift in the Lightning's favour if they had killed off that penalty.
    Quite honestly, I can't really call this a "choke" on Tampa Bay's part - I think luck had more to do with it than anything else. Think about this: after the second period Tampa Bay was leading 4-1 even though Toronto had outplayed them in that period. Going into the the third period, the score could have been just as easily 2-1 if it wasn't for an absolutely perfect shot by Killorn and a fluke goal that bounced off of Stamkos' skate. Also, look at the goals the Maple Leafs scored in the third period and overtime: Matthews' first goal was a near-perfect shot and the others were either screens or tips (basically luck in both cases) which Vasilevskiy had next to no chance whatsoever to save. Furthermore, it's not like the Lightning didn't have any Grade A chances to score. They certainly did, but part of the reason they didn't score was because Samsonov made a couple of very nice saves - because he actually had a chance to make the saves.
    My final thought: for those people writing off the Lightning... don't! They have a proud and talented team which is battle-tested in the playoffs. Now that they are down 3-1 in the series, they have to be feeling some sort of desperation and everyone knows
    a desperate team can be a very dangerous team.

    I feel like Toronto has figured out that Vasi lets in more than his fair share of high blocker side goals and are trying to exploit it. They have a way of getting through him. Sportsnet put a graphic for the past few years up and Vasi had a .925 sv% against every other team combined and a .880ish sv% against the Leafs, before this game. They just have the scouting report.

    You need to be good to be lucky & sometimes, lucky to be good. The Leafs have often lost games in which they were the better team in Matthews/Marner era, usually when the other 'tender stands on his head, à la game 6 vs Tampa last spring. Evidently it was Toronto's turn to win games in which they played their 'B' game, but managed to win anyway. Samsonov buckled down on Saturday & shut the door + he made key saves at critical moments on Monday, allowing his team to turn on their firepower, coming back from down 3 in the 3rd, to winning in OT.....again.

      Sorry ,but I'm not buying this "Tampa Bay" is tired bs. The New York Islanders dynasty of the 1980s went to FIVE consecutive (yes, FIVE!) Stanley Cup Finals. After they lost to the Oilers in their fifth finals appearance, absolutely NO ONE was making the "tired" excuse! To me, it's just a cop out!

    • @darthvader3742
      @darthvader3742 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Blackened Magic you have to consider some different facts, though. The schedule for the last 3 years has been very condensed, and Tampa Bay, while yes, they do play a very skilled based game they do also play a very physical game as well. I'm not saying it should be the ultimate excuse, Tampa Bay has played a lot of hockey recently, and Vasilevskiy looks tired and worn out. Plus, Tampa Bay does not have the depth that they once did, and it's showing.

    • @blackenedmagic888
      @blackenedmagic888 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@darthvader3742 1.) Two of the past three seasons were shortened and there was a long break between the 2019-20 regular season and playoffs. And they still have played way less hockey than what the Islanders did on their five-year run to the finals.
      2.) Tampa Bay's physical style of playing is NOTHING compared to 1980s-era hockey was like.
      3.) Vasilevskiy and Samsonov have virtually identical GAAs and Save%, yet Vasilevskiy looks tired"? Sorry, but no. The fact is the majority of the goals both goalies have let in this series were ones which they have had little to no chance on - namely: screens or tips. Very few were as a result of the goalies whiffing on them or being out of position.
      4.) Lack of depth is what happens when the Salary Cap finally catches up to you. However, if it wasn't for Samsonov's heroics in Game 3, this series could just as easily be tied at 2-2, so it's obvious Tampa Bay still has more than enough depth to give Toronto - who finished thirteen points ahead of them in the regular season - a major run for their money.

  • @bajjanitor
    @bajjanitor ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I thought after game 3 that Tampa is the favorite to win the series even thought Toronto won that game is up 2-1, because of how much stronger Tampa looked throughout the majority of the game. Now in this game Tampa looked even more dominant, but faded once again in the third. Winning 3 in a row is tough, but they sure have shown they have all the tools necessary to do so. Just need to figure out how to pace themselves a bit so they can have the energy to keep playing offensively until the game is over, or find a way to mitigate Toronto's offense even when tired. Because Toronto just have too many talented players who don't waste their energy on silly things like defense, and have just been able to run away with it late in the game.
