It’s everyone’s problem, I was a kid in care who went in normal and came out a hardened criminal on paper, I can sadly say I was corrupted through the system by others to then lead on and corrupt others myself, going through many schools and moving around only introduced me to more normal kids who became less so and so the virus of glorified criminality continued and the cycle became nearly impossible to break as time went on. The thousands of kids in care will not only be a cost to the system for the rest of their lives through jails and Centrelink but will also compromise the rest of the kids in schools and the like. It is everyone’s problem, pray your kids don’t take a liking to a kid in care of the states. I’m the luckiest of the unlucky ones trying to survive the depression from the life I’ve endured in such a short period, it becomes hard to care about the future when you feel like you’re ready to die everyday - that is a scratch on the surface of the life and overwhelming feelings of a kid once in care.
