I like this kind of video. I miss Japan very much and I feel like I am there walking around (with you). Thank you very much!
this will be a great area once everything opens up again !!!
What a fascinating hidden gem! It _is_ sad that so many shops are closed, but hopefully they can reopen soon, if only in a limited way. I'd love to explore that space. Thank you for showing it to us, Shinichi!
Thank you Shinichi for taking us around in Japan. For me living in Florida is much needed. I appreciate your hard work. Be safe and bless you🙏💕
I love these walk around videos. I doubt I'll ever get to go there so this is the next best thing. I really feel like I'm walking around exploring too. Thanks for the peek at another country!
日本に行きたい!🥲
thanks for taking us here! the ONLY way we can check out new places in tokyo now
I love shinichi video, not only he highlights famous spot and also up the hiddens gems that foreigner will never know.
Wow that was so amazing! Thank you so much for making these kinds of videos, I adore seeing everything!❤️❤️
Thanks for making this video. Brings me back to my trips in Tokyo, self exploring and randomly finding interesting spots. Gives me butterflies. Hope these shops can survive the pandemic and come out stronger. Hope to visit again.
Sorry, but I actually like all the noise. It really makes me feel like I'm there. And it's authentic. Thanks for the video Shinichi!
Nice to see you out and about again shinichi!!!! 🏃🏼♂️👍🏻
I really loved this video and the camera Shinichi is using is really excellent. The images are so crisp and clear I feel like I am actually there. Thanks!
Thanks my friend. Glad you enjoyed this
Thank you for these videos!they are so fun! 💐
Nice to see the old and the new next to each other. I think I've been to the area you ended up at. We took a shuttle bus from Narita and got off at Ginza and caught the Marunouchi line train to the Tokyo Dome area. Will be sure to check out Ramen Avenue and that area the next time I'm in Tokyo.
I really enjoyed your tour. I look forward to exploring this area when I return to Tokyo someday.
This is so so so interesting to me, because there is absolutely nothing like this in the area I live in. Minnesota certainly has nothing like it. And neither does Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, or Nebraska. Trains aren't big around here, with the Minneapolis area only just starting to get very limited passenger train service over the past decade or so. And there's certainly no subway or underground mass transit either. I could go to Chicago and there's a little bit of this sort of feel, but it's not as stylish or safe. And also a 8 hour drive from where I am.
I think the big thing is that this part of the US was just designed from the ground up to not be a good place for walking. I don't mean just the act of putting one foot in front of the other, I mean having mixed areas with commercial and residential in a tight space where people can walk to what they need (food, shopping, services, etc). Instead it's definitely 100% built for cars, which is why instead of shopping arcades or such, we get malls and strip malls surrounded by acres of parking lots.
These sorts of "hole-in-the-wall" groups of ragtag shops, designed to be walk through feel so exotic and foreign to me because of that. If it wasn't for video games and anime, they'd probably feel even more so (since you can see this kind of urban architecture sometimes in Japanese media shipped overseas). I'll fully admit, as much as I'm in love with the idea of being able to walk to anything I might need though, I'm probably wouldn't flourish in that sort of environment thanks to my arthritis making it hard to walk. Still, you don't need to worry about any of it being interesting, or feel the need to apologize for the noise; It all makes it feel very real and authentic the way a more clean documentary with sound edited in and out wouldn't.
Always good to have a tent, you never know. Cool video, that all looks like fun. But you two always show good stuff 😊❣
The corridor with all the izakaya was so cool looking! I hope they are able to open back up soon. All the closed stores and restaurants make me feel sad. I always enjoyed looking at all the different little shops, so much more interesting than here where all the stores are the same from place to place.
Hey Shinichi good to see be safe yes it look like a nice day love noise thanks for doing this video love the walk and what you showing us 👍❤️
I wojuld love to feel so safe that I could walk down an alley like that! I would love to be in Japan. NYC sure isnt like that
We LOVED this video - one of your best! SO interesting!! Thank you for showing us the actual shops and letting us explore the menus. What a great place to visit when we come back to Japan - we can't wait!! Last time we were there, none of that new part under the tracks was built. It looks beautiful. The noise of the trains didn't bother us at all! You described perfectly where it was and we can't wait to check it out! You must ask Satochi to go there with you when it all opens. Even tho he doesn't like that area, I'm sure he will love the new shopping street - so hip! Thanks for bringing us there! May you both be well ❤️🇯🇵❤️
You are a peach! What a delightful and humorous man. Please give Satoshi a hug for an admirer from Georgia.
Shinichi, thanks for another nice walking tour. As things get better, thinking of visiting Tokyo in the next 2-3 months. Take care and keep up the great work!!
Let me know Dennis when you’re coming ok.
Nice walking tour. Thanks my friend
Seeing the Squid-go-round almost made me spill my tea this morning. The first time I went to Tokyo with my SO we stayed right next to the train tracks in Yurakucho, and we walked by those spinning squid every day. :) It warms my heart to see that it's still the same after all this time. I really hope we are allowed back to visit next year!
I love all those hidden areas and secret alleys. I hope you can return soon and have some of that So- men and I really like that Honey Gelato Place.
Enjoyed watching and going on this walk 😁
Another great video and thanks.
Wow! Awesome place!
We ended up finding Ginza on our last day of our trip to Tokyo and were so sad we didn't find out about it sooner in the trip. Going back ASAP with my husband this time. Last one was a girls trip lol
I love the explore!!!
Excellent and innovative use of space in a very densely populated area!!!
I'm so in love with this place! Amazing! U don't have to apologize, Shinichi-san. It didn't bother us. Maybe it was a really hard period of Satoshi's life and he doesn't want to remember that. Thanks so much for sharing this gem! I can't wait for u to come back! Please take care! Love u ❤️
thank you for your video i enjoyed the walk its a beautiful place too bad its so empty wow ramen avenue i love ramen
Love these vids! I swear in some parts of the train noise, sounds identical to the signal received in the movie “Contact” lol
Camping can be really in tents.
(Intense haha)
Hi Shinichi, what an amazing place you showed us , would love to go there when we get the chance to visit Japan.
Great selection of bars ,restaurants and shops. And being located under the railway lines adds to the atmosphere as I grew up near railways. Hopefully the economy picks up so that all the businesses there can reopen. Thanks for the tour 🙏👍😀💪
The Uracori logo has me thinking about Trivial Pursuit. ;)
It's a little bit like the Undercity, in Montreal (Canada).
The bug sounds are probably real. In places like that, insects, birds and small animals make their way in, looking for warmth and shelter. Spaces like that usually grow their own ecosystem... which is fine, as long as it's not cockroaches.
Thanks again for this video! 😍😍😍😍 Boring? Noooo! NEVER! I hope to go back again to Japan with my family and have a beer with Yakitori or eat wagyu or Ramen!!!! I remember visiting a similar place near Akihabara, but it's smaller than this one. Stay safe you and Satoshi. Greetings from Spain ❤❤❤🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇪🇸🇪🇸❤❤❤🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵❤❤❤
We own lots of camping equipment. Both my sons are in Boy Scouts.
Despite all the noise ,I was actually waiting for you to give us a little dance 🕺 it was very Disco tech . 🧡👍
It was very disco yeah?
I loved this! Thanks for taking us on a tour :D.
Aloha! Beautiful space! Thank you!
Hi, Shinichi, Great video. Sorry for the bad english.
I really appreciate the use of space in the japanese big cities like Tokyo and Osaka. Brings me feeling of urban rationality, although visually confusing. Lots of information in a single square.
I´m brazilian and went to Japan in 2019. To visit my sister and see the country. I planning a second trip soon if the pandemic and Japanese Immigration allow. if I can, I'll take some "Brigadeiros" for you guys.
Hugs
Looking forward to welcoming you guys back to tokyo
That german Shop is something that you and satoshi must try. Greatings from Germany
Yes, I agree! ドイツレストランで 食べてくれますか。
Thumbs up for the squid spinner. 👍 🐙
What a cool place. I liked the new underground area you showed us but then when you went to the old eating establishments well that's where I'd go first if I was there. Always go where the locals go, the hidden gems only they know about. That's my motto when traveling.😊
Can I ask why serving alcohol is forbidden during state of emergency? Here in the states during the lock down last year restaurant's actually sold wine, beer, and cocktails in to go cups for people getting take out. That was a first for here. I was just curious why.🤔
I have heard of it and I cannot wait for your video🥰 Arigato
When I visited Tokyo, I was surprised to see the place name 新橋 was written in Romaji as "Shimbashi" (with an M), rather than "Shinbashi" (with an N). It may just be the railway station that transliterates it this way?
I know my one subscribe doesn’t mean much but thanks for the videos. Really liked your conveyor sushi video.
Thank you! Every sub means a lot to me.
Imagine working there with the noise of the trains, and a brick wall support was wet and damaged. Anyway, thanks for a + video!!! ❤❤❤
So the owner of the shop went to lunch and left his product out. Wow Japan is a whole other world for sure. Here people steal things when people are watching their every move due to not caring.
No need to apologize for the noise. It's real and gives a good feeling to the video. I'd be more annoyed if you tried to silence it somehow! ;)
I have never been there. This area looks really interesting. Wanna go there , eat eat eat and grab a drink 🥃
Nice area! What did Satoshi used to do? Like work in an office or restaurant etc? Haha my husband would do the same thing, not want to drive by his work when we go out to do errands on a day off.
Is this where Sanchoku Inshokugai (産直飲食街) was? Shimbashi to Yurakucho. I couldn't find it on my last trip. Maybe it was closed for renovations
Hmmm I don’t think it’s here. Shinbashi ha so many books and crannies though so it’s probably hidden away somewhere
@@Shinichisworld Yes probably hidden. I am keen to explore again when it's safe to return. Thanks for making this video and showing this area.
Salutes from Mexico City...¡¡¡ Hola!!! Hello!!! Nice day😃😄😆🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️
😞☹️😔I enjoyed the video but it makes me sad also that I can't get on a plane and come to see these things for MYSELF 😔 i would love to visit for my birthday in APRIL 19 2022 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
🧛🧟👹 Would like to celebrate a Halloween party in the whole Uracori alley. It has this nice disco, dance and drinking vibe.🍾🥂🥳💃
Both of these corridor zones have a strong liminal-space vibe to me, especially in the moments that have no other people visible (or maybe very distant) as you look along the corridor.. .and then that vibe is reinforced when you look into the empty spaces where stores should be, and the ones that are closed due to the drinking law. It is similar to the feeling I have gotten in going through dying malls here in the US.
Two friends of mine took a final trip through Madison Square Mall here in Huntsville Alabama a few years ago, before that entire area was demolished in 2017 to make a new shopping center. It was incredibly eerie. There were only a few people in the entire mall, other than my friends, and most of the stores were just empty spaces. This is not my friends' video, but it is very well-done: th-cam.com/video/ZByjRG_S2Js/w-d-xo.html
There are lots of spaces around the world like that, though. I have lived in a town of 2,000 that was once one of the best places in its county for getting work -- but it has slowly decayed since the late 1970s, after the sawmill there ceased operations. Even when I was growing up there, there were already creepy old rotting houses in the main part of town, as well a the ramshackle remnants of a huge train depot, all of which we kids in town explored.
I like the 2nd corridor more than the first one, No Music (Noise) Blaring at me, although the first one is cuter I don't think I'd enjoy walking with drunk people (in normal circumtances) bumping at me while some god awful noise is constantly blasting in the background.
3:19 A Phone-box 😳😁
Knot the mask ear loop, if it's too loose. You fidgeting with your mask is giving me serious anxiety. Delta variant is no joke. Pls stay safe shinichi
Where do you buy yourasks from?
I buy my masks from a store called Loft here in Japan
10:09 did 2 random people pass by and wear the same dress? wtf..
What was the reasoning behind halting the sale of alcohol in a state of emergency? Has the government implemented plans to help these businesses that they’ve more or less bankrupted ??
Is the bar-ban due to COVID?
Yes
🇩🇪❤
