That Shrine with the waterfall looked amazing! Where was it ?
Happy to have been a part of this journey as a viewer. :)
I have a favorite moment from one of the lives, but I don’t remember which one! I just remember being taking to a lovely feeling with the rain and greenery. I was glad you didn’t fall on that particular set of stairs.
Have to say the tunnel through the mountain after exploring the abandoned school was probably my favourite. Not knowing what was coming and just enjoying those few moments of Ghibli mystery and wonder…that was probably the sweet spot for me. Thanks Norm. Just cannot imagine a better vicarious experience than yours 😅
I have no idea what camera you're using but its the best
I love how Norm basically lives out an open world exploration video game. Just stumbling across random things and going into them to explore. That weird shrine also really reminds me of all the hidden shrines in Ghost of Tsushima.
Japan is an openworld game that just doesn't quit!
Tha sounds like a fun game to me. 😅
@@TokyoLensdid you find Gavin?
You know that life is the basis for videos games? You know exploring in vg’s are based on actual life and you can do this any second you’re alive ? Good god help the future I’m scared for us all
@@Dondillilochevroletnot an option if you're poor
外国人が撮影する日本はとても魅力的です。
日本人だけどここまで母国の良いところに気づく事は難しいです。
This is the best way to celebrate 1M milestone! Driving through Japan in a tiny camper van, lots of new places to explore, meeting old friends and..I love the small scenes that show yourself! (Like tripping over, eating ice cream, chilling in the laundromat etc🤭)
Thank you so much for taking us along with your adventure Norm!
Always such a kind comment from With Me Japan - Thank you as always
And CONGRATS on hitting 15,000 Subscribers!! I still remember when I hit 15k - Such an exciting time!!
Keep up the great work~
Those shots are incredibly beautiful, can't imagine the time, effort and preparation it took to make this whole video. Japan could use this video as their tourism ad and I wouldn't bat an eye. Congrats on the 1 million subscribers
it was quite an adventure just to prep!
日本人ですらあまり立ち寄らない場所に突入してくれるのは見てて楽しい。冒険心を擽られますね😊
Wow! Even for a person who grew up in the countryside of Japan, this is AMAZING 😍
haha a true compliment from someone who was literally ON the adventure lol
@@TokyoLens I’ve only got to see a fragment in person 🤣 Wonderfully put together! Happy to be a part of it!!
Sherry! It was awesome catching you on the trip! Please keep giving Norm that "where have you been" look at the door!" haha. Best part of this video!
@@GBCrush HAHAHA thank you!!!
Good luck with your new move to Tokyo. You're so lucky.😊
The amount of editing that Norm put in to this video is just amazing. For all those who have not watched the other videos of the trip on the Explore channel, I can only say you are missing out on a whole bunch of great stories unfolding as Norm walk around, being the Norm we love.
was definitely a challenge to squeeze 11.5 days into a single video! But a worthwhile challenge for sure!
It’s the country people came for, the editing people admire, the people who fascinate but Norm, it’s your heart that keeps people tuning in. It grows, and so does your channel.
どんどん未知の場所に突っ込んでいくのが面白い。私もこんな風に生きたいな。
I used to watch your vids a lot until i went to Kyoto last November, finally fulfilling my childhood dream. I stopped watching, not because you're bad or something, but i know if i watch another Japan vlog my heart will ache because of how much i miss my time i spent there, how unburdened i am, and it was the first time after years that i genuinely feel happy. Couldn't bear to finish this video after 9:12, seeing those shrines reminds me of Kyoto so much, the way you shoot your vids feels like as if i am really there and it somehow hurts. I really miss Japan ..
For anyone else like me that had to go look it up: The bug @13:57 is aptly called a Scorpionfly! :)
Everywhere you go, whomever you meet, you have such wholesome interactions with them, it is absolutely wonderful to see.
I'm only a couple of minutes in but I'm already LOVING this. Camera work is stunning 😍
Thanks so much!!
Words can’t even begin to describe how beautiful this whole adventure was, appreciate you for taking us along with you Norm!❤️
I was truly fortunate to be able to embark on this amazing adventure!!
Thank you for coming along!
this is one of if not my fav video on your channel i live in korea so japan feels so close yet so far from me its defo one of my life goals to live in japan while exploring for a few years at least and your videos give me so much motivation to save up and do it thanks again bro
That's added another dozen places added to my "Want to go" Google Maps pins. Beautiful as ever Norm, thanks for taking us there.
lol more like 25 places at least on this one!
Bro same, i got my google earth drive filled with pins and all the pins are in japan, and almost 40% of the pins are from the places Norm went
I've always loved the Japanese countryside. There are so many things you miss by simply taking the toll roads. I'm glad you enjoyed and congrats on hitting the 1 million mark!
So true!
Hey Norm, thanks so much for taking us along. I'm speechless this trip was fantastic.
Congratulations on the 1M subscriber plaque Norm! Well deserved... and an excellent vlog too!
This is exactly what I would do as a tourist. I would come to Japan and stay maybe 1-2 months and just explore everything
I wish more people WOULD do this~
If you can manage to do it, do it. I went in summer 2023 for 3 months before the tourist explosion and to this day Its left a hole in me ever since I left. I'm able to somewhat speak Japanese and it made my experience 10 times more amazing. Knowing the language opens up so many doors.
2 months?! bro a man's gotta work
Congratulations on one million! You're videos, starting many years ago when I was just looking at shamisen stuff, have shown so much of _Japan_. Not, "Here's the parts of Japan that are meant for tourist." but rather, "Here's some parts of _Japan_." At least it feels that way as a viewer. And I've wanted to visit Japan since I was little kid, purely because I wanted to make video games for a living and Japan was a significant part, if not the leader, of that industry back then with Capcom, Sega, Nintendo, Sony, to name a few. Over time I grew more fond of different parts of Japan, whether that was the music, the culture, the history, or even the food! And these videos have given me that last push to finally make that trip. I'm planning to visit Japan for roughly 2 weeks in October and I don't think I would be doing that if I didn't discover this channel. So, thank you.
Japan is so beautiful, I love the country and its people..!
Adored the brief timeout while Norm sat in the launderette, casually sipping coffee 🏆
The countryside in Japan is truly beautiful. I hope that when people from abroad visit Japan, they will come to love nature just as much as the Japanese do.
I love Nature, and Japan looks lush and green. A dream. When I visit Japan one day, hopefully soon, I want to see as much nature as possible. I want to see countryside and shrines and hike a lot. Nice to know that many Japanese people love nature too!
Congratulations Norm! Your channel has always been so much fun and so uplifting! You 100% deserve this milestone and many more to come. Thank you for taking us on so many great adventures!
Having now watched the whole thing, this has to be one of my favourite videos that you've released. Thanks for the adventures, Norm - can't wait for what comes next :)
Honestly one of my favorite I have ever made!! So glad you enjoyed it along with me! Thank you
PRE 50K CREW!!! But I am so so proud and happy on how far this has come Norm! I am glad to have been here from the beginning and I can wait to see you hit 2 million!
wow!! Gotta love that pre50 Crew!! haha
Thanks for all the help in NC too!!
Lucky and happy to have you around!
@@TokyoLens not a problem my friend!
Now get back to work so you can get to Japan faster hahaha
See you soon!
You amaze me everytime and I'm so happy to have found this channel about 6 years ago. You really deserve every subscribers and support for showing us how wonderful and beautiful Japan is. I'm so lucky to have followed you on most of the 1 million second trip across Japan (I think I only missed one or two live streams) just to sit and relax to your streams.
Must admit my eyes started to well up when you received the 1 million subscribers play button in your hands.
Congratulations again for reaching a big milestone.
When you got handed your gold play button I couldn't help but grin ear to ear like an idiot knowing I helped contribute to this. It's been a long time coming and well deserved. Cheers partner from Texas, USA.
You really highlight Japan in a brilliant way. Can't wait for more adventures!
From the cold of Montreal to the infinitely interesting Japan, you keep sharing a world sooo far away but make it seem like home
That’s so kind
Thank you~
This was a joy to go along with as the adventure unfolded. Glad to have been able to come along with you and see all these wonderful sights. As always, thank you!
Just finished this video and now i'm crying. You have a gift for storytelling and sharing with the world
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is one of the BEST Vlogs I have seen. The music, the video scenes, the interesting content. Those brilliant images.
all too kind~ Thank you!
Awesome achievement and very well deserved!
I'm glad to be a part of it. Keep those beautiful videos coming :)
Take care and congratulations!
Thank you! Will do!
Once again, congratulations for 1 million subscribers. Thanks for the 1 million seconds travelling japan!
Thank you so much (^0^)
Why djd I get teary eyed when she gave you your GOLD play button??!! Congrats- you are one of my favorite artists and your recognition is well deserved!!
You deserve it Norm! You're videos always show your enthuasm towards travel and culture, the photos you take are incredible, and you're always so engaged with your community. Congratulations on the massive milestone!
You have made me laugh, cry, smile, worry. You showed me strange, nice, funny, magical and lovely places. You made me fall in love with Japan even more. Thank you very much for all the emotions.

I don't mean this in a negative way but envy much of what you get to do. It definitely inspires me to see you do this kind of work. I feel like my life has gotten away from me over the past few years and my dreams of returning to Japan have been stifled. Your content helps keep my heart reminded of what I am aiming at. Thank you for your content, Norm!
I remember when your channel still about 10k and thinking that this such such an underrated channel and it deserved soo much more.
Fast forward to now, couldn't help but feel proud on how far u've come and u definitely deserved every bit of it.
Congratulation Norm!
Your adventurous soul make everything beautiful.
Congratulations! The millions are sure to just keep coming! You've worked damn hard to keep the quality of your content up, and you never fail to deliver! So excited for what you will do for the next coming years!
"A win from today quickly turns into a win from yesterday."
That hit really hard. It's been exactly a year since I visited Japan. I spent a week there in September 2023. Once I came back, it quickly turned into a week ago, a month, now a year... Time keeps slipping by, and I'm still thinking about that week in Japan. It's quite literally been my dream to move to Japan for nearly a decade now, but when my plans to study there fell through, I took that week long trip as it was all I could manage at the time. I hope more than anything to be able to make that move someday.
I really have no words for how good this series was. Unique, impressive, spiritual, beautiful, sad, funny, happy, all fall short. Thank you from my heart, Norm. Thank you.
Norm! I love your videos, they give me the piece of freedom to explore my family's home country. It was because of you that I recently got such an amazing opportunity. My mom was up visiting for her birthday near San Francsico, where she grew up during her teens and twenties. We've visited and looked at places she's lived in many times, but we went to one place (my mother is 63) and I just wanted to see inside and i just decided... I'm gonna go check it out at least the outside see if I can see anything. I walked up the marble steps and looked at the tall thick wooden doors and pillars. My mom soon joined me, and her face was washed in memory looking at a place she lived when her mother was alive.
I saw a person walking back towards where my mom said was her apartment, and I was able to capture the person's attention. We ended up meeting them, and they allowed us to look into the hallway and glance in some of the bedrooms. Look out onto one of the shared space that lives inbetween buildings, connected by a square winding staircase that leads to the roof, and a little patio area outside the apartment my mom used to live in. The current tenant talked about their experience living there a lil, and my mom shared how easy it was to imagine her mother cooking by the window. It was an experienece I'll never forget. In the past I never would have been brave enough to do that but your channel really inspired me to just talk with people and see what happens!
So, thank you Norm
Such a beautiful video. The cinematography, editing, and soundtrack are all perfect. Norm has definitely mastered his craft. I’m looking forward to what’s to come.
Two minutes in and "tiny danger shrine" already has me smiling...it looked like the steps went right up into the sky
Many good wishes for you
Norm!
I've been with you forever
and yet it seems that with every video
I learn more about your
passion for Japan!
Stay safe always...
You really have been here forever!! I recognize and appreciate that more than you know!!
You're always a ray of sunshine and kindness and I love having you here!!
Thank you so much~
These types of videos are always a reminder for me that staying home makes me stick without knowing that , we are just like birds we can't stay in the cage all day we need the freedom of being out in the world , I had a lot of fun and I reflected a lot watching this one 🌅🕊️
What a great video. I was there for all the live streams, but it's cool to see everything in a nicely edited video with some bonus BTS material. Thank you, Norm, for taking us on a fantastic adventure. And congrats on the gold YT button!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The cinematography, the music and of course the way you are Norm, make this video perfect!!!❤
Japan is absolutely stunning~~ ♡ ♡ ♡ Plus absolutely beautiful videography!!! Thank you for the lovely video!! Congratulations on 1 million subscribers!!! 🎉🎉🎉

Congratulations for the 1 MILLION!! I think I shed a few teardrops when you got the play button. Thank you so so much for all that you do and share with the world! Cheers and love from Finland.
This has been an epic journey. Such an amazing country. Thank you for everything you do.

What a beautiful video, thank you for all the work over the years to show us just how beautiful all of Japan is. Congratulations on a well deserved 1 million subscribers!
Congratulations on the 1M subscribers Norm! 🎉🎉 The places you visited were all gorgeous! Apart from that, what I found really touching was seeing the connections you made with the people you met during your travels! That was the best part of this video for me. Cheers to more adventures!!! 🍻
Wonderful video as always, Norm. I love rural Japan, and I miss it. By the way, there’s a great old joke, you know how old you are by how people react when you fall. If they laugh and everyone’s having a good time you’re young. If they panic, you’re old.
You’re one of the best people on TH-cam, Norm. Congratulations.
Brilliant! Always entertaining and good company.
hear is racing on this one!
@@TokyoLensthat dam was brilliant and the whole trip was inspiring. A lot of hard work and much appreciated.

Hi Norm, I'm watching this for the 2nd time. I watched all the episodes on Tokyo Lens explore, they were just amazing and then realising you did this video as well !!. The amount of work and enthusiasm you put into everything do is just brilliant and a joy to watch. Thankyou x

A MILLION MINUTES! That'd be almost two years or something like that? That's more of a dedicated channel kind of thing, Tokyo Lens Van Life! Lol
Incredible that you were able to condense this but still keep the same vibe. Editing was brilliant, music was sublime, I enjoyed your journey and appreciate the effort put into it all.
This video was crazy, such good quality and amazing scenery!
Norm, you're going to make me cry. The music and how you express the feeling you get when you have to leave a place, to getting the plaque for 1 million subscribers. I wish I could move to Japan someday.
Awesome video bro, Yeah that bike was so tiny! Beautiful scenery!
WICKED Tiny lol
just nuts!
Thank you man. you are like a window for us that won't have a chance visiting such a beautiful country. been here since the night at kyoto video. congratulations on making the 1M subscribers club
One big thing that stands out hugely, coming from the UK, is the lack of pot holes in the roads. The UK is twinned with the moon when it comes to the amount of craters our road infrastructure has but it seems the Japanese do take pride in their roads. They must be extremely pleasurable to drive on.
This is such a step up from your normal videos! I’m always impressed with your quality, but the music and quick paced travel cuts really adds to the video!
編集お疲れ様です。
和歌山は本当にすごくいいところですね、私自身も数回行ったことがありますがまた行きたいと思わせます。
i hope you enjoyed!
Been following this channel for 5 years and i can say that your content is always entertaining!
6:00 No way!WTF🤣
I'm Japanese and live in Wakayama. That little biker is actually my brother🤣
現在は日本の都市部に観光客が密集しているから、日本の田舎を取り上げて魅力を伝えてくれるのは嬉しいですね。
ただ、田舎の方は英語話せる人が少ないから、日本語できない外国人は行くのを避けてしまいますよね。
That handing over of the gold playbutton actually brought a tear to my eye
Soooo deserved Norm!
1 million subscribers, well done, your quality of the channel proves it’s worth in those numbers
The stairs in Japan are always wild. Here in north america stairs are regulated and have to have a certain height and depth, but you go to japan and you get those craggly boulder steps that are uneven and every step is a different height, angle and depth. I think it's safe to say it actually takes a bit of getting used to the stairs before you faceplant on them!
The beauty of Japan, and the enjoyment of travel and exploration. Love your videos.
Norm, you have absolutely spoiled us on this 1Mil Seconds trip. First with all the gorgeous live stream content (and comments), and then with this "The Video" event! In parts, I barely had time to say "I remember that" before we were off to the next gorgeous segment of camper footage, drone shots...and that EPIC greeting from Sherry. Two thumbs up just for her.
Also, I really loved the part where you totally gave us 12 minutes of you swishing your drink in front of the [redacted]. Been there, done that, some of my favourite memories are of doing that. So authentic :D
Congratulations again Norm. Looking forward to celebrating with you through the year!
Thank you for everything Norm! I and so many others would never be able to have these incredible experiences without you!!
Love this video, it's like a super recap of all the people you met along your journey!
Keep up the good work
Just IN-SANE, I'm glad I've been able to see this moment come. Congrats Norm 👏👏
Wow. Just wow. What a way to provide a glimpse into such a beautiful country as Japan. So well thought out, composition and editing is on point. Love it.
Congratulations on your Million subscribers. This video overview of the journey was great it flowed just like a planned trip end to end. But we know there were some detours with you behind the driver's seat. I would never have guessed that Japan is immensely dense with shrines, walks, and beautiful areas to see. Thanks for showing the depth of life for all of Japan. Proud to be one of your "Million"
The fact you went on this trip to celebrate such a milestone and the first people we see you interacting with "ARE YOU TOKYO LENS??"
I hope that made you realise just how big you actually are Norm. So many of us love what you do and love your content. Congratulations!
