I am a country bumpkin. Large crowds really bother me and I am nervous going into large cities. I would of not been able to shop in that Bento store. Especially watching the guy with the guitar case on his back whack somebody upside the back of their head. How you feel about bugs and those lil gnats that fly around in one little area. Is how I feel being in large crowds of people.. yuck. I prefer the gnats. Lol It's nice to see a beautiful park in Tokyo. At least the city folk can go to a beautiful green space and enjoy nature.

I love that there’s a whole ekiben culture in Japan with different regions having their own ekiben specialties. Even self-heating ekiben. I could easily miss a train shopping in stations like this.

I love these videos where you walk and comment, that represents a tourist walking around the streets basically all the feelings that we miss during these times. I missed that when I traveled to Japan in 2001. Another kudos to your choice of ekiben that was a great choice for tourist or traveller to really taste how unique japanese cousine is.

Tokyo is 14hrs ahead of us in Pennsylvania. So 10pm Saturday there is 8am Saturday here. And autumn is my my favorite season as well. I live in the Appalachian mountains here in Pennsylvania, so it’s always beautiful when the leaves change and fall off the trees. Spring is my second favorite, because I love seeing everything coming back to life...regrowth and a fresh start every year. So uplifting!
Sorry for three comments. It was a long video. 😂😊🥰

2pm in the UK 🇬🇧 but I confess I'm watching this at 5pm as I was working and have to go back to work at 6pm.
The trees are beautiful golden colours and the trees in the park that have been trimmed and shaped are spectacular, I love to see traditions kept going.

What a lovely walk with you, Shinichi. So intimate. So much beauty to take in. And fabulous food as well--so many interesting small bites of Japan. Thank you.
I think we are very much alike in many ways. Autumn is my favorite season, as well. The gorgeous colors, the brisk breezes, fewer bugs, and , frankly, fewer people. 😊

  • @tamara4557
    @tamara4557 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I always get an ekiben like this, love the different small dishes. A picnic in autumn in Tokyo is the best! I always enjoy autumn the most, summer is close second. But in the netherlands I think summer is the only season I somewhat enjoy (often too wet and cold throuhgout the year).
I'm not really sure how I feel about Tokyo station, perhaps it's because I'm used to that architecture style. In some history books it is said part of the station is modeled after Amsterdam central station.

Such a beautiful park. It was so interesting to hear you talk about the trash situation in Japan. In Gernany there are al lot of trash-bins around in public areas and it is common to put your "on the go trash" in there. For the household trash there is a separate system and it is not allowed here to put trash in private trash-containers. I feel like people in japan are so well behaved and respectful of their environment. Quite some time ago this was the case here too.

Oh my, this is like a personal fanservice just for me, Ekiben😍 I have three „dishes“ or prepared meals (don‘t know how to say) I‘m addicted to, like crazy. Even looking at them makes me feel happy. Its Ekiben, Osechi-Ryori, and Oden. These thee, oh I watch every tiny captured video I can find about.
This my dear, was heaven. I thank you so so much for walking around in that shop, some of the Ekiben I even remember by now but I never had one. It was a pure pleasure to watch, thank you sososososo much, and your choose must be so tasty yumm. It would be one of my fist choose too, I do love just one bite but all different. And that amount of variety is amazing, thanks fot sharing it piece by piece and explain. This way I did learn so many names of dishes and ingredients, it really helps me to learn more and I also try to guess before you say what it it, it‘s fun. One day I will go on a Ekiben diet, not for weight purpose, it‘s for soul purpose, each bite would make me happy😁

You would probably love the deep sea chowder I make. I use a frozen seafood medley with clams, octopus, squid in it. I also use shrimp. And then there's potato, bacon, corn, celery. and it's made with half and half rather than heavy cream, so it's not so heavy. A great chowder to eat all year round. Warming, filling and comforting.

Here, in America, I can remember my Dad and my GrandDad taking ginkgo for mental clarity and to help with concentration. Do you guys take it as a supplement there as well? I am sure Japan is where we, in the west, borrow the practice from.

My favorite bento meal was at a Japanese restaurant my son and I would go to once a month for a mommy & son date. We usually went for dinner, at which time the restaurant had a sushi chef that came in and you could get the best sushi. One day we went for lunch and and we got bentos. They served a hot tea that had a slight cinnamon taste to it..was the best tea I’ve ever had and since I didn’t ask the name of it, I’ve never had it since. 😐 But I agree, hot tea with bento...weather it’s hot or cold bento....tea is the best. And miso soup! I always get miso soup to accompany my bentos...my two favorite Japanese cuisines are sushi/sashimi and miso soup. ✌🏻🥰😊

In my experience, Ekiben always sell out. Analytics are used to determine how many to prepare each day. Sometimes, Ekiben will be discounted towards the end of each the day and this encourages consumers to buy - resulting in few (if any) being left unsold.

The snack car never had an attendant. We need these shops with self contained meals at train stations. It must be more a cultural thing.

Mhh. 24 little tasty samples of Japanese food, sitting in a park on a beautiful day. If this is not close to heaven...? Who cares about ants? They just do their job, and it is part of nature life. But, of course, I understand if someone has a problem with all these little ones crawling around. They can be annoying...
So I had the idea: Why don't you create an interactive map of all picnic areas/tables/sites in Tokyo? Wouldn't that be a great thing to have? You could sell it as an app for Apple/Android. Starting with your neighbourhood, expanding to Greater Tokyo and then the whole of Japan? I am always enjoying all your videos - on all of your channels. Thank you so much 💖💖
