we had this problem today with our 2017 Acadia Denali. all we did was to take the negative cable off of the battery, wait an hour & put it back on and everything's been fine ever since. because it's a computerized car sometimes it just needs resetting and that's how you do it. not saying it works for everything but it does work for us. 😄
Going thru the exact same issue,went to Firestone said I didn't need starter,next morning same issue back at Firestone waiting on diagnosis,thinking it really is something deeper,vehicle only stalls out when parked at home,weirrrddd.ill keep you all updated on diagnosis from Firestone..
When this occurs, Always pull the shifter out of the park position with the ignition on, foot on brake and slam it back into the park position, then hit start button again. If Park switch connection isn't tight, you will spend $500 plus like I did replacing the battery and the Starter before getting pissed of enough to slam things around and figure it out.
What if you can’t put the shift in park… none of the lights will come on but first I been having trouble with the shift park thing …. Now it’s not turning on do you think it could be a sensor
Rambling. A farmer would have plowed the field, planted and harvested in the time you didnt figure anyhing out. Maybe the front passenger side tire needed air or you were out of gas. Ya never know.

Worst of the worst
I saw smoke and the check engine light came on. Now it clicks but not turning over.
